What kind of crockpot does everyone have? I want to get one but can't afford an expensive one. Any recommendations?
I saw the small Crockpot branded cooker at Walmart yesterday for $10. No fancy gadgets, just like mine. OFF, LO, HI settings. Works great!0 -

I love pulled pork in the crock pot.
I use tenderloin (it's a little more expensive, but leaner and easier to use). Just put a loin or two in with BBQ sauce and cook on low/med for 8 hours. I used one bottle of sauce for two loins and then I usually add a squirt to my sandwich. It's great in pitas.
You should try cooking the pork in diet rootbeer, and then add your bbq sauce after you pull apart your pork.0 -
Dump soup (cuz' all you do is dump in the stuff from the cans) This is an old WW recipe. This doesn't necessarily need to go in the crock-pot as all ingredients are already cooked,
dump all together and heat, super easy and tasty!
each can undrained:
1 can shoepeg corn
1 can veg-all
2 can diced tomatoes (if you can find the chili ready kind that's good!)
1 can black beans
1 can progresso 99 % fat free ministrone0 -
I like to make Turkey Vegetable Soup (or you could make Beef or Chicken soup or you could just make vegetable soup!)
1 lb ground turkey (browned)
1 package frozen mixed vegetables
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can diced potatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 pkg McCormick Beef Stew Seasoning
Water or Broth
Add all to crock pot and simmer on low all day.
You can also add some pasta, barley, or beans to this as well. We get 2 meals out of it (there's 3 of us, but my husband eats like he's eating for 2)
I also like to crumble up cornbread into this.0 -
Just made this last night. Sounds like a lot of ingredients, but easy to make & delicious:
Latin chicken & blackbeans w/sweet potatoes
3 lbs. bone in chicken thighs w/skin removed
2 15oz. cans blackbeans drained & rinsed
2 lbs. sweet potatoes peeled & cut in 2 in. cubes
3 cloves garlic minced
1 red bell pepper chopped
cilantro
1/2 c. salsa
1 c. chicken broth
lime wedges
2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
Sprinkle chicken thighs w/ 1/2 tsp. cumin (or to your taste), salt & pepper. Cook in hot skillet until brown on both sides (approx. 5 mins per side). Place chicken on plate. In same skillet, combine salsa, chicken broth, remaining cumin, paprika & allspice (do not heat). Place sweet potatoes, red pepper & blackbeans in crockpot, layer chicken on top, & cover w/sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours. Sprinkle w/cilantro & serve w/lime wedges. Makes 6 servings.0 -

Pork & potatoes
4 pork chops (with or without bone)
3 lg. potatoes peeled & cubed (yukon or baking)
1 can corn
1 onion cut up
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Put potatoes, corn, & onion in crockpot. Sprinkle w/garlic powder & pepper to taste (or whatever seasonings you like. I don't like salt). Season both sides of pork chops w/garlic powder & pepper and layer them on top of potato mixture. Spread can cream of mushroom soup on top of pork. Cover & cook 7-8 hours. You don't need to add liquid because it will make it's own.0 -

EVERYONE TRY THE SALSA CHICKEN! It was SO good...I just served it over rice, but you could serve it with black beans or shred it for tacos.
In case you missed the recipe:
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can of healthy choice cream of mushroom soup
1 cup of salsa
1 packet of low sodium taco seasoning
Put the chicken in the crockpot and sprinkle the package of taco seasoning on top. Then layer the soup and salsa and let cook for 8 hours on low heat.
I didn't have a full cup of salsa, so I used some leftover diced tomatoes from the night before and minced some pickled jalapenos and threw them in. My chicken cooked on low for at least 10 hours (I forgot to set the crockpot to "keep warm" after 8 hours) and it was perfect.0 -

This is one of my favorite things ever to eat! We put pineapples, pineapple juice, bbq sauce, bbq packet (slow cookers), and whole potatoes out of the can. Then just let it cook. You can put pretty much whatever you want. Sometimes I add mushrooms for my boyfriend. Everything kind of has the same flavor at the end, but it's still good with the different textures, etc. You should really give it a try!! The tenderloins are expensive, but after its shredded its much more meat than you would think!0 -

A favorite in the house has been you take Chicken and stuffing and let it cook together... I don't know what the recipe for it is... but its freaking delicious!0

Mommy2ans- It didn't burn. But, I know what you mean about it having no liquids. If your crockpot burns a lot, just put a little water in it. I don't think it will hurt. JAM0

Macy's right now has a big one for 35 bucks.. they really aren't that expensive and I find myself using it all the time!0
