Help me bulk up my breakfast

I usually have 1/2 cup oatmeal with berries and a tbsp of peanut or almond butter for breakfast. I've been finding this isn't holding me over as well as it used to. What can I add to give it a little more staying powder? I'm vegan, and I don't like putting protein powder in oats.

Is there anything you can eat which has more protein in it?
I am guessing you dont eat milk, yogurts or eggs etc? and you said no protein powder?
what do u take to make up for protein?
Protein will keep you fuller for longer.. and high protein diet keeps your body energised for longer than a carb diet.
Try including more protein.. I do take protein powder shakes and egg whites or try adding toast etc but thats again low protein :(

Why not try a soy based protein powder.

Not a vegan, but would a Morningstar breakfast product added to your usual oats help? I find if I have eggs and sausage for breakfast it lasts me way longer than oatmeal (even if I do eat both), so maybe a soy sausage product added in would help "pump" up breakfast?

I used to have oatmeal and fruit for breakfast but had the same problems. I now have 4 egg whites, scrambled with Pam, not butter. Add to that 2 slices of Ezekiel Bread and I'm good to go until at least lunch! Ezekiel bread is found in the freezer of the organic food section of your grocer. If you decide to try it, go with the one in the orange bag (not Low Sodium).

I love Ezekial bread :) I don't eat eggs though.

And I use rice protein powder, I just don't like it mixed into oatmeal.

Something like that might be a good idea. Or maybe some tempeh bacon.

I'm currently in love with making protein muffins, either baked ahead or individual in the microwave, for breakfast. I love adding whatever fresh fruit I have around. If you Google "vegan protein muffins" you will find a bunch of recipes. I use egg whites and whey in mine, so my recipes aren't vegan, but you can experiment. Most of them do seem to call for vegan protein powder.

    Hi,

How about a hard boiled egg or scrambled egg? Or a greek yogurt? Protein helps you feel fuller longer. You could also add a Flax Meal/Fiber powder to your oatmeal like Now Foods Fiber-3. Adds Protein and fiber. Another idea: 8 oz. of fat-free Milk, Soy Milk or Almond Milk (look for one with 5g of protein).

Try adding chia seeds! Or you could try quinoa instead of the oats, it has more protein and I feel it keeps me fuller longer. It can be used for making a porridge or mixed with a soy yoghurt or similar cold.

I used to use chia seeds! But I'm out right now, need to buy more. Soy yogurt is a good idea... I do miss having yogurt with breakfast.

And again I'm vegan guys, so no eggs or dairy :)

Adding psyllium husk to my oats really helps me feel fuller for longer. It's high fibre and acts like glue to my porridge mix. I also chop up a banana before I microwave the mix [oats, linseed, psyllium husk] and then drizzle Alpro vanilla soy pouring yoghurt on top. The cooked banana makes it sweet so I don't feel I have to add any sugar or honey.

Easy - up the amount! Add a banana, add some honey, add more peanut butter! Add milk!

Porridge is a staple of mine and it used to leave me hungry by lunch. I now make it from scratch (add nothing with refined sugar). It would go something like this....

    Oats 40g
    Milk 100ml
A medium sized banana (under 100g)
(No added sugar or salt) Peanut butter

    =405 cals and a very satiated me. : )
