The whole Africa argument feels very retro. There is a point about the resources that it takes to produce food (both environmental and human effort) but that doesn't mean that you have to eat absolutely everything. Take it as a lesson in portion control.

Courgette. Aubergine. Biscuits.

Great idea - I had one done for my wedding in 2013. It was expensive, so I won't join you, but GOOD LUCK! (And start looking for a good photographer, good undies & good accessories now - it took me quite a long time!)

These things are all the thoughts I have myself. I always wanted to have children until we got married. At that point I think I realised that I don't have to have children, and I could just... not. I'm 29 and whilst I don't feel in a tremendous rush to make a decision, my husband is 36 later this year. He has always said…

Also watch out for polar bears. They do not care about the calorie content of your average human desert explorer. They only care about hitting their protein goals. I'm sorry for being snarky. To add something constructive to the discussion - I love sorbet.

I'm in. I'm running the Race for Life 5k at the end of June so I'm ready to do this.

It is good for toning (when done consistently) but like all exercise, only works when combined with sensible eating. There is a hula-hooping group here on MFP.

I had dental surgery as a teenager - lots of soup and yoghurt, and then introducing soft bread (I had the middle out of French bread) as my wounds started to heal. Mashed potato is a good one - you could also mash other vegetables.

That doesn't make sense. You could gain weight eating those things if you ate enough of them. OP - patience is a good thing to develop right now.

JUST MAKE IT STOP. Really, reading the bullet points at the top of the page made me angry. I had to stop otherwise I'll be that crazy person in the office shouting at their computer. This type of journalism really annoys me because people read it and believe it because they view the Wail as a reputable source of…

Be careful if you're running - it is worth getting a decent pair of running shoes to avoid injuries rather than wearing rubbish cheap trainers.

Plain rice has fewer calories than pilau rice. Try to go for a sauce that is not too creamy - something like a rogan, which is tomato-based. Also, beware the breads (whether naan, chapati or roti) - they are generally all very high in calories.

I'd quite happily eat meat that has been sitting in the fridge for about five days. Having said that, I would suggest that you make sure it is properly wrapped/packaged, and that your fridge is definitely working properly and keeping everything nice and cold. I always stick to use-by/sell-by dates on meat products too (I…

What's the point in logging anything at all, then? Surely accuracy is the intended outcome... so why wilfully do it wrong? Is this not the same as weighing your food without taking it out of the packaging?

A therapist can give you support and advice. A nutritionist might also be a good resource for you.

Starvation mode doesn't exist. 1100-1300 is rather low, especially as it sounds like your job is quite active. I agree with the suggestion of eating a higher-calorie meal after you finish work.

How much water are you drinking?

Sweet chilli sauce. Yum!

No.

Ebay?

I like this thread. :D You do lose weight in the sauna; if you weighed yourself immediately before and after, you'd be lighter afterwards. However, this is only because you've sweated off some water weight. As soon as you drink anything, you'll put the weight straight back on. It's similar to the weight-loss effects of…

Why are you eating so much less than MFP says you ought to?

28, been married a year, and no kids (of my own) - I have a 12-year-old stepdaughter - and really undecided about whether or not I want to have children of my own. Could someone please explain why anyone would think that someone who doesn't want to have children is selfish? I don't understand.

I think this is probably the core of the problem - she'd like to spend some time doing something active with you, rather than watching you run off into the distance, having spent the day separated from you by work/childcare responsibilities. How about something like tennis or badminton that you can do together, and that…

Most things in Pret are pretty good; they give you fairly decent nutritional info on the packet so you can make well-informed choices. I also think they do more interesting sandwich fillings than other similar places. What other places do you have near your office?

You'll gain weight if you take in more calories than you burn, regardless of where you burn (or don't burn) the calories.
-
Yes - there is a problem. You're not eating enough. You should net 1200 after exercise, and perhaps even more because that is a low intake for most people. How are you getting too much vitamin C? I wouldn't worry about it; your body can't hold on to vitamin C for very long so you do need to keep replenishing it. I think…

I am! Still hooping away, intermittently, but trying to do at least 15 minutes a day.
