  • Uh...I guess it would really depend on your eating habits. Are you already on a low-calorie diet? If not you could go down to 1200-1300 a day for those two weeks. When I am trying hard to be really good, I make myself have a glass of water before I will eat any snack or meal. It helps me not to have such large portions.
  • Have you ever tried any DVDs like P90x? That will tone you up I would think, if you used it along with a high-protein diet and made sure that you ate all your exercise calories. Set your profile to maintain your current weight and then eat some extra for the workouts. :)
  • Add me. I stay home with my three boys. :)
  • I went back and read this thread again. You're a guy, right? And you mentioned that you have seen women with a similar calorie goal to yours? Just to give you some perspective my husband is also on mfp and he started out with about an 1800 calorie goal and did very well. But I will say if you are getting a lot of exercise…
  • Yup, my calorie goal daily is 1440, and that's higher than it was at first. And this lady is also correct about the weight loss rate. It comes off really fast at first and then slows waaaaay down, and there will be weeks where you do everything right and nothing is happening and you want to go and have a whole pizza and an…
  • This guy is right on. Although I have had mine set up to lose 2 pounds a week in the past and it seemed to be ok. Now that I'm close to goal weight I have it set up so that I should lose half a pound a week and my suggested calorie intake is 200 higher than it was before.
  • Make a turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato and red onion and cucumber, and then put a slice of avocado on there. Delish. If you want to make it even better you can buy a can of chipotle peppers in adobo and mix half a teaspoon or so of that stuff with a little mayonnaise and spread it on your sandwich too. Yummy.

  • Kansas has banned them too, and I think Missouri also. There was a college student here in Kansas about two years ago who was on them and he ran out into traffic and a car hit him and he died. So they are here but I don't know how widespread.
  • Sometimes if you hit a wall the only thing you can do is just keep doing what you're doing and a few weeks later the weight loss will start up again. It's not easy but it usually works eventually...

  • But you are right, there are many options! You'll find quite a few good recipes here on the recipe forum. :)
  • I will never stop eating pasta. Pasta is my friend.
  • Ewww, I feel your pain. Although it is entirely possible that she is not eating as well as you are. If the explanation is as simple as that, then she will be well aware of why she isn't losing any weight. There might also be medical stuff that isn't allowing her to lose weight, like thyroid-y type stuff. If she isn't…
  • Argh, same here. I never thought I'd weigh this little and still have a bit of a gut!! Pilates is a good suggestion, maybe I will try it...
  • This! Also, I don't need to know the minute details of everyone's day if they don't feel comfortable sharing it with me. I feel pretty self-conscious about my friends seeing what I eat on days when I tend to carb out or something. It takes a lot for some people to want to open up like that.
  • Yup. Plus having a spike day every now and then for fun.
  • This is pretty much what I figured. Thank you everyone, very helpful. That's why I wasn't bothering to log it and I think I probably still won't! I haven't done the other p90x workouts since last summer, except sometimes we pull out kung pao (what we call it) when we have the time. Vanessa annoys me but that's my favorite…
  • I don't know but hang onto this guy. My husband and I have three little boys and I have had to learn to cut hair and I'm not all that good at it. You will never face this trauma. ;)
  • Oh man, not me. For me it's desserts. Brownies, cake pops, lemon bars, should I go on?
  • Hahahaha that's great. I actually did sort of look like that when I was 12, now that I think of it. :D
  • You are right, that does seem like a lot of extra calories to add. I guess it depends what sort of activity you're doing but it doesn't really seem like something I would add if it were me. You can probably judge for yourself if you're starving for more food on those days, and if so it wouldn't hurt to exceed your calorie…

  • I have done the weekday/weekend thing before too, with success. I am about to hit maintenance myself and I think that's what we're going to try. Friday counts as the weekend too, right? :)
  • Yup, I am fabulous too. :) 5'5" and I think they were about 22. I have never measured them until just now. And I really doubt I ever will again! :D
  • I think having a "spike" day about once a week helps, along with maybe different exercises.

  • But if you are parents, please find a counselor to talk to for the sake of your child. Go even if he won't go with you. Maybe things will improve!
  • This isn't the way a man is supposed to treat his wife. I have a husband who is fabulous, always wants to spend time alone with me and take me on dates, and is always looking for ways to make sure that I am enjoying life. He makes sure to clear his schedule sometimes so that I can go and have an afternoon out or do…
  • I eat more between 7 and 10 pm than any other time of day and I'm almost at goal weight. You're fine eating in the evenings if you are under your calorie goal and you don't get heartburn from it!
  • I can't remember what the settings are. Isn't there a setting in between sedentary and active? I think there is, and if so I would use that. If not I would use whichever one describes more of your days. And if it's about half and half, choose sedentary and then add some walking like you suggested. With walking, your…

  • Sounds like a good reason to visit the doctor just to be sure everything is ok. I personally have noticed that I lost weight everywhere except the stomach and that has been the last to start shrinking. Is it possible that your stomach is simply more noticeable because you've lost in all the other places? Or is it…
  • I think the one we used is called Ease Into 5k. It's pretty good (my husband the gadget guy is the one who brings his phone on our runs so I'm basically clueless) but this one sounds interesting too. Maybe we'll check it out.
  • Oh, my...
