The only living being in our household not named by my husband or daughter is me. He named our two 10-year-old Tonkinese cats. The slightly older is named Willow. My husband's stated purpose for choosing this name, which I learned after the fact, was to take the name out of circulation in case I decided to add another child to our fold. I had been bandying about Willow as a name for our first child--I really like botanicals. He was horrified. The second Tonkinese is named Stella. For a long time, I thought that he chose this name because we acquired her shortly after another cat, Luna, died and because our daughter's favorite book at the time was Stellaluna. He claims not. Perhaps he just favors astral names.

My DSH mackerel tabby boy is Fagin. He has the mark of Mohamed, 2 very pretty eye-stripes, a beautiful spotty/stripy brown coat, stipy legs and tail, with a white tummy and neck, as though he's wearing an old overcoat with a smart white shirt on underneath. His brother had the same shaped colouring on his coat, but with long black fur, so he was (The Artful) Dodger, but sadly he's no longer around.

My first hamster (when I was in 4th grade) was named Ziggy - I love it!

    My cats are:

Rocky (short for Rocky Road) - he's a striped Tabby
    and
Schnitzle (after a cartoon character) - she's a sweet loveable tortie

My kids named them - they are siblings
