"A calorie is a calorie" always raises a laugh for me.
  • I saw a magazine with "Be bikini ready in seven days!" written on it yesterday and just kind of laughed. Yeah, I'm literally only a week away from being small enough to wear a bikini.

A friend of mine (also a doctor, I might add) was bragging about all the weight she was losing using the Sacred Heart Soup diet. You basically just eat as much vegetable soup as you like. She lost 7 lbs in one week, went to work, passed out, and ended up in the emergency room. The WTF moment came when she posted about her fainting, and having to go to the ER. All her blood work was screwed up (low blood sugar, anemia, etc) and people were still asking her about the diet. They didn't care about the obvious health risks, just that she lost 7 lbs in one week without exercising!

God, if I hear another Paleo/Atkins/HFLC zealot rave about how you can eat 5,000 + calories of animal protein and dark leafy greens and NEVER gain weight, I'll eat my hat.

I'm not wearing a hat.

I would LOVE to see someone eat 5,000 calories in meat and leafy greens. I don't think it is possible unless you are a sumo wrestler or a competitive eater.

The ones i love on pinterest are the ones that are like 6-10 excersizes (pushups, jumping jacks etc) you do for only TEN MINUTES and it claims you burn more than an HOUR of running....um ya i call BS on that!

HCG drops - I actually had a relative suggest those to me. She has lost 60lbs taking those drops and eating next to nothing.

I told her no thanks, that I'd rather exercise and eat less and she said "Ohh, I hate exercise. Why would you want to get sweaty like that?" :noway:

Yeah, you go ahead and enjoy those 500 calories that you eat today. I'll be over here enjoying my food and running for miles

OMG I have a friend who just said the same thing to me!! She needs to lose well over 100 pounds, I suggested she do this site with me and she simply said "oh I will get back on the HCG" Forget she probably needs exercise or proper nutrition. I didn't say anything, I think I was in shock.
  • We have a boutique in town that recommends slimming wraps. All you have to do is grease down and wrap yourself in plastic wrap a few times a week and ta-da you're skinny!

    LMAO thats a funny one!

I highly Doubt that Dr. OZ says Skip breakfast, hes always encouraging it on his show !
  • Sensa ~ granules you shake on food, according to commercials on TV

African mango ~don't even know what this is

SafSlim ~ drinking fat to lose belly fat...

If you bought every supplement Dr. Oz wanted you to for weight loss, you would be to full to eat real food not to mention broke! I don't think he knows what he's talking about.

My doctor actually recommended that I do the HCG shots just for 3 weeks (no longer) to get my hormones in gear. Well, I was shocked. Dr. Oz doesn't have a problem with HCG shots either for short-term, but I don't trust that guy. LOL Anyways, the shot for 3 weeks would cost $140 together with a 500 calorie per day woman. I am 2 lbs. short of 300 lbs....what makes me think the HCG shots are making me lose....NOOO, the 500 calories per day is what would make me lose 30 lbs. in those 3 weeks. I love my doctor, but I was shocked when she recommended this.

Online, people use it ONLY to gain it all back. I told her I need energy to run after my four kids and HCG will not be something I will spend money on.

I do drink aloe vera juice every morning - it's a great colon/gut cleanser

So why don't they prescribe it before a colonoscopy?
    [/quoteA

Because they use something else that you purchase from your chemist/pharmacy.

To be honest, I've never seen more dieting WTF's than right here. "Not losing weight? Eat more!"

I'd say the biggest "wtf's" are the people who bash some diets that actually work.
If you look through the forums, at least one person is bashing every diet that exists
or saying that every concept is a lie or myth. It happens all over on here.
Sure, some of them are bad or b.s, but there is quite a few that are true and work.
Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it's a lie.

    100000000000000% agree

Both someone on my facebook and someone in my neighborhood are raving about some plexus slim thing. Neighbor has huge decal taking up the back of her car where you can buy it from her and facebook friend makes several posts a day about how it can change your life and you can lose tons of weight, cure diabeties, and all kinds of ailments by not changing what you eat nor working out

