How often do you weigh yourself?

I weight myself every morning before breakfast, but only record it once a week. Like others have said it helps to see what affects my gains and losses.0

Daily but i log it weekly0

I try to weigh myself everyday just so I don't get any nasty surprises...it also helps me keep on track because if I see a gain one day I can work out more that day0
-
I weigh myself every morning. After I use the toilet, then I weigh myself. I also keep a daily weight graph and food journal.0

I tend to hop on the scale everyday just to see the changes and the way the weight can fluctuate throughout the day.
I don't count anything as "real" except once a week when I actually weigh in to update.0 -
not very often i am kinda scared to0

I've been weighing myself every 2 weeks. Because I find that is when you can truly see if there's any improvement or not.0

I do it every morning. I'm addicted.0

Once a week. However, that sometimes flexes a little. If I know I'm going to be out of town, I'll weigh before I leave a few days early. So it may be 5 days between weigh in one week and 9 days the next.0

I've realized that the scale is not my best indicator. I've found myself feeling great, only for my progress to be contradicted by the oh-so-powerful numbers registering on my scale. Oppositely, I have had times where I feel as though I have hit a plateau and the numbers indicate a significant loss. As such, I weigh myself at random intervals ( 1-2 times per month ), and have resorted to using a target outfit as my progress indicator, rather than the scale. Good luck to you, and remember the real goal is health, not society's insinuated ideal weight.0

I do it once every few weeks. Since I've moved I can't even find my scale now. For me, I do much better knowing how my clothes fit than looking at the scale.0

I weigh every day. I have been told that it is not good to do that! But I cannot help it. I realize the initial weight loss is fast but it does slow down and stall after that!

I weigh myself almost daily. I measure once a month.
I know that it might go up and down but it helps me keep my nutrition in mind and if numbers go up too much for too many days in a row I know I need to check my routine. Am I sleeping enough? Am I running the same route too often? Am I eating more junk food and saturated fat than I should be eating?
Watching daily just keeps me on track. I know that eating 1200 calories in donuts and lots of saturated fat and I won't lose anything even though I burned 1000 calories in exercise. I can do the same workout but eat 1800 calories in healthy snacks and lean meats and veggies an step on the scale to lose 2lbs.0 -
I have found the best way to weigh myself is every other week. If I weigh myself every week I sometimes hold water and show a gain when I have been faithfully following my food and exercise plan. That can put me in a tail spin and result in my having a hard time. So when I started weighing myself every other week I found I was more often showing a loss and I feel better about not being so dependent on the scale.0

Lol ... Good point!0

It seems like this question has been adequately answered, but I'm often asked this, so I figure I'll pipe in here.
I weigh myself several times a day. I know I'm generally my highest when I go to bed, and my lowest after I workout before showering. The latter is my "official" weight each day. I know that my weight will bounce around. I'm not only measuring fat loss, but hopefully muscle gain as well. And finally, I know that water retention will probably cause my weight to vary quite a bit.
I don't concern myself with my daily ups and downs, or even my ups and downs throughout the week. Instead, I watch the overall slope of the graph of my weight. if i see it going down over time, I'm happy. If I see spikes, I curse, roll with it, and move on.
It's a long and hard journey. I didn't get to 350 pounds overnight; I didn't come back down to 270 overnight; I'm not going to meet my next goal of 250 overnight; and I'm not going to get to my ultimate goal, whatever that is, overnight either. I'm patient, committed, and I'm certainly not going to let minor setbacks derail me.0 -
I weigh in on Sunday's since its a start to a new week. My friend weighs in on Monday's.0

Every morning. If the scale is up, I seriously re-evaluate my previous day's diet.0

Everyday. Everyone knows there are flucuations because of water but you can spot a trend over the course of several days to see the general direction. When i was working out everyday I woud even weigh myself before and after the workout. A couple pounds over yesterday (even knowing it's water relates) would just provide more motivation to do more. Afterwards it was more for seeing how much I lost in water (sweat).0

