Banded august 9th
Hey y'all! Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jess. 24 years old from San Francisco. I had the lapband surgery on August 9, 2012, with 64 lbs to lose (I started at 70 lbs to lose before my pre-op diet). I've lost 10 lbs in the past 2 weeks, and 16.6 lbs in total. I am feeling great. I just really can't wait to…

That awkward moment...
When you've logged a nice, yummy, healthy lunch, and your lap band decides not to cooperate, and you are torn between either trying to figure out how many calories you DID actually manage to eat, or waiting a little while and seeing if you can eat it later... lol Anyone else ever face this annoying dilema? I SWEAR it only…

PLEASE HELP!!!

She is saying my eating will not bother her or the smell of food. I do have transplant doctor's (I have a heart transplant) permission to join her in the liquid…

What should I pack for my hospital stay :)
My Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass surgery is scheduled for Aug, 2, but I was just contemplating what to pack for my hospital stay. What items were you thankful for packing and what items did you wish you would have packed? I don’t want to be stuck at the last minute scrambling packing my bag. Thanks :)

has anyone had RNY surgery that is on 24 hour oxygen?
I am on 24 hour oxygen due to pulmonary hypertension. I was told if I lost weight I may be able to stop oxygen use. Has anyone had the surgery that is on oxygen? I also have sleep apnea but have never been able to use the c-pap or bi-pap because I am extremely claustrophobic and have even pulled the mask off in my sleep (I…

1 Year ago yesterday I made one of the best decisions of my life. I attended a bariatric seminar which helped me to finally make the decision to have RNY surgery. Wow what a difference a year makes. Its hard to believe, but the time has flown by and I am a whole different person with a different outlook on life. Can't wait…

Food Taste
Has anyone noticed that foods taste different after having gastric bypass surgery? I think ketchup is now one of the natiest tasting things ever. Actually, anything with a tomato base to it has a wierd taste. Am i going nuts or has anyone else noticed this about foods too?

Embarrassed to tell people?
Is anyone else struggling with being embarrassed to tell people about having bariatric surgery? My psychologist and team have told me that I shouldn't be and deep down I know that I shouldn't be - but I'm still having a hard time talking about it. So far, I've told my husband, my Mom (not my Dad), and one colleague who is…

Anyone get a FitBit yet?
Just got my new Fitbit and have spent the last hour setting it up and synching the Fitbit and MFP websites together. I'm excited to see how everything will work and eager for the tracking to begin. Too bad I'm now headed to bed. But at least I can check the sleep tracker! Does anyone else have one? Any issues? I know I'll…

Going for my first visit with the Surgeon today
Just starting the process and feeling a little nervous. Also leaving for vacation on Friday so I'm afraid I'm setting myself up for failure. Any advice that is offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Exercise
So I'm just past one month post op and I've been cleared to do swimming and light cardio exercises. No weights yet. What kind of exercise did everyone do when starting out, besides walking, and for how long? I have been going to the gym and doing cardio for about 45 minutes everyday. I am also going to start swimming for…

i know i am doing something wrong.
I had gastric sleeve surgery June 4 and lost 20 pounds very quickly. But now not only have i been at a total stand still for the past three weeks, i gained a pound today. I am getting enough protein and I am under my calories. I am having trouble getting enough liquid in but that is the only thing I can think of that I am…

Bypass experience
This is something somewhat unpleasant, but I've always wanted to ask other bypass patients. What were the first 2 weeks like after your surgery? I had the most invasive, RNY. They said everyone will have different experiences, but my first two weeks were awful with pain. I've had a 9mm kidney stone and multiple large ones,…

For Post-Surgery People: How Many Months/Years are you Out?
Hi: I'm new to this board. I had RNY Gastric Bypass in December 2002. I was 351 pounds then, got down to 229 in about 1 year or so.... then have slowly gained back 60 pounds (and had a pregnancy during that time). Therefore, I'm almost 9 1/2 years out. I never got as low as I'd like, but it's frustrating to GAIN back 60…

Long Term Posties
I'm almost 8 years out (November will be 8yrs) and my last visit to my surgeon was in 2007 before moving to Wisconsin. I haven't had blood work done. I have been intermittent at best for taking any kind of vitamins. I don't have a horrible diet -- I try to stay away from most fried things and too much salt or fat.. I eat…

new to group
Hi, I had gastric bypass in November, 2011. My starting weight was 258, I'm now 161. I didn't join my fitnesspal until Jan though, so, on here I've lost 41 lbs, but I've actually lost 97! I'm approaching the one year mark and I hope that I'm able to get to my goal of 136. I seem to be getting more discouraged lately, I…

How much water?
So I have a difficult time getting all of my water in....never do...I get somewhere around 40-48 ounces in on a good day. I know the more water we drink the less we retain and it helps flush our systems, and other than a protein shake all I drink is water and I sip all day, but still cant get it all in. What's a girl to…

New to this Group
Hello Everyone, My name is Hope and I had VSG on 3/23/12. I am down 58 lbs and at my first "stall". It does not concern me however, I am now working diligently to change some habits. I am trying to get on a regular work out schedule and to plan my meals. My daily calorie intake is pretty low 700-900 calories generally.…

Almost 6 months out, sort of stalled...and sort of not
Hello All, I am new to this group and I need the collective experience of you all to help me figure out what is going on here. I got my band on 23 February. I was told to stay at around 1200 calories per day and I did that for the first three months, no problem. Then I was allowed to exercise again. By the time I started…

lost weight - lost friends?
So i have lost a significant amount of weight and although I haven't really lost friends my relationships have changed. When i was one of the "Fat Girls" - and I do consider myself still a fat girl and probably always will. We would go out and eat, have a great time and talk about dieting and losing weight while eating…

NSV surprise
So I went to do a little shopping for some new clothes, I'm very comfortable in my 16 shorts and jeans but all my work clothes are 22's and frankly they look horrible on me now. I grabbed a couple of 16 slacks to try on, they fit great and then bought a size 14 to mark my next goal. I decided to try on the 14s when I got…

Should I be worried?
Hey guys...quick question...so I'm almost at the end of my pureed phase for RNY. However, recently, in the mornings my stomach seems to be irritable. Twice this week I've gotten sick on cottage cheese in the am, which has been a staple of mine during this phase. Lunch and dinner typically go off without a hitch--with the…

Do you pick at your food?
OK so we all know that when you go out for dinner or grab something from the cafeteria at work...nothing comes in small portion sizes. I have learned to eat slowly, but once I am done with my food and feel full I will still pick at it and continue to eat until everyone else is done instead of getting it boxed up or…

Hernia Q
So mid way through July while on vacation I got this strange pain in my side right at one of my incision points that met all the criteria/symptoms for a hernia. I know from my own mother's experience with hernias that if it wasn't big or bad enough to operate on yet the doctor would just tell me to rest and let it have a…

My LapBand Story
My short story, for those interested. Please message if any questions- I'll answer if I can :) I had a LapBand put in April 08, and it was removed just at 5 months later. It was a nightmare. I lost over 100lbs in less than 5 months and nearly died from starving to death. (From 310 down to 186) Hard to believe you can still…