    17. Question: Do I need to eat differently when I am taking Plexus Slim?

Answer: This is a really important question and here is a very simple thing to keep in mind: if you keep on doing what you have always been doing, you will keep on getting what you have always been getting. In reverse, if you want to lose weight permanently, you will need to eat differently than before. Plexus Slim is formulated to help you make a life-style change to your eating habits. Plexus Slim contains natural ingredients that have been shown to reduce appetite. However, some people just ignore their body’s new messages and keep on eating like before. Some people eat emotionally; they eat because they are stressed or upset. Most people are trained to eat with their eyes and eat by the clock. What do we mean by that? Has this ever happened to you? You look at the clock and realize it is supper time. You sit down to eat your supper and realize that you really aren’t hungry. But, because it is supper time, you eat your supper anyway. That’s what we mean by eating by the clock. Some people sit down for a meal and fill up their entire plate with food. Then, they eat until everything on the plate is gone. They are not listening to their bodies. Weight loss specialists tell us that the stomach is really designed to consume a meal that is about the size of a clenched fist. If you go to a restaurant, try ordering an appetizer for your main meal. Wait a few minutes after you finish eating. If you are still hungry after you have had your appetizer, you can always order another appetizer. Our guess is that if you listen to your body, you will realize that you are full. And, one other thing, your pocket book will also appreciate the lower cost of the meal. If you are looking for a restaurant and you see the sign “All You Can Eat” or if you see “Buffet Dinner Tonight”, please drive on. We have been trained to always get the best deal we can for our money. When we are at a buffet that means that we need to go back at least three times AND go for dessert as well just to make sure we get full value for what we have paid. Make a decision: Do you want to lose weight and keep it off by making a small life-style change? If so, Plexus Slim is designed to help you do that. On the other hand, if you want to make sure you are getting the biggest bang for you buck by stuffing yourself at the buffet, you can forget about permanent weight loss.

Good for you! People don't want to work for it anymore. They just want the quick fix. I rather put my heart into it and know that I've earned it. I will be healthy and more energetic in the end. :D

Saw one recently at a fair that said you can lose 15lb in a week by drinking aloe vera (cactus juice).
Um...my mum used to make me drink that stuff as a kid for a while (she always had a new 'miracle' thing can't remember what this was supposed to do now). It was disgusting - probably one of the most vile things I had ever tasted.

I rather weigh the extra 15lb I think even if I believed it would work.

My friend made me try this aloe vera drink a few weeks ago! It was actually kind of good, once you got over the floating aloe bits.

I love aloe, but I've never heard it suggested as a weight loss tool? Supposing you drink the sugar-free kind (blech) instead of the deliciously sweetened 90 calorie/serving kind, I don't see how it would be any different than water. Did they say their reasoning or was it just an "it's like magic!!!" answer?

the stupid "Body Bi Vi" crap I believe to be overrated. Might as well flush your money down the toilet...i'd much rather eat whatever i want and create a caloric deficit, than drink my meals...but i see many of my "friends" on FB sending me invites to purchase thru their link. sure it may work, but i'll just spend a couple hundred on real food.

oooohhh I have a friend on my facebook thats selling some zarenga something or other? I'm probably spelling it wrong... but yeah its gonna cure everything from the diabetus (must be said in wilfred brimley voice) to world hunger I think. soooo annoying! When she's not posting about that she's posting about the evils of wheat gluten (she lost 20 pounds fast by going gluten free! probably because she lived on chicken breast, fish & veggies for 2 months straight before finally looking into gluten free alternative carbs).

I laugh at all of those quick fixes, I used to get suckered into them because of the fabulous promises until I noticed that all of them, no matter what the claims of "eat what you want, no dieting! no exercise!" include a little pamphlet that basically amounts to a low carb 1200 calories or less meal plan with some sissy exercises included.

I did the grapefruit diet, ugh! And now I don't want to ever look at a grapefruit again ... even though the diet was about 7 years ago. My sister and I lost ten pounds, but you have to eat a ton of grapefruits. She would peel hers like an orange. Just thinking about it makes me wanna vomit! Gross!

To be honest, I've never seen more dieting WTF's than right here. "Not losing weight? Eat more!"

There is truth to this but the key is in quality eating. So, it's misleading to just say "eat more" because that doesn't mean fill up on greasy fried food and high sugar.

I eat more than I did before and successfully lost weight but I stayed within the guidelines and boundaries. I kept track of what I was eating and strove for a healthy balance. That's the key.

Eating more is good because you are not starving yourself and don't feel deprived. Just be wise about what you're eating and stay within your recommended macros and you will be fine.

Your body needs fuel to burn calories so you need to eat enough to give it that fuel.

I totally agree you CAN eat more and lose weight...you just have to be very dedicated to eat healthfully and put in some exersice.

google "bullet proof coffee" that guy claims that he eats 2 sticks of butter a day blended into his magic coffee for breakfast along with eating what amounts to a variation on paleo but in craaaaazy high quantities and has a 6 pack that he claims he gained soley from food, has not exercised in years. suuuuuuure buddy, you magically became ripped without a single crunch, let me buy your $20/lb coffee!!
