Welcome to December.
It would not have been a holiday weekend without me getting sick. I go to the doctor today to see what's going on. I've been sick since late Thursday night. At first I thought it was just something I ate, but it's been 4 days and it's still here. It's probably an upper respitory infection. I don't have any nausea and I haven't grown a tail and hooves, so swine flu is out. I am going to get vaccinated while I am there though. I did lose a few pounds though, so that's good. I have been keeping hydrated, plenty of water and plenty of rest.0 -
Hello All! Hope everyone is doing well. Congrats on the weight loss this week!! I feel like I've been doing really good this week. I've made time to exercise everyday and I am tracking all my foods. I went to the grocery store for some low cal food for lunchtime sandwiches and snacks. I will weigh in next monday when I get home... I am hopeful for no gain. Doing the best I can on vacation
shutterbug - hope you feel better soon. Smart thinking with keeping hydrated.0 -
I was in a hurry when I posted earlier so I want to back track now and catch up...
As far as snacking--My worst time of day is from 2 p.m. til bedtime. I caught myself eating pretzels last night that tasted oh so good, but were putting me over my calorie limit. What I have found works for me is to brush my teeth or chew gum. I usually won't want to brush my teeth again so that works the best. On occasion I have taken the offending food jumped up and down on it a few times and thrown it away  That has only been when I am desperate to stop what I am doing. It is nice to have power over the food. I always do, it just feels more like it then. The best thing I do to quit snacking is eat small meals regularly throughout the day at least 3 meals and two snacks and avoid at all costs bringing any trigger food into the house. If I bake cookies I know that I will be eating at least 3-6 of them if not more, so even though I wanted to yesterday I didn't do it. If I buy chocolate I am going to open it and eat it--Sometimes it can sit there unopened but I will eat too much if I do open it. The other thing is I have found I binge eat if I don't allow myself a treat. Yesterday I had some chocolate with one of my snacks, it was really good and I only had one. Today I allowed myself a fruit snack. If it becomes off limits then I wan't it more. Another thing is that I tend to think I am hungry when I am really thirsty--see if drinking more helps. Sorry I got a little long winded. I just have a lot of experience, eating and snacking when I am not supposed to and trying to resist! :blushing:
I hope those of you that are sick get better soon! I hate being sick! Remember to drink your fluids to flush it all out!
Nobody gained this week! Hooray!!:drinker: I even lost--I was so surprised, I guess changing up my exercise routine really makes a difference, thanks Chrissy for the idea!!:flowerforyou:
Have a good one and as Sanifrey said, make wise choices!! (that is for me more than anyone!:embarassed: )0 -
Look at all you losers this week - AWESOME! Way to go - you should be extremely proud of that.0
-
Debnu1 thanks for all the ideas. Sitting here reading your post I tking part of my problem is eating when I am bored. Tonight if I get the urge to snack on something I will go play with my Wii or jump on the ab circle pro (it makes less noise than my elliptical)
I have tried brushing my teeth but it doesn't always work :blushing:0 -
Sometimes if I realize that I am snacking rather mindlessly, I fix myself a cup of hot tea, and that helps.
And for this week . . . team huddle . . . on three . . . GO BLUE!0 -
Good morning everyone.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!! WOOOO HOOOO   This isn't an "official weigh in", but I jumped on the scale this morning...
191.5 for my height, BMI says over 191.6 is obese.
I'm out of the obese category.........:drinker: :drinker: Now I want to make it to next monday with this loss. 180's is next...
Snacking.
I've never been one to go crazy for snacks at night, but I am human and we all have urges. I also try to have 5-6 meals. So my 5th and 6th meals of the day, can be 2 small dinners, or a dinner and a bigger snack.
My Thoughts.
#1. DO NOT have those tempting snacks in the house..... Period. I'll stand by this. Many people say in moderation, Blah Phoooey. If it's there, and you know it's there, it'll tempt you unless you have very strong will power.
#2. Make the snacks a lower calorie snack or something healthy.
- Carrots, celery, almonds, apples, oranges, other fruit.
#3 Instead of trying to go "without snacks".. Make sure you log your snack and that you have it in the evening.
So if a 100 calorie snack might not be enough. So maybe a snack should be 200 calories ... for example.
My 6th meals , when I'm hungry at night.
Cut up 1 apple. If you have grapes, or orange, or other fruit, you can add it. Then add in 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, and then chop up approx 10-15 almonds and pour over top.. mix it up, or I have a protein shake, sometimes with 1/2 banana.
It's the choices we make.
Keep going blue team.. Make sure your aiming for 10 glasses of water!!!!! :drinker: :drinker:0 -
Way to go Peter - I remember that feeling. I am only a few pounds from being "healthy" and I cannot wait!0

Congrats everyone. I was pleased with my mini weight loss. It is definitely the fact that I have to check in. I have been working on the water this week. Tonight I'm going to try thumper's suggestion of doing some kind of excercise during commercial breaks. I am going to encourage everyone to do it. A little family fun! Thanks for the idea.0

