I'm eating healthier but still gaining fat? :/

I've cleaned up my diet somewhat and I'm eating healthier foods and I'm eating more now too because I was eating too little before. I'm also doing 2 swim workouts a day but I'm still gaining fat? Specifically on my stomach area.... I'm not necessarily adding a lot of pounds, I'm just getting squishy and there is a visible fat layer on my stomach now that wasn't there before. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

Strength Training. I speculate that you may be losing muscle, and therefore increasing body fat percentage. I would continue to eat healthy (as you are doing now) and adding a strength training routine to maintain or even build muscle mass.0

THIS exactly.0 -
It could also be sodium - water weight. Try to keep it under 1500 for a few days and see if the "fat" goes away0

THIS lol keep doing what your doing... peeked at your diary and it looks amazing... just add some strength training in there.. keep it up girl!!0 -
Is that your photo, lovely?
There's not a lot of fat there. You really can't lose more fat, without starting to become very unhealthy. Strength training may help you attain the appearance you're after, but don't forget you'll have to fuel that training.
Take care.0 -
Honey----You could stand a little meat of some sort on your bones. FAT or muscle! Take your pic!0
-
You may be gaining muscle mass. And muscle weighs more than fat. I would be thinking possitive things abou that.0
-
I looked at your diary. The soups and Subway are LOADED with sodium. I think the "fat" you see is actually just water weight.0
-
sorry but your way too thin stop dieting, I dont mean to be cruel but you look anorexic, eat for gods sake eat.0

I think may be developing an unhealthy attitude to how you exercise and how you perceive your body. That 'fat' is probably just skin and in the worse case scenario feeling 'flabby' because your body is beginning to eat away at the muscle mass underneath it.
As people have said above...don't worry and you don't look like you need to be losing any weight just enjoy how you look already! xx0 -
You are way to thin, stop dieting0

If you actually looked at her diary, she's eating pretty well. 2000 calories some days. Maybe before you post something so judgmental, you should actually try looking into what she's eating.0 -
Somebody needs attention...
...and a cheeseburger
Wow judgmental much?
Did you even look at her diary? Clearly she is eating better and even stated she ate too little before.
Yep, sure am...go back and look at her post of 7 days ago.0 -
Okay, so I guess I should have added that I am NOT dieting to lose weight anymore. I am just trying to have a healthy diet now....0
-
If i posted a picture of me or any fat person posted in a group of gainning weight wouldnt u descorage them ? Same thing , i need a salad and she needs a cheeseburguer...0

Yeah I was having a rough patch? are you perfect or something?0 -
You do little a little thin, but honestly your diary looks great. It really seems like you have a handle on your eating. How tall are you? I agree that strength training and less cardio might be better for your to gain the muscle you need to really look super fit (if thats what you want)0
-
Well you may find a healthier diet may lead to you putting on a little more fat, but that's not a bad thing, you'll still look beautiful even with a bit more fat. And gaining muscle is great too. I'd agree with people saying you should try and get in some weight training, but do take it into account and up your food intake after big sessions.
And don't mind the people giving you crap, you were clear in saying you've increased your food intake.

In order to eliminate the flab, you should concentrate highly on weight training and aim to eat 20% over TDEE. You can go through bulk and cut phases. Bulk, you will add muscle and a little body fat, and then cut down to eliminate that fat you gained from eating a calorie surplus. You can look to do programs like strong lift 5x5 as it can help lead to muscle gain.

I'm with those who point at strength training.
You do already look slim, and so maybe the issue is that you're losing a little muscle?0 -
You might feel bloated (or "fat") because of the types of foods you're eating. I find that if I eat a lot of wheat, then I feel bloaty. I'm just flirting with a grain-free diet now, and I don't really get that feeling anymore. Maybe try adding in some raw veggies to your snack? Also, in terms of healthy ways to add calories, what about nut butters? (I just tried coconut butter and it is probably the most delicious thing I've ever eaten!) You could also eat avocados (if you like them)-- for example, make a quick guacamole and put it on grilled chicken or fish. Look at my diary if you want ideas. I'm finding even more that it's what I eat rather than strictly calories alone.
There's a book called "Wheat Belly" that a friend of mine read and recommended that discusses these ideas in a LOT more depth.
Take care of yourself0 -
Yup, if that's your photo, you seem to be way too thin- those bones showing on the ribs and collar bones... The photo looks really frail and unhealthy.
Your food diary looks perfectly respectable - protein, fruit, calcium, enough calories over all, regular meals and snacks. I've got no idea how someone could eat what your diary shows and look like what the photo shows (if that is you).
Sorry not to having any helpful advice, but I'm fresh out of ideas on this one, except to worry about your body image...
Good luck and I hope you figure something out!0 -
I took a look at your diary and for the past few weeks, you've been WAY OVER with sodium and WAY UNDER with water intake. This may have something to do with the "fat" you're seeing. Lower your sodium intake and up your water and you should see a difference within a week.0

If that's a recent photo then I'm sorry hun but your look down right unhealthy!!! NOthing but skin and bones!!! Have you seen a Doctor to discuss your nutritional needs and your weight goals??? Please see a doctor!!!0

You are probably just experiencing some bloating from the change (a good change) in your eating habits.
But strength training is also a good idea.0 -

Hahahahahahaha I love this!!!! :laugh:0 -
Everyone's commenting on my picture, so I'll let you all know that that's what I looked like right before I started to increase my food and eat a little healthier. I have gained fat since then and look a bit different so PLEASE stop telling me I look unhealthy.
I uploaded a recent picture on my profle so you can see the difference that a few weeks and different eating has made.0