I only weigh myself once a week. Any more often than that and I drive myself crazy wondering what I may have done wrong that day if I see a gain, etc. I always in first thing in the morning.0

once a day morning but i dont let it distract from what im doing gives me that pos atitude for the day0

I weigh daily and am prepared for the occasional bumps. Had a two pound gain over a couple of days but that only inspired me to workout a little more or a little harder. It worked.0

Once every wednesday morning and sometimes I cheat on thursday morning to make sure it wasnt a false report.0

I rarely weigh myself. I do not own a scale, haven't for years, so, if I remember, I will weigh myself at my parent's place, but that's less than once a week and if I remember. How my clothes fit and the fact that I now recognize myself in the mirror. My weight hasn't budged much in the last month... however... I'm getting in smaller and smaller clothes. So I figure that the fat I'm losing and the muscle I'm building cover each other off, (remembering that a lb of fat is a brick of butter, and that muscle is much more dense). If you need to see your weight loss... go to the grocery store and fill a cart with butter to the equivalent of what you have lost... take a picture with you standing beside it... that is what you have lost. It is not about the numbers, it's how you feel.
When I need an esteem boost, I visit people who haven't seen me in a long time to feel the love! That gives me way more satisfaction that a number on a scale!0 -
I get weighed once per week when I go to my medical weight loss group class. If I check my weight more than that I will drive myself nuts analyzing every single pound. I love the build up of excitement and anticipation and then as soon as I weigh in, I send out an official tweet and blog about it. It's a lot of fun for me that way. :-)
Love the last sentence; thanks for the feedback.0 -
Weighing is once a week for me, and I try not to think about what to expect. So far, it's worked. I try to weigh myself the same time weekly.0

I weigh in every morning because I battle binge, emotional and I like to nibble it helps keep these things in check, keeps me honest and keeps me motivated to keep trying if it goes up I know to put my brain on alert and if it goes down I reward my brain for keepi g my stomach and emotions in check with some Internet game play lol0

I weigh myself only once a week. After a while, you get impatient to see results, so it's tempting to go at it more than once. But I remind myself that if I weigh myself everyday, I'm only looking to disappoint myself and then I'll eventually feel bad for eating at all. So I stick to one week, my weigh-in day being Friday.
I try to use the same scale. The one I was using was a regular digital, but I switched to one that gives you body fat % and stuff like that (even though I pay no mind to it). I don't think it matters what scale you use (I would go with digital though), but I would make sure that you're always using the same scale.
It's amazing though that your scale is telling you a 15lbs loss in a few days... I lost 6lbs in the first week, and the amount I have to lose is only 10lbs less than yours.
I have noticed that with tile floor, it can vary depending on where it's positioned so have moved it to where it can sit undisturbed. Thanks for the feedback:)0 -
I weigh myself every day, at the same time every day (first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom and before taking a shower, and yes completely undressed--only want my true weight ! ) The thing that I have been so happy about is using MFP to be able to track the weight patterns over a 3 month period. I weigh daily and can immediately see what my successes and failures do with my weight, while still seeing that I am on track. I really think that the daily weight checks haven't hurt my motivation it actually has helped me to understand that there can be ups and downs along the way and not to over focus on a particular weight on a particular day (just think if I had a bad weight day and only weighed once a week, I would count the whole week a failure, but with weighing every day, I can see that I did great most of the week, and only had one bad weight day that happened to resolve in a day or two). I also noted that using the weight with the % body fat on the scale, I may not see a weight change for a couple days, but the % fat is changing, then Bazzinng! the weight will drop!
Please note, I really do have a good track record with this method. Although, my MFP only shows 2# total loss, (I found out about MFP and started using it later after I had lost some weight, and then got a back injury and gained back 15# before I could get active again this May) I have actually lost a total of 30# over the past year, 15 of them twice . I started at 5'4" and 168#. I am now 138#. I realize some may think this isn't much, since they have lost much more weight, but I am getting close to my goal of 120# and am changing my body composition with regular focused exercise program.
Great points & info, thanks for the feedback:)0 -
Way too often.... usually once a day, but sometimes twice a day lol0
