What was going to be a short, easy spin ended up as a long, hard ride.

45 miles at an average pace of 20+mph. Okay, easy one tomorrow, for sure.

    570 miles for the month.

260 miles on my newly purchased bike so far in July...the only month I've had it. It's awesome. Beats any cardio machine i can think of for avoiding boredom.

Road bike ride with my husband this morning. 44 miles in 170 minutes. I struggled getting up some of the hills - my husband tells me: "The hills are your friend. They make you strong." It makes me laugh. (Better than crying, I suppose.)

    Keep the rubber side down!

Oh, my, please don't cough up a lung!

I myself carry about 25% body fat and my husband has about 9%. My theory is that gravity increases for those of us with a greater percentage of body fat; I know I just get slower and slower ... and slooooower as the hill keeps going up and up and up!

I wish we could all share some of Thomas Voeckler's ability! King of the Mountains!

one of the better "preparations" for saddle "hot spots" is Nappy Rash Cream - it's sold in the UK as "Sudocrem" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudocrem - at least as a treatment "post ride" - clean up the affected area thoroughly, and apply. Some people use it as an alternative to "chamois cream" but personally, I far prefer the real thing.

Hit 200 miles for the month with a 20 miler tonight. On pace to reach 250. Not bad for my first month back after a 6 month layoff.

As I am so sore in the bottom area would it be advisable to have a day or two off or just soldier through to try and harden myself?
