  • I agree with the other poster - if you've already done insanity you don't need the prep schedule. Jump right in and have fun!
  • TF is a great cardio program, but if you want to build a butt you need weights. Weighted squats, lunges (forward, back, side, etc), deadlifts. Do different variations and speeds on the squats and lunges. Do bridges with weights on your hips. Old school mat work with leg lifts help to target different areas (think Buns of…
  • I run in merrell pace gloves - couldn't do vibrams because they just didn't fit my feet (issues with toe length). I've gone totally barefoot on occasion, but not recently due to the cold. Been running this way for about 2 years and I love it! I ran a marathon last September in the minimalist shoes and am training for…
  • "In the UK it's £99 ( £157 USD)!!!! " That's crazy! I wonder why it's so much more?
  • 26 5-7" (or thereabouts) CW - 128-132 (it fluctuates....) GW was 125, but I'm kind of happy with where I am right now. :) Edit: small frame
  • P90 is a decent program. It is a little more difficult than 30DS, but there are options to modify as needed. You need hand weights and a band, but the band comes with the program, and if you need more resistance than the dumbbells you have they show how to use the band for all the exercises as an option.
  • TJ Punch kick and jam is pretty good, so are the other cardio party ones. TF just went down in price - it's $79.95 now, and I think there might be a payment plan option (not positive on this - might only apply to the packs, but might apply to individual programs too). For 12 DVDs it works out to a better deal. There was a…
  • You can request to change your coach - you'd need to find one you liked and get their ID number and contact customer service. I'm a BB coach - but we are not "coaches" in the trained sense, they use that term because we're there to provide support and motivation. We're able to help with information in your nutrition guide…
  • TurboFire only requires resistance bands - and it comes with them. I love that program - lots of fun :) P90 requires resistance bands (also comes with) and for some you can use either bands or dumbbells - your choice. As another poster said though, this one gets monotonous. Combat doesn't require too much equipment. Pump…
  • Try to keep healthy, low calorie options around. I have controlled periods (only 4 a year - yay!) so that time isn't much of an issue for me... but anytime it's cold out I'm STARVING. I live in the Northeast - so I'm ravenous from November - March, moreso on days 20 and below. I eat celery, drink lots and lots of tea, and…
  • Hi, take some time off to let them heal. When you get back into it try to shorten your running stride. A mistake that new runners are notorious for is overstriding and doing too much too soon. Try to land closer to the middle of your foot too instead of striking with your heel - when you heel strike your leg and joints…
  • well, I find it fun, and it is incredibly effective. It gets your arms and legs moving, incorporates a certain amount of core and balance work when you're lifting, twisting, kicking, etc, and effectively seems to work a large number of muscle groups. And it's easy to modify for high or low impact options so it can work for…
  • They're all pretty good - depends on what your goals are. I personally love TurboFire and am enjoying p90x too.
  • Some good ones to check out if you're looking for a 90 day program would be Chalean Extreme and P90X. There is some impact on Plyo in P90x, but there are low impact modifications. Jillian Michaels has some good weight training DVDs, and so does The Firm and Cindy Whitmarsh
  • Hi! When you click on the "exercise" tab there are 4 buttons right below - select "my exercises". Choose "create exercise" and enter your info and click save :)
  • You could also check out The Firm - they have some pretty decent workouts. I never realized how many of my cardio DVDs incorporated kickboxing to some degree until you asked this...
  • I haven't done Slim in 6, but I have done several of Jillian's programs and never had that issue in the long run. Could it be water retention?
  • ^^^ thirding this. Eat enough to fuel your body, and drink plenty of water. Or cut back the exercise. I just scrolled through your diary. Eating as little as you are (unless you're just not logging everything) wouldn't even be enough if you weren't exercising at all. You should be eating MINIMUM 1200 calories a day. More…
  • I agree with another poster that Ripped in 30 isn't much harder than 30 DS. The workouts are a few minutes longer, and it's a little harder, but not by much. P90x is awesome - I'm in week 8 right now. I haven't done Insanity, but have heard good things. It really depends on whether you're looking for more high intensity…
  • Listen to your body. I've always heard if it's above the neck (sniffles, head cold) go ahead but maybe scale back the intensity. If it's below the neck (productive cough signaling stuff in lungs, body aches, etc) take a few days off. A few days off won't destroy what you've gained, but if you push through when your body…
  • I do a big salad with a hardboiled egg and either chicken or tuna. Today's clocked in at 423, but that's because I also had some avocado on it. Without would have been about 100 less and 6 fewer carbs. came to 19g carbs, 9g fiber (so 10 g net carbs) and 43 g protein.
  • Have you checked out Zumba videos? I've used them and, while nothing really replaces the class experience, I did have a lot of fun doing them. Other ideas would be TurboFire or TurboJam, if you like dancy kickboxing :)
  • You really should discuss this with your dr to get their take on it. Any responses you get here will be how individuals who aren't experts have handled their injuries. People do run with additional supports - such as athletic tape, ace bandages, etc. I have definitely done it - like you I have some chronic problems with my…
  • Turbo Fire is a 90 day Beach Body workout program. It's a dance-y kickboxing style program with some resistance training dvds - lots of fun :-) It was created by Chalean Johnson - the same person who created Chalean Extreme, Turbo Jam, PiYo, TurboKick, and Hip Hop Hustle (the last 3 are gym class formats - the others are…
  • I love TF! I lost a couple of lbs (wasn't looking to lose much) and several inches all over. A friend of mine lose over 20lbs doing it! The workouts are great - fun, fast paced, and addictive!
  • You can do this. Keep telling yourself that. With training for distance a lot of it's mental - if you go out knowing you can do it it'll be a lot easier than if you go out with doubts. When's the race? Feel free to add me if you'd like - I can try to motivate you. On February 11 I start training for a full at the end of…
  • I haven't done Insanity, but I'm in week 7 of P90X, have done 30 DS, Ripped in 30 and I own several of Jillian's other DVDs. What would be best for you depends on what you're looking for. Insanity is, from my understanding, lots of high impact cardio with body weight strength training (push-ups, planks, etc). Workouts…
  • I agree with the above poster. If you're looking for a 60 - 90 day program from BeachBody there are several others that could help you build up to insanity - TurboJam, P90, or Slim in 6 might be good. If you're not looking for that sort of thing and were happy with Jillian in 30 DS maybe you could look into her Body…