I missed Biggest Loser last night. :frown: Anybody watch it? There was a national address on at 8 and a friend of mine told me BL came on at 9, but I was out like a light at 8:30. :yawn:0
-
I had a little bit of ice cream last night but was not feeling well at all so I treated myself and will work it off tonight.
I am working on a new plan will ask for all yalls help when I get a better idea in my head of what I want to do0 -
lcorrell14- I missed Biggest Loser yesterday also. I submitted my big school project, and feel a huge relief. Last night Had to have extra snacks in order to do school work. I just can't do work on an empty stomach. I was still under my calories, though.
Here's to an awesome week you guys!!!!0 -
I have set my DVR to record all of the Biggest losers--that way I never miss it, unless the power is off  I watch it the next morning when I am on the treadmill. Today I used my step and some weights while I watched and ended with the treadmill--800 cals, hooray! :flowerforyou: This episode was very inspiring to me, in fact I saved it to watch again soon. They all ran a marathon and the *spoiler* boys are in the final with the girls vying for the third spot. I am excited for the finale next week, however I am sad to have the season end. I feel more inspired to exercise and improve myself as I watch. I caved and ate a donut last night after my husband talked them up for the 5th time. :ohwell: It was really good, but it put me over cals--Today I ate another half of one but this time I am making sure to not let it get me--they are gone now, thank goodness!!:blushing:
It was harder to get up at 5 am today to exercise, but I still did and put in that hour--I am feeling sleepy now  Hopefully that won't get me in trouble later. Instead of eating when I am tired today, I think I will just lay down and take a nap.
Have a great day and make better choices (than me) :flowerforyou:0 -

One thing I do when my boyfriend has something *really* yummy that I *must* (well, in my mind, anyway!) try is have a small bite of his! It's an understanding, really ... if he gets a Blizzard from DQ, I get the first bite. If he gets cookies when we go to Subway, I break off a small piece. If he gets a Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty, it's mine for the first few seconds! Andddddd ... my most favorite ... when we're in a restaurant and I order a salad or grilled chicken or something otherwise healthy ... I get a bite of whatever he's having (typically unhealthy).
And that is why I keep him around. :laugh:0 -
icorrell14 i need to try that with my hubby  Maybe that will help with my cravings hmmmm0

BUMPing for later!!0

 You guys are great.
Just taking a small break from putting budgets together at work. I went to our fitness room at lunch to do 20 min on the elliptical ... but someone was on it. So, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and burned just as many calories. :drinker: Still working on that 10 glasses of water ... and I need to do 20 more minutes on the elliptical this evening if it's free!
Our first (yeah, we have two, ugh) holiday luncheon at work is this Friday. But, this one is catered and I have the menu! I'm getting grilled chicken, a salad and then a Weight Watchers approved dessert (employees are bringing the desserts). The next one won't be so good ... all employees are bringing food. Bah humbug. :grumble:0 -
icorrell14 i need to try that with my hubby  Maybe that will help with my cravings hmmmm
Thats a great idea, I'll have to try it sometime too. I do so much better if it isn't even around me--the junk food I mean. I need to remember to just not buy it!!0 -

I have done this routinely with both my husband and my daughter since I changed my lifestyle. It works well for me. I just want to know how it tastes, and I can be done then if it's not on MY plate!0 -
Yeah, those are great ideas, I do that too. If I'm at a party and I want to avoid eating because I have already had dinner, what I do is I serve my baby food and then I just taste from her plate. That way people don't have to ask me why I'm not eating.
Right now what I do at home is just not buy the things I eat without control. I've already told my husband no ice cream until I can lose another good amount of weight. The thing is that I can sometimes over eat ice cream.0 -
I am dreading going to the DR next week. I am affraid of what their scale willsay I weigh. I just need to keep in mind it will be 1 pm and I will be fully dressed and have just eatin. Wish me luck0
-
Smadag - don't dread it - use it as incentive to work really hard this week...add an extra glass of water to your daily intake and add 10 minutes extra of exercise - after a week you'll have more than an extra hour of exercise and probably have burned an extra 500 or so calories that you wouldn't have!0
-
Last time I went to the Doctor's, I didn't even look at what the scale read. I use my scale at home and that's it.0
-
As every scale reads different, I wouldn't worry about it. Why not ask your MD what your weight was last time you came in, you may be surprised! :flowerforyou:0
-
That was my plan I think it was around 175. I am also going to ask her for any help she can give me to continue my weight loss
I hate the DR:grumble:0 -
I had a very long day at school today. I work as a paraprofessional with special ed students at the high school. The teacher that I work with went in the hospital yesterday, and died unexpectedly of a heart attack this morning. I spent the day with very upset students, trying to be strong myself. I don't even want to go in tomorrow, but know I must. I think I will take my dog for a walk in the cold air now. Later -0

Back from my cold walk (wind chill 15 degrees). I think maybe I can face the evening now. I pulled out leftover soup to heat for supper. However, I just realized that apparently I forgot to drink any water today.0
