  • I'm trying to remember how the fitbit accounts for resting calories. I *think* it subtracts them out. I know it's not double counting. And yes...my goals are set on sedentary because I have a big time desk job and finding time to move can be a challenge. :) I am eating back a portion now - and that seems logical. MFP yells…
  • I did read all the instructions when I signed up - but I've gotten so much conflicting advice that it makes my head spin. So...to clarify: 1. I do weigh or measure pretty much everything that goes in my mouth...and where I can I simply barcode scan items so I know calories are accurate. If in doubt, I go log higher…
  • I should probably add that I am using a fitbit to record all step activity so I'm pretty confident in calorie burn.
  • Hey all - I have a similar question. I've been doing C25K for 2 full weeks, going into week 3. Up until I started that, I was walking 3 miles or more a day at a rate of 3.5-4 mph. Started this journey right about 200 lbs...lost 12 lbs in 6 weeks with walking. In the last two weeks, I've lost NOTHING. I'm not gaining,…
  • Me too, me too, me too!
  • I'm a 42 year old working mom and so NOT a morning person...but the 14 YO now has to be to school by 7:35, so I'm getting up earlier than I used to. Hate it! I'm mom to 2 boys (10 and 14) with very busy schedules and married to a great guy with icky chronic illness. It leaves a lot on my shoulders much of the time. Doesn't…
  • Add me if you want. Our stories are a bit similar. Posting my "re"introduction shortly.
  • I've had mine a month as well - and I love it. I have a desk job, so I've set my fitness level at sedentary, but I'm finding I move a lot more than I thought I did. Its helpful to let me see what I've actually done that day and it's totally ridiculous how much it motivates me to move with that darn flower. : ). It's…
  • I finished level 1 - I was doing great by day 10 and never got super sore. Started level 2 tonight and I was in hell. It was WAY harder for me. I was pretty much doing the advanced moves on level 1 - except for pushups. Level 2 seems like its focused on core. LOTS of plank based exercises - and that is where my "girl"…
  • Just finished level 1 and can see a difference. Started level 2 tonight. It kicked my butt. I will be oh so sore tomorrow. But it seems to work. And for those asking for the comparison, I've heard p90x is harder - 30 ds is set up for beginners - but it's a good workout no matter what your fitness level is.
  • I actually had a long talk with both my physician and a nutritionist friend about this. While neither of them would advocate for drinking large quantities of alcohol, carbonated and/or caffeinated beverages, they both said they would count towards my water intake. Juice would too. The water in them counts - the "other"…
  • Count me it, if you want! I'm on most day! And I love that you're from Dublin! I've been over three times in the last 6 years! Love love love your country!!!
  • I can so relate. I came back from a week of vacation and now I've had a week of not being able to get motivated AT ALL. Today is my reset day! :) It's OK...we've all been there! Just pick youself up, dust yourself off and start again!
  • Having lived in both Washington (Bremerton/Silverdale area on the peninsula) and now in the Portland area, I absolutely love the NW. I love how green it is and the combination of mountains and trees. I even love the rain. That said, I think my favorite spot in WA is Olympic National Park but I also love Pt. Townsend. Down…
  • Me too! It's pretty darn good!! And I have one piece toasted with a bit of Nutella on it for my after workout treat!
  • Feel free to add me if you want. I'm a 40 yo working mom of 12 yo and 8 yo boys. I work in human resources doing a variety of things - but the hours can get crazy. : )
  • That's exactly my problem!!! It's crazy. The timex is saying I'm burning 2x the cals anything else is. I've checked all the reviews and no one mentioned anything like that.
  • So for those of you with the timex - I just got the zone trainer - I'm finding it is showing a MUCH higher calorie burn than my Nike+. I walked for 30 mins last night - 4mph. Nike+ showed a 280 or so but the HRM showed 440. It seems like a huge difference to me, so I'm a little afraid to trust it. I did use the submax…
  • The HRM I have does not allow VO2 entry, but I did calculate my max heart rate using a submax fitness test. That rate came out at 185 bpm. My low rate for the workout was 114 bpm, high was 179 bpm and average was 165 bpm, putting me at an average of 89% intensity for the workout. I was doing intervals - so high intensity…
  • OK...so for my question, that makes more sense. Nike+ does not calculate in heart rate at all, so it is just calculating based on distance, time, weight, sex and age. What I found last night was that the workout I had been doing was WAY intense. I spent 25 of 35 minutes outside of my zone....most if it above the ceiling #.…
  • OK...so I have a similar but opposite dilemma. I have a Timex Zone Trainer that I got today, so first time using it. I have to admit, that the number of things this thing can do is confusing - I have to sit down and do an in depth read of the manual - BUT on Sunday, I did a 50 minute C210K workout on my treadmill. My Nike+…
  • I don't routinely log things like cooking or cleaning if it is at my "normal" level. I do have my activity level set at sedentary - because I have a desk job and sit a LOT all day. Over Christmas, when I spent an ENTIRE two days baking and on my feet, I did log PART of that time because it interfered with my ability to get…
  • Hmm....for me it's just a cheese addiction: Frigo light string cheese, Laughing Cow Babybels and, while I don't care for the Laughing Cow Wedges in the swiss cheese varieties, I just discovered the Garlic and Herb and Sundried tomato versions. Seriously yummy!
  • That is a very cool site! Thanks
  • @eleanoreb - funny how similar our recipes are!!! :)
  • I'm using a cooking light recipe for Thai Chicken Saute....I don't like onions, so I sub red bell peppers instead. The recipe is here: <http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/thai-chicken-saut-10000001591044/> I can do healthy - but it must have lots of flavor. This fits the bill! Kathy
  • I've tried the beginning workouts and it kicks my butt. I feel like I'm dying - and I know I'm getting one heck of a workout, but I can barely function the next day. I'm not to a point yet where I've been able to be consistent enough for it to become "routine". I have no doubt that it's completely awesome....but I have a…
  • I don't know. I woke up at 3 starving - and had more protein than I needed last night. So a small handful of almonds and a glass of milk with ovaltine (I never outgrew that) and I was good to go!
  • My dental hygienist told me she flosses in the shower while she's waiting for her conditioner to finish "conditioning". :)
  • Hey there! I turned 40 in Oct. and am mom to two boys (12 and 8). This is my second time through. I lost 35 lbs two years ago and it's mostly back - a family illness threw me off my routine - and then new mess for me caused the "munchies". So starting again. Would love to both get/give support and am very open to making…
