Excess sugar
I love candy and all baked goods. When the Easter bunny arrived as a child, I ate my whole chocolate bunny before anyone else was even awake. I dtill struggle with moderation and can't stop myself from overdoing it. Yesterday my roommate said she was starting a detox from sugar for the next 3 weeks starting today. So she…

Hello Ladies, I hope that you all are having a wonderful and successful February. Since I joined MFP, I have been processing a lot of thoughts and mixed feeling. Do you have a favorite recipe that you would like to share?
This is one of my favorite recipes and it is simple and easy to make: Fajita Bowls (it makes 4 servings). Depending on how you make it, it can range from 800 Cal with all the toppings listed below or lighten it up by going vegan with only one tortilla and no sour cream, cheese or avocado. Just 20 minutes from prep to…

February Check In
I've been at this a long time and I always play a little game with myself after the holidays....I don't step on the scale till February 1st. I slack off over Christmas and then buckle down in January. All things considered, this was a very different holiday and one of the few pre-Christmas activities that was still…

YouTube workouts who's your favorite?
I know there are thousands of exercise videos on youtube. But it always suggests the same ones. There are a few popsugar videos that I will do but I need some variety. Sydney Cummings has some good strength training videos too. Who wants to share some of their favorites? Link or give specific titles here. Thanks! I'll post…

Do you subscribe to Beachbody streaming?
Does anyone subscribe? It's not that expensive when you sign up for a year @ $99. I am wondering if they have a good amount of low impact programs. I had done P90X about 10 years ago and damn, it was hard. And honestly I'm not sure I can do that anymore. I see all the ads for Shaun T and they jump around a lot. They have…

I have some health issues that may limit the kind of exercises that I can do, but I'm not going to use them as an excuse to be sedentary anymore. I have been walking more and doing some low-impact…

Have any of you read "Change your Brain, Change your Body" by Daniel G. Amen M.D?
Good Friday Morning Ladies! I just came across this Book and Videos on YouTube addressing changing the brain in order to change the body, just curious if any of you have read this and if so, what are your thoughts? As a therapist, I know that the body goes wherever the brain takes it, so it makes sense that we need to…

Should I take an iron supplement?
When I read my nutritional analysis on MFP dairy I am always low on iron. I usually don't even get to the 50% amount. I am 63 and do take a "mature" multivitamin but it does not contain iron. I am a vegetarian and do not eat meat so I cannot get my iron through that. I am wondering if I should be taking a supplement? Do I…

Thread for those doing Breath with Adriene
Thought it would be fun to discuss the 30 day Breath series with anyone doing it. Did day 1 yesterday. This is the first 30 day that I have done when it dropped. Day 1 was nice and slow so I could focus on breath and alignment.

Returning to the gym?
Chicago is relaxing some gym restrictions. My local gym, which until last March I was a member for 15 years is now doing a few classes starting Friday. Although I rarely do classes. I miss the treadmill, rower and elliptical along with the weights. My gym is big for being in the city and I've always thought they were…

Breakfast Club
I love breakfast. Its probably my favourite meal of the day. Okay.....to be honest, all meals are my favourite hahaha. This morning I made a pot of porridge using my own blend of large oatmeal flakes, cream of wheat, cornmeal, barley flakes, spelt flakes, poppy seeds and ground flax. I cook it with half milk/half water. I…

Did our metabolism slow down after 50 or did WE slow down after 50??
For years, I've heard women say, "wait til you hit 50 and your metabolism slows down to nothing" True or false? For me..weight gain happened because I slowed down. When I was in my early 50's, I had night sweats and hot flashes that were brutal, but I still worked out, I was still pretty active. I put on a few pounds, but…

Tripped and trying to get back up....
Last week was a rough one for me. It started with Monday vibes- my phone fell out of my pocket and was run over by a car. My dad is quite ill, either having kidney failure or bladder cancer on top of his leukemia, but mom cancelled his doctor appointments because he's too tired to go. Then, the Jan 6th events were very…

Working out at home..tips?
I loved my gym. I could walk there, it had great hours and was super clean. Also independently owned, not a chain. Since covid I haven't been back, even tho they are open. I did my own thing. Lifted weights a few days a week and used some cardio equipment each visit. Tradmill, elliptical, rower and stair stepper.. Now I'm…
