If you had $1000 to spend on fitness, what would you do?

I could spend that on races (half marathons and marathons aren't cheap!) and running shoes! I want 90x too!0

My current best fitness equipment is my smartphone.
I use mcp app on it.
If I had a free $1000 to spend I personally, would get
* Some pretty workout clothes.
* Expensive (and pretty) running shoes. lol.
* Zombies Run! app (for iphone)
* New earbuds for iphone.
* Arnold Schwarzeneggers body building encyclopedia
* With the money left over I would try out a bunch of new activities and sports, high ropes, skiing, rowing - anything new.
Good luck with your decision!0 -
Get a personal trainer. My gym offers a package of 10 sessions for $400. I would buy two of those, and some new gym clothes and shoes if I have $1000 extra laying around. And then I'd use the trainer 3 or 4 times a week, since I'd have 20 sessions and having a trainer basically there to *make* me workout that often (which is how often is required to actually lose weight) over the space of 1-3 months could be quite helpful!0

Here are a few ideas:
- hire a personal trainer
- set up sessions with a nutritionist
- get involved in a sport and use the money to purchase proper equipment and supplies (i. e. hiking, swimming, golfing, rock climbing, etc.)
As long as the money can be used in those ways, those are the kinds of things I might choose. That's a great benefit! Best of luck to you!!0 -
I don't think I'd spend it on traditional "fitness" gear at all. I'd be more likely to focus on sporting goods to have fun and stay active. examples might be: a kayak, inline skates, backpacking gear, scuba gear and lessons, a volleyball net, MMA gear, a snowboard, etc.0

You have so many great tools !!! Wow!!!
Personally I would hire a personal trainer, they kick your butt!!! And teach you great techniques0 -
I used the fit bit and loved it until I lost it. Its A Top Rate Pedometer and it syncs with MFP. $1000
-
i'd buy a few appointments with a nutritionist. then perhaps you can buy a bicycle with the leftover money.
good luck...let us know what you decide.0 -
I'd buy a few good full body massages for sure:) in a good sports clinic.0
-
If I had a bigger apartment, I'd put the money towards a concept 2 rower. Otherwise? I'd possible upgrade to the fancy gym I am too cheap to join. Or get a few trainer sessions. Or a lot. With a specific goal in mind.0
-
I'd get a gym membership and book some sessions with a personal trainer to show me how to use all the equipment and how to lift properly.0
-
I would get some free weights for home, a nicer mat and some resistance bands, and then hire a personal trainer!
Leftovers towards diet would be a really nice blender or juicer and a crap ton of vegan protein powders.0 -
I'm currently thinking that I will go with at least some sessions with a personal trainer as so many have suggested, and spend the remainder on a couple of the things missing in my workout room (gym mats, pull-up bar), and maybe some high quality protein powder. Thanks for all the replies, keep them comin!0

That's such a wonderful benefit - what an awesome company!
Recently I've decided to splurge on a personal trainer and it has been totally worth the expense. I find she pushes me way harder than I'd ever push myself. Depending on your fitness goals I'd say a personal trainer and gym membership. Though if it were me I'd probably have to throw in new running shoes and some cute workout clothes.0 -
I would buy one of these
http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-s-3-squat-stand.php
a rogue women's bar, (I don't care which one they are all awesome) and a set of bumper plates.
I might be a little over $1000.0 -
I would buy a top-of the line elliptical, with moving arms, because that's all I really ever do at the gym anyway.0
-
Power cage, kettle bells, rower0
-
This may not be helpful to you, but for me?!? I'd hire a babysitter so I could go running 3X a week without having to juggle everything or go in the dark!!0
-
- buy kettlebells dumbells step ankles weights, fitbit HRM
- hire a trainer
- put some towards my gym membership
- more workout clothes0 -
A bike (pushbike - hybrids are good if you fancy doing on road and mountain biking) - sometimes its nice to get outdoors.
A personal trainer for some sessions or if you got the bike maybe a session to learn some moves.
Train to become an instructor for Les Mills - be good for your health & could do evening classes for others :-) x0 -
Geez... totally jealous over here! If I had some extra cash to spend only on fitness/wellness stuff... I'd get some Beachbody programs and whatever extra equipment I needed (like a pull up bar, medicine balls, lots of dumbells/bands, lifting gloves, push up stands) and a year's supply of protein powder and other supplements... but that's just me.
I'd say good for you for taking full advantage, and good for your employer for realizing a healthy and fit employee is a better worker!!!!
Awesome... enjoy spending the cash!!!!0 -
Elliptical (which apparently you have)
Yoga classes (and a good rubber mat, cork blocks, bolster, strap)
Personal trainer
Good blender
Protein powder (& any other shelf-stable additives like psyllium fiber, etc)
Kettlebells & medicine balls
Bosu ball or other balancing platform
Jump rope
Foam roller
Really good running shoes (& a spare pair)0 -
I would get a whole bunch of new workout clothes and shoes... and one of those bodybugg things maybe... I would say a bench and weights and bars and all that but I'd rather just go to the gym.0
-
For me, personally, I would join a Crossfit box.0
-
I would buy me a treadmill!!!0
-
Why not try something different like joining a Marshal Arts class. Aikido is a great workout.0
-
I'd buy a chin up bar, a variety of medicine balls, a bosu ball, a foam roller, and a balance ball to round out your equipment, a variety of reputable fitness dvd programs, a couple more pair of running shoes, and then see what their policy is on appliances for recovery nutrition.0
-
i would get a cheap treadmill and save the rest to be able to afford healthy food0
-
A TreadClimber.... that is my dream0
-
Wow - $1000!! That's a great benefit!0
