  • I make an electrolyte drink! Fresh lime juice, stevia, baking soda, pink salt... I think that's it. It's not as low carb as I would like but I use for emergencies, and it works great for me. & Yes, get more fat! As much fat as you can. I just got done eating some ribs & broccoli with 1.5 TBSP coconut oil on top
  • I limit the amount of grains and starches my kids have now. They'll have sprouted grain bread for sandwiches for lunch, other than that the only carbs they get are from dairy, fruit and veggies. My kids are healthy, but my son does have neurological disorders so too much grain or starches can cause headaches. Pretty much…
  • x2! I can't handle dairy well, cheese and creams - all that good stuff. I can have butter but that seems to stall my weightloss to a certain point, the only plus side is that it doesn't make my intestines burn like cheese or cream. Are you allergic to coconuts? Unsweetened coconut milk has less carbs than unsweetened…
  • Yes I've tried it, and it is disgusting! lol I think I will jump on the May challenge and eat fatty meats and bone broth to keep my fats high. I did some thinking and some reading and I think it's something I would really benefit from.
  • I can give it a try. I have to have uncured bacon. My body hates me :(
  • I was thinking about joining but since my body doesn't agree with dairy, there's absolutely no way I could do this without plant oils. I'll keep doing my own thing.
  • Yes, not the same symptoms though. I get a burning sensation in my intestines when I eat something that doesn't agree with me. I found this to be the case with grain, dairy, cured meats and anything else that tastes really good... but what really feels good is the way I feel when I DON'T eat them, and that is worth so much…
  • ABSOLUTELY! All of my cravings are gone since being in ketosis!
  • Glad it has been shared! I think this should be a sticky as well, I've struggled with being low carb for a year & when my friend wrote that note, it changed me in the most positive way.
  • can't help ya there. I had 37g of fat in my breakfast. :D
  • I don't have diabetes but I'm doing low carb for my thyroid issues. Today I have 12g net carbs. 35g total if you count all carb intake. I've gone much lower than this and I feel great either way. Out of all the diets I've tried, this has really helped me the most.
  • I buy epsom salt and soak in the tub to absorb the magnesium. When you crave sweets it means your body needs magnesium.
  • I find that if I eat more than 70g protein per day, I stall. I also find that if I have things like cured meats, cheese, cream, and diet soda, it stalls my weight loss too. Eventually I will stop drinking diet soda but right now it is my crutch. I've seen people do zero carb for a couple days to about a week to break their…
  • No shame here. This may gross out some people, but I have no apologies... I eat *at least* 1lb of butter, 1/2 lb coconut oil, and 1/2 lb olive oil per week. I also eat lots of eggs and bacon. I make my own protein shakes using raw eggs. I'm a crazy chicken lady. ETA: if you're like me, feel free to add
  • Same here. I've been logging on this site off and on for 3 years now. Just hard to get back into it. I injured myself a year ago and quit going to the gym to give myself time to heal. I also stopped logging. I felt very discouraged because I thought I was eating healthy but wasn't seeing results. I ended up damaging my…
  • I'm in the same boat as you, & I'm only 33. I completely cut out all dairy (I ate some after the induction period & it sets my abdomen on fire), quit caffeine (I've lost weight quitting caffeine). I did Atkins 2x before & lost the weight easily. 3rd or 4th time later, nothing's happened. I found that I lose weight having…
  • I entered a 12 week transformation challenge & that was my plan if I won any cash that I would donate it to a charity ran by a friend of mine. It's a great way to stay committed to your goal. You can do that as well as helping in your community - whatever gets you to move around more.
  • 1986 Popples tin lunch box. After that it was the brown bags
  • Love this pic! Welcome! :flowerforyou:
  • My son - he's the strongest person I know! He has 3 neurological disorders, 2 major brain surgeries, and numerous amount of testing and still can smile. Never give up, never never never ever give up!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cirr2GeW7M
  • I second this.

  • You look so much younger!!!
  • Berlin Natural Bakery whole grain spelt bread non-GMO verified. Food For Life brown rice tortilla. You need to keep these in the freezer, they don't have any preservatives in them and they go bad within less than a week of defrosting. You can find them in the freezer section at the store. -or- Romaine/swiss chard wraps.
  • I haven't lost any weight in 7 MONTHS! And by weight I mean FAT, but I'm still training and eating good. I've come this far, might as well not stop, right? I wish I could lose 4lbs (of disgusting fat!) right now. Count your blessings please, you're doing great.
  • Add xanthan gum :)
  • the leg extension machine can be bad for the knees if your knee is under a 90 degree angle, and if you have knee problems you should have it set greater than 90 degrees. I was in physical therapy for 3 years total learning how to walk again from a knee injury and I do have atrophy in my left quad. The leg extensions helped…
  • I cannot set up a time line for anything, it puts more stress on me which will make me gain fat. I've been on a 7 month plateau stuck between 2lbs... but I've gained strength. Instead of measuring your weight, try measuring yourself with a tape measure. I haven't lost weight but I've lost inches. Hope that helps.
