I need to share this story because I'm so insulted.

I was just walking through Boston with my roommates (one of which is overweight), and we were crossing a big intersection. A shirtless middle aged man on a bike was approaching us, so i sped up a bit. My roommate continued walking a regular pace (and she had the time). The guy on the bike however yelled "OUT OF THE WAY, YOU FAT SLOB" at her as he passed. We were all so taken aback and speechless. I've never witnessed such a mean and completely unnecessary comment. A girl who was waiting to cross the other even apologized to us "I'm so sorry..that was so rude".

My roommate was like "whatever" after..but I'm so mad! I seriously cannot believe how cruel people can be. Honestly makes me sad that people like that exist.

So I will play devil's advocate here. Maybe he saw you do the curtious thing by speeding up and when your friend didn't, he assumed she was trying to be an *kitten* by intentionally not speeding up. Not saying what he called her was acceptable but I find it doubtful that someone would simply randomly yell at someone to get out of the way, unless they were in the way.

Sounds to me, from the OP, that she had the right of way anyway and he was just a d!ck.

It's horrible but it's always gonna be around. You can have a raging drug addiction and people would still care more about the extra 30 pounds you carry. And that's why I donate to animals only.

Unfortunately there are just some people who aren't happy unless they're making others unhappy. "Misery loves company," they always say. The *kitten* was obviously one of the miserable people in the world. Far too many of them around. I agree that Karma will prevail.

After jogging 6 miles in hot weather plus working out the other night. . I was walking home - cut through the park and it was a bit dark. . . Some idiots started going OINK OINK OINK at me.

I just laughed and laughed, got out my phone, and called the cops on them. (Teens + past curfew + beer bottles on the ground)

I hope that oinking was worth it to them :)

I get that kind of crap a lot. Whenever I work out outside there is some comments, some laughs, or someone throws stuff at me. I'm finally letting to learn it slide.

My issues can be fixed with continuing on the healthy journey I'm on. . Their issues are obviously far far worse. :) May sound like a stupid way of thinking, but it makes me feel better.

He must have forgot to put the seat on his bike, because you can't be that rude without something up your *kitten*!

Your friend blew it off because she gets it all the time. It is cruel and viscious and I would have made the dudes bike wipe out by sticking something in the spokes as he went by. (I'm nasty like that). Yep I have heard all the crap also, but I have reached the point where I am lashing out now. Might get me arrested some day.

He's rude on a couple of levels, so it is probably deep within him. I ride a bicycle, and i have to say, as much as "it would be nice" if people moved out of your way, pedestrians do have the right-of-way. So, not only did he make such a rude remark, but his actions were also rude. Like I said, it's deeply ingrained, and it's his problem, don't make it yours. We can't change other people, but we can change how we react to them. You're not wrong to be upset. I've often felt that after giving a situation some thought, I wish I would have said something that I didn't. (Like: Don't be a d**k in this case!) But be happy with who you are. Know that although you may not have the body you want now, you are working on it. And you damn well don't need to have this loser's approval to know you're a good person!

My fantasy for that guy would be right after he said something to your friend for him to wipe right out. Karma is a bi*tch. It would have served him right too. He is a RUDE loser in my book!!

I've had many strangers insult me about my weight, they seem to think its ok just to say nasty/cruel/ remarks, but i know even though they put me down and make me cry,i'm better than them because i know i would never be so cruel and nasty as them.

About 16 years ago, I was coming out of a liquor store by my house and there was a car full of young adults stopped at the corner for a red light. They all watched me come out of the store. I smiled at them since they were looking at me. One of the girls said to me, "Try Jenny Craig!" And they all started laughing and sped off in the car. Even now, as I write, I can feel the flush of heat rise to my face. I never understand cruelty. Why be cruel for no reason?

According to Buddhism teaching, Being rude is his sin, letting his rudeness impure your clear mind is yours. I know it's hard. But, you gonna have to learn to let it goes.
