Military Question.....

So let me start and give you my backround....
When I was in high school I wanted to join the Military (Army/NAVY) I am 5ft 3 in and at that current time I was 215 lbs.
A few years down the road that goal was still there, And after teaching Zumba I was down to 185. Yeah right
Now I'm at 160lbs and I'm going strong! Running, working out, eating healthy...Just having a basic healthy lifestyle.
I'm a federal officer and cannot enlist until my probationary year is up (yes they hold my job for me) And I'm 10 lbs away from the Navy but I'm 20 lbs away from the Army regulations.
I'm enlisting so I can go medical.
So IYO Army Medical or Navy medical???
(this is only to get some backround on what everyon else thinks)

I was in the navy so I say navy. Either one will be good.0

Navy Medical. I've been around the Marine Corps for the last ten years though so, I may be biased. Good luck!0

Two very different life styles. Honestly. I am prior Army - loved every moment of it. However, I will say that if the rumors are true, the Navy treats their people better. I would talk to both recruiters before deciding, as well as people from both branches with actual experience in that field. (Was Finance, so can't speak for the Army medics.)
Consider going Nurse Corps?0 -
I have femily that have been in both, and friends also. I want to go Hospital Corpsman studying in Surgical Tech work (Navy) and Army Operating Room Specialist.
Most people have said since your going Medical the Navy would be my best bet.0 -
I'm prior Navy so I'm admittedly a little biased, but either would be okay. Only thing I would say is your duty station would be WAY better in the Navy. Always somewhere on the water, where as in the Army you could end up anywhere. And I mean ANYWHERE0

Well i am a Navy Mom and have lots of friends that are also Navy moms and we all say Navy. but serving your country is a wonderful thing in any branch. Hooyah!0

I'm just an army wife.....GO NAVY. I have some great friends who joined the navy after high school, and close to 20 years later are still loving the life.0

Hi beautiful, I am prior Army and my brother is prior Navy. You'll get treated the way you decide to carry yourself and your level of professionalism. It comes down to facilities, promotion potential, and travel. So research the promotion potential for enlisted soldiers in both branches, look at how many points it takes to get to the next rank. The next question is, how mobile do you want to be? With Army, you might stay in one place anywhere from 1-3 years and only go on short duty trips for training or mission related events. With the Navy, you'll go out at month or two at a time and get to see the world. It would take years in the Army what you would see in 1 or 2 years with the Navy.
If you have kids, I would go for Army.0 -
GOOOOO AIR FORCE!0

GOOOOO AIR FORCE!
this! In the process of enlisting. At 26, better late than never right?0 -
I am an Army Combat Medic. You will not like being an OR tech. The pamphlets and the recruiters make it look so good. You will end up cleaning for the majority of your work day. Check out the OCS and PA programs(IPAP). You should set your sights on being a Medical Officer. If someone would have directed me, that is where I would be now, but I will still get there.0

Not a medic, was Army artillery.
Do you want to deploy and go downrange? Army
Do you want to stay in relative saftey during your service? Navy0 -
Have you talked to requiters or anyone who has been in that field in either branch? Good luck!0

11 years former army and I'd suggest going officer no matter which branch you choose, if not you will spend years doing scrub work like bathrooms and waxing floors and whatnot instead of doing what you enlisted for. the military service is what you put into it, if you have a positive attitude and can follow orders you'll do great.0

Prior Navy here as well and I have to admit that I have heard more horror stories about the Army then I have Navy. But, I am biased to the Navy.0

GOOOOO AIR FORCE!0

Currently in the Army, and my suggestion would be join the Air Force. However, if you're set on Army vs. Navy go Navy. Army has a terrible way of treating its members. Ive had friends and family in the Navy and it is so much better.0
-
It has been my experience that Air Force treats their people better, if I had to choose between Army and Navy, I guess it would be Army only b/c I am familiar with it but I would go where they treat their people better and out of all the branches, the Army is not sooo good in treating their people good. So if the choice is between Army and Navy, go Navy.0

Whatever you choose, it will change your life! My dad was in the Army my entire childhood and then I was in for one term. It was the best time of my life. Not only did I meet amazing people and have exposure to different cultures, but my time in translated well in the civilian world and set me on a solid career path.0
