  • It's "a thing" to mix seltzer with cold brew coffee concentrate. I've tried it with a few flavors and so far I liked it best with orange flavored seltzer.
  • I'm in the same boat. Due June 2. The first trimester I was super hungry all the time, and had asthma that made it hard to exercise. Now I want to make sure I am eating right and get back to some gentle exercise.
  • This looks good!
  • Breathe out while your face is in the water. That way, when you lift your head to breathe, air can be going in the whole time. I was a swimming instructor and this was one of the key things I taught.
  • Soup? I made vegetable soup and put black-eyed peas in it for protein. The warmth was comforting, the liquid filled me up, and it had lots of vitamins. I did eat bread and cheese with it, but still it seemed like a good option. Herbal tea is good for warmth and comfort too.
  • My mom is in her 60s and follows the Kate Potter Namaste Yoga videos daily: http://www.katepotteryoga.ca/aboutkate.html My yoga teacher is also in her 60s! She has seen and liked the Kate Potter ones too. Disclaimer: I've never seen or tried these videos myself, and it depends on the person's health conditions and existing…
  • How much are you warming up? I find it helps to, for example, walk for several blocks before beginning to run. Or the equivalent slow version of whatever it is I want to do. I still cough, but like you said, I find that the exercise helps in the long run.
  • This sort of thing: http://worththewhisk.com/2009/09/16/light-pumpkin-custard/ Note: I have not made that exact recipe and can't vouch for it.
  • That's a treatable condition, isn't it? So you could see a doctor or a naturopath, or if it seems sub-clinical, read a book about the condition and try its recommendations.
  • Have you considered adjusting your activity level instead?
  • Are there any fruits or vegetables around at all? Canned tuna? Canned tuna mixed with some vegetable can be decent, maybe with a small amount of pasta too. Is there any soup? What about eating something you would normally have for a different meal? You could make "breakfast for dinner" with eggs or oatmeal. (Or is it so…
  • I wear a ponytail. I've noticed that a lot of people with layers in their hair wear stretchy elastic headbands and then also a ponytail holder. Like this: http://www.polyvore.com/scunci_4pk_thin_elastic_headbands/thing?id=56837962 Or these: http://www.lucy.com/Hats/Headbands/Scarves/Hats_Headbands,default,sc.html Here's an…
  • So for those of you who do the low carb thing or get carbs only from fruits and vegetables: do you find that a high percentage of your diet comes from fat? I've noticed that if I eat, for example, salad with dressing, fruit, and nuts, I end up with a high percentage of fat. I know fats from things like nuts and olive oil…
  • The food looks good, but it doesn't look like you're really eating enough. Is that you in your profile pictures? If so, you are already thin.
  • The big ones? They're used extensively in a lot of Korean recipes. You can shred the radishes and some carrots and add a rice vinegar dressing to make a salad. Simmer them in sweetened soy sauce to make a side dish. Add chunks of them to stews. I don't have specific recipes, but you can probably find some.
  • Popcorn, vegetable tray, fruit salad with lemon juice in the dressing so things won't turn brown. A cheese ball made with farmer's cheese or something (healthiness depends on recipe).
  • Volcanic Red organic Peruvian. It's a balanced medium roast. I drink my coffee black. I buy whole beans at the local Sprouts grocery store and grind it as needed. http://www.volcanicred.com/OrganicFairtrade.htm Peerless Organic Peruvian is good too: http://www.peerlesscoffee.com/ I use a small coffee grinder and then I…
  • My boyfriend does the grilling. He gets wood planks to grill fish on. He also makes little foil trays (I've seen reusable metal ones for sale too) for grilling vegetables like mushrooms and asparagus. He also does steaks and chicken. He'll buy a large pack of chicken, cook it all on Sunday or Monday, and eat it in…
  • Bumping for myself (high risk of osteoporosis). Thanks!
  • I was on the swim team in high school and we did weight training twice a week to get stronger. We had some basic weight machines at the school, the same kinds of things you would find in an average gym. I found the pulldown bars and the one where you sit and pull the bar toward you very helpful. Free weights would probably…
  • Warm up slowly. If you are running, don't break into a sprint right away; walk for a while first. If you are swimming, get used to the cool water and swim slowly first. Etc. If you get to the point of racing, warm up before the race starts and use the inhaler.
  • Does anyone else have any ideas for these? A physical therapist gave me one and assigned me particular exercises to fix some back problems I was having. It worked! I got some more, but I only know a few things to do with them. I have a gym membership, but I like having these to do just a little bit at home.
  • Lucy.com. It's expensive at full-price, but they have a lot of good sales. They also have physical stores in a few areas.
  • A. It's hard to say over the internet. You might want to ask your doctor. That doesn't mean it's necessarily something really bad. I get dizzy like that sometimes after working out because I have naturally low blood pressure. B. Did you eat enough before exercising?
  • Along the bluffs in Santa Monica! I love the fresh ocean air there.
  • Be sure you are breathing out all your air while your face is in the water. You should be blowing bubbles the whole time. That way, when you turn your head to breathe, you are using all the time to take in clean, fresh air.
  • For American-style yogurt, I like Cascade Fresh. They have a lot of different flavors that are all sweetened with fruit and fruit juice. I like them for snacks. The plain is not bad either.

  • My boyfriend loves sweets and always wants to order dessert to share on the weekend. If I don't want to go crazy with dessert, I encourage him to choose an option that he likes and I'm not that fond of. (I know I'm unusual in this, but I don't really like tiramisu or cheesecake. I love chocolate though.) Then I take a few…
  • Favorite: Eagle! It actually comes naturally to me to wrap my arms and legs around each other like that. Least favorite: Half moon. I have tight hamstrings, so my hand doesn't go to the floor and I have to balance it on a block instead. Also, I usually fall over. I'm lasting longer before I fall over these days, at least.
