  • It's great stuff - far less fat than the real thing and brilliant for making chili, the recipe I make is my boyfriend's favorite meal :) Hope you enjoy it!
  • Oops - double post :(
  • There's a Christmas Market in our city at the moment too - so many good smells! Last year I would have been eating the hot caramel hazelnuts and swigging mulled wine with gay abandon ;) If it was me, I'd probably just try to lose the carb element of whatever stall food I bought - burger without the bun and extra salad? Go…
  • I love having mini goals and rewards along the way - weight loss can feel quite thankless at times, if you're only focused on your ultimate goal weight! Great to have a few mile stones / celebrations along the way. I've set myself a mini goal of weighing 149lbs at the end of 2011. If I can do that, I'm going for a proper…
  • Regarding your question about exercising during your period - if you're feeling weak, its probably because your iron levels are depleted from the bleeding. It's easy to get a little anemic, leading to feeling weak / breathless / exhausted. Pop an iron supplement (take it with orange juice for max absorption) - and load up…
  • You have *amazing* cheek bones :)
  • Personally, I would be lost without Cholula Hot Sauce ;) Can't go wrong with roasted garlic and fresh herbs....
  • I've read that 3 portions of low fat dairy a day can help promote weight loss (based on trailed tests of two controlled groups etc.) Something to do with the calcium (plus protein keeping you full I guess.) I'd be a little skeptical of the claim it will specifically target belly fat - it would be nice though :)
  • Don't be disheartened! You've done brilliantly well - everyone starts showing their loss at different stages, and to differing degrees. A few more pounds might make all the difference, and you'll start getting those compliments you deserve! :)
  • Add me, fellow veggies! Been vegetarian since I was 3 years old (the age at which I figured out what meat was, and freaked out!) I cook largely clean, and almost always from scratch and I'm always very, very happy to share recipes! :)
  • Thanks so much for going to the trouble of posting this - I was looking for a nice flapjack recipe, as me and my boyfriend are taking a long train journey soon and I wanted to pack some as healthy snacks!
  • I'm so jealous! I would love a pup to run with but were renting at the moment, just not the right time to get a dog sadly. We do have a very cheeky ferret called Monty, but he has his own ideas about which direction we should be heading when we take him out for walks ;)
  • I used to get told Mena Suvari or Sophie Dahl all the time (but I was working in a bar - so I put it down to beer goggles / guys after free drinks!)
  • Do iiiiiiit! I don't have before or after pics but I know it's *really* toned me up - I can do a push up now, and my cardiovascular capacity is a million times better than it was :) I did 30 days straight of L1 and L2 (just joined a gym, so am doing loads of classes there at the moment, but will start a 30 Day cycles of L2…
  • I find people who see me every day didn't notice so much (because of the gradual change) until I hit 20lbs - now my boyfriend and family comment almost everyday! Friends who I see less frequently were saying nice things after around 14lbs :)
  • I'm vegetarian (aspiring vegan!) Feel free to add me, always happy to swap recipes, good links etc :D
  • I've started cycling everywhere and it's doing GREAT things for my thighs (and I'm saving so many bus fares!) Worth a try if you have a bike!
  • Yup - don't beat yourself up about it :) The way I see it - we're all here to take steps towards eating healthy for life. It would be unrealistic to say we're NEVER going to eat a brownie again! I know I will! It's just balance... If it makes you feel any better, I scarfed down a cupcake and handful of M&Ms yesterday…
  • Breaks my heart to hear what you went through, I'm truly so sorry. I can't speak from any kind of experience, but I can absolutely see where you're coming from. I can only guess that in the same position, I'd try to turn the whole ugly cycle on its head. Rather than feeling weakened by the terrible things that happened to…
  • I'm pretty certain that avocado is meant to be great for your skin and hair - eaten, turned into homemade masques, or both :D
  • I make oatmeal with a twist - I use Spelt flakes instead of oats. I find they keep me fuller longer than oats do for some reason... I mix in some cocoa powder, and if I'm going all out, I'll slice a banana over the top for an extra potassium boost :) Maybe try incorporating some protein to your breakfast to keep you…
  • Oh, this guy clearly fancied the pants off you! Classic, immature school boy "steal your pencil case, get your attention" behavior. So desperate to get a rise / reaction, sorry you had to deal with such an idiot though  I'm veggie. I never, ever jump down people's throat with my thoughts / opinions - but if someone…
  • Yup, I'm veggie and I've done it before :) Stick to lots of low fat yoghurt, quark, egg whites, cottage cheese, Quorn products etc and you'll be fine in the attach phase.
  • Don't know if it helps, but I've started drinking hemp milk, and I'm liking it so far :) It's a good source of Omega oils for veggies who don't eat fish, *and* it tastes nice! I use it to make porridge / oatmeal etc... As I said, don't know if this is particularly helpful, but it's a good alternative to soya milk if you…
  • Awesome, hope this helps! I was a little flaky at taking mine too but now I keep my multi-vits at work on my desk, so I see them and remember to take them - you can also set a reminder alarm on your phone :)
  • I'm having these homemade "Fiesta" burgers for dinner tonight - can't wait! I reckon they'd tempt even the most dedicated omnivore :D http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/2011/04/black-bean-fiesta-veggie-burgers-slaw.html
  • Ohhh I feel your pain! Are you getting enough iron in your diet? I find I have far fewer cravings during my TOTM if I'm keeping an eye on this - a multivit with iron (taken with orange juice for good rates of absorption) can do wonders for keeping cravings down. Our stores can get very depleated each month - cravings are…
  • Hello :) I'm half way through the Shred, but I'm planning on keeping going throughout August, so I'm more than happy to badger you / be badgered! I'm loving it so far! Feels great to have some structured exercise factored in each day - and I'm already seeing some results. Wearing a horizontal striped, jersey maxi dress…
  • Yup, I use them for a daily iodine boost :)
  • I cycle to and from work every day and I've often wondered this - be interested to hear any responses :) As I've felt myself getting fitter and stronger, I generally try to push myself a bit harder (i.e. cycle a little further up the steepest hill, a little faster on the flat stretches etc) so that I'm always feeling it :)
