I'm also working through this book and would love some support. Are there any groups available?

Pattypan squash I slice up thinly and cook in a pan with a little olive oil and onions. You don't need much oil to cook because the squash will sweat--just turn the heat down low and cover. I love acorn and butternut squash! My favorite way to eat them is roasted (cut in half, bake in oven at 350 - 400 for about an hour…

Edit: Yes, I took it for other reasons.

Yes, I'm in the normal range for both and test yearly since being diagnosed with PCOS.

Sorry if this is ignorant, but I feel like this is a very helpful discussion. Does being diagnosed with PCOS automatically make me insulin resistant? I know it makes me more likely to be, but I thought that the fasting glucose test would be what tested for that.
-
This is good information to know, thank you. As I'm not diabetic (or prediabetic), and don't currently have high fasting glucose numbers, I'm okay with my current carb consumption, but I will discuss it with my doctor at my next physical. I was not suggesting that everyone should eat as many carbs as I do, only that my…

The ADA recommends 135-180 grams of carbs a day for type 2 diabetes (http://www.diabetes.org/living-with-diabetes/treatment-and-care/ask-the-expert/ask-the-dietitian/archives/how-many-carbs-can-i-eat-per.html). I recognize that many people need to have fewer, but I've done fine eating this much. I haven't checked my…

I have PCOS and have lost about 30 pounds and am now at a healthy weight. Metformin made me sick, too, but it got better with time (and starting off on a low dose). I only stayed on the metformin long enough to get pregnant. To lose weight, I didn't go low carb, but I did try to keep my carbs around 160/day. I also tried…

After looking at your diary, I think my advice is the same. Eat some fruits and vegetables. Real fruits and vegetables. Blueberry bagels do not count. Also, rethink your calorie goals.
-
I can't see your diary, so I can't really help. But my guess is you could do both of these to feel more full: 1. Eat more vegetables. 2. Eat more calories.
-
Instead of dwelling on your morning, think of a plan for next time. Starbucks has their calorie counts online. Pick something out that will help you meet your goals the next time you go. I usually order the veggie breakfast sandwich and a skinny vanilla latte.

I've been doing this workout: http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dumbbell-only-home-or-gym-fullbody-workout.html You might look into getting adjustable dumbbells. For around $40 on amazon you can get a cheap set that should go up to around 25 pounds each.

Greek yogurt, soy milk, whole grains, eggs, beans, seitan (I use the post-punk kitchen recipe to make mine), and tofu are all great sources. I've recently started using a protein shake mixed with almond milk. It's surprisingly tasty and helps me meet my protein goals, which I've recently upped because I enjoy lifting heavy…

I'm 5'4" and about 120 lb and I still don't feel like I'd look great in one. The biggest problem is finding a top that actually covers me up. I might order one this summer to try...

I also have PCOS. I was able to conceive after taking metformin and staying on it for my whole pregnancy. Good luck with losing weight! I feel much better now that I am at a healthier weight. I'm hoping that we have an easier time of getting pregnant in the future. Feel free to add me.

No, but I do plan on measuring out servings for the rest of my life. Seriously, I cannot "eyeball" one tablespoon for the life of me (and an extra teaspoon of peanut butter or salad dressing can add up!). I think that I'll probably stop counting after I've maintained for a few months and have a good sense of what I should…

Drinking it . . . regularly. And measuring and logging it.(And losing weight.) But, seriously, three glasses of wine for 300 calories? Not unless you're drinking out of a kids cup. When I drink wine, I pull out the measuring cup. 6 oz of wine is not a lot.

I'm about your same height and weight and I'm eating about 1500 calories a day during the week and more on weekends. My fitbit says I usually burn about 1850 cals/day (more on weekends) and I try to eat at a 250 cal deficit. I'm losing weight slowly, but that's okay with me because my fat % is going and I'm maintaining my…

Goal Weight: 125 (flexible on this one, I'm pretty happy with my size now, but would like to get stronger and just a bit leaner) Calories: 1400 a day Age: 27 My lowest weight ever (as an adult) was 117 and I looked awful. I am very curvy, and at…

I started walking pretty quickly, maybe a week or two. And then I started the 30 Day Shred at 6 weeks. I was still pretty sore though, so I didn't push myself too much.

Feel free to add me. I have a 10 month old, and I work full time.

Look into High Intensity Interval Training workout videos on Youtube, You can get a great workout in 20-30 minutes. I also do a dumbbell strength workout three days a week. It takes about 30 minute0, and I do it while watching TV with my husband after the baby is in bed.

I like it! I haven't eaten meat in a long time though, so I don't think of it as fake turkey... it's just tofurkey. Also, I double the basting liquid, otherwise it gets dried out.

How did you calculate your LBM loss? Just fat %? You probably loss some water weight too.
