Carnitas. It's about 400 calories a cup, 0 carbs, 40 g protein, 24 g fat, and I had a cup. Then I ate a square of chocolate for another 77 calories.

Me too. Walks in nature and dancing are two kinds of exercise that have as much to do with peace and satisfaction as they do with fitness.

I don't know about anyone else, but there is usually something stressful going on when I fail on my diet: not enough sleep, too much work, heartbreak, illness, injury. It happens occasionally, and I go back the same way I got onto a healthy diet in the first place, one step at a time. I'm currently recovering from jet lag,…

Protein powder helps me meet my protein goals without eating way too much fat or carbs. I use unsweetened soy or pea protein, and make it into pancakes, which are delicious, and very filling.

It can't be good for your teeth. Yikes.

I love winter squashes, and I don't need to be so low carb that I can't have squash/pumpkin.
-
Awww. You and your daughters are gorgeous!

Yes, and I'm happy to be smaller. Large breasts are fine on other people, but not my thing.

White flour is super cheap. I reluctantly stopped thinking of things made with white flour as food, and lost weight. If I'm feeling worn out and want something easy, I'd have Greek yogurt with almond butter, or protein powder pancakes, or both. Otherwise, a giant crab cake would be delicious, with a veggie side.

I don't feel compelled to drink alcohol for social reasons. By the time everyone else has been drinking for a few minutes, no one notices or cares if I'm not drinking. If someone puts wine in my glass, I toast, and then let it sit, and no one refills it. Problem solved.

Logging calories from exercise used to throw me off. Logging what I eat has been immensely helpful. I'm just getting back from 3 weeks of not logging, while on a busy trip to Spain, and I feel better already. I log all my exercise as 1 calorie, so that I don't overestimate my burns.

I spent the last three weeks hiking, swimming, climbing, and also walking around beautiful old cities. I forced myself to get back to strength training starting yesterday, and my main goal for the next month is to stick with it consistently. I'll be salsa dancing for the next 8 weeks too.

Yes, or no, depending on your goals. If you want to cut back on carbs, or sugar, specifically, for health reasons then the sugar in fruit counts like any other sugar would count. If you just want to cut calories, you stay within your calories, and you aren't eating extra fruit instead of adequate amounts of protein and…

There is a 30 pound difference between my weight now, and my weight before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Did I lose it just because I got thyroid medication? No. Getting thyroid medication cleared up a lot of my problem with depression, and I gradually started eating better, and being systematic and diligent about…

Totally doable at any age! I'm smaller now than I was in high school.

Ketosis is real. Eating too much protein will keep you out of ketosis, because amino acids can be used in lieu of carbohydrates. For me, eating a high protein/moderate fat/low carb diet works better than a ketogenic diet, and it allows me enough carbs to eat vegetables.

If you can add hills to your walk, it helps a lot.

Maybe your husband just needs to be reassured that you still love him and need him. Losing 80 pounds is a big change, and changes are stressful. If it were me, I wouldn't try to gain, or stop working at maintaining. Gaining happens all too easily without trying. I'm about your height, weigh about what you do, have a bony…

Someone has probably already mentioned that you should see your doctor, and maybe you already have. If not, urgent care places are usually open on Sundays.

I'm 5' 3.5" and 117. The sweet spot for me seems to be averaging about 1400 to 1450 calories a day. I was at 123 for a long time, until I stopped drinking coffee, and all the delicious cream that I put in coffee.

Fitness is more important to me than a relationship with a person who deliberately interferes with my fitness. There are exceptions. Sometimes you have to take care of someone instead of going to the gym, whether it's a kid or a partner. That isn't the same as a person who consistently prefers watching TV over going out…

I take the opposite approach, having exactly what I'm craving, however I delay gratification. If I've craving something like a cinnamon bun or cake, I don't tell myself that I can never have it. I wait. Then I wait some more. If I'm still craving it after a few weeks, I'll work it into my calories, and have it, and not…

I took biology, chemistry, physics, and math.

I was told to cut carbs to lower my cholesterol. Avoiding dairy and fat isn't necessarily helpful for cholesterol either.

Moderately low carb, high protein works well for me. I aim for less than 70 grams of carbs a day, and 90-110 grams of protein. I fill in the calories with fat, because I need energy, and because my doctor suggested cutting back on carbs, for my cholesterol. It worked. The higher fat diet lowered my LDL, and raised my HDL,…

I love soy. I'm hypothyroid, I eat soy, and my thyroid levels have been stable on a dose of medication that hasn't changed in decades.

I always feel fatter when I lose weight, and when I've lost weight and I'm maintaining. That's why I measure.
-
I've never heard that, but YAY!!!! I like it. I certainly have mental discipline that I never had in my twenties, thirties, or forties.
-
What has worked for me is to realize that I probably need to keep eating at close to the deficit that got me the last 5 pounds of my goal. It's not a very large deficit, and it's less than I'd like to eat. I lost at about 1350 - 1450, and that's still what I'm eating, just not losing now.

What is your body fat percentage? If it's 23 or lower, you definitely aren't fat. Depending on your age, up to about 30% could be considered ideal.
