I'd say if you wouldn't say it to your daughter, don't say it to a stranger. Especially if they are young enough to be your daughter. Saying "I need to go take a cold shower now" after a compliment (which you did previously) is a No No.
Am I just the only one who would just laugh that off?
I really do think depends on sence of humour and the way you understand eachothrt.
to me any compliment is flattery
If someone said I need to take cold shower
Id think to myself 'YEA BABY i still got it LOL
but simply reply LOL thanks and act cool hahaha0 -

No, you're not the only one that would laugh that off. Plenty would even take it as a compliment, but there are plenty that wouldn't. He asked how to make a compliment and not be creepy, and that comment is creepy to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would feel that way.0 -

I don't understand how anyone could take that as a serious remark????0 -
Here is the difference.
When you offer the compliment. are you sporting a chubby?
If yes, then you might want to check yourself.
That's it :drinker:

The difference between compliment and creepy is how good looking the person is.0

Bad looking person: " dang you're hot" that is creepy.
Good looking person: " dang you're hot" that is a compliment.
That should clear that up.0 -

I am always careful to say "That's a great picture", or "Nice" and leave it at that, rather than "You are beautiful or you look hot or you look amazing". As a married man (and my happiness or unhappiness is private really), I believe I am always being tested for *kitten* with everything that comes out of my mouth, so I am pretty careful now.
And yes, I agree the above is because I am handsome, not hot.0 -
Say your compliment and move on.0

"Great job! You look fantastic!" is good.
"I want to unbutton your shirt with my teeth!" is too much.
If you'd feel comfortable saying it in front of your wife, or having someone else say it to your wife, daughter, mother... it's fine.0
