  • Can you do push ups? Pull ups? Have a few bucks for some free weights? Have a few extra milk jugs around that? How about a five gallon bucket and some rocks? You don't need a good gym to develop a weight program. You need something heavy, proper form, and a little creativity.
  • I should also mention that this has worked for a under shirt that I wore when I was playing football in highschool. How bad was that shirt? It didn't dry out for the entire season. Literally. Put it away wet, put it on wet. The sun cleared the smell and dried it out. Sun is a powerful tool. Unfortunately, my mom washed the…
  • Goal 1200 Food - Exercise = Total Daily Net So if you eat 1200 for food and exercise 600 calories off in one day, your net is 600 for that day. In other words, your body only has 600 calories to fuel itself for other daily activities (walking, breathing, etc). Your trainer is right in his line of thinking, eat up to 1200…
  • I had the same thing... stress fracture was my diagnosis. However, I recommend getting a physician's diagnosis. As for right now, I'd treat it as a stress fracture - Rest Ice Compress Elevate. Also, stop running for a little while and switch to low impact exercise if you can't not work out. Swimming is a great way to keep…
  • But it works so well.... In all seriousness, smell is from bacteria. Set them out in the sun for an afternoon. That should kill the bacteria off. If it works for my hockey gear it'll work for a t-shirt.
  • C25k. Get fitted for proper shoes from an actual running store.

  • Don't disagree... but I will say honestly I felt much better after I did it. I was serious. I felt bloated and backed up due to having some poor food choices and this made me feel great for whatever reason. I felt like I was floating on air. If she's feeling the same, I suggest at least giving it a shot.
  • I use to have the same fear about going to a gym. Then I realized 99% of the people there don't pay any attention to me or what I'm doing. It's like a switch flipped and I just didn't care... By the way, I did a similar diet. msg me and I can fill you in on the experience, the before, during, and after....
  • If you're feeling like you need a good detox because you've been eating crap... then I've got the perfect solution. First of all, get your diet back to good and eat better. Drink a lot of water. Second, (i used this the other day because I've had a particularly bad week of eating food wise, though still under my calorie…
  • Not to hi-jack the thread, but I can relate as I just dropped out of the 2x shirts and into the xl. It's a great feeling.

  • So here's a really easy breakfast option that you can cook on the weekend. It takes one minute to heat up and eat. Literally. Get some sillicone muffin pans and spray with pam. Mix up eggs like you're going to scramble them. Add in meat (bacon, ham, etc). Top with cheese. Bake at 350. I can't remember the time. Then store…
  • Running is high impact and the odds for injury increase with the frequency of running.
  • What do you want to accomplish? Both are intense but good.
  • It's a good workout for sure. But I wouldn't count it in my calorie burn. I'd just treat it as a bonus. But that's just me.
  • No you won't. You'll soon be able to run 10k and 5k will look like nothing! Fair warning... you'll get addicted and then it's on like donkey kong. Keep up the great work.
  • As you get older things change... now if I want to or not I'm up by 8:00 a.m. I just can't sleep like I did. In college I could party all night, sleep until 2:00 pm (or whenever the husker game was on) roll out of bed and hit it again like it was nothing. I miss that... Anyway, with life (kid, work, grad school) if I want…
  • Do what's going to help you stay committed to the journey. We all have days where we need a break from whatever we're doing - school, work, etc. So if you're drained and need to recharge the batteries take a day off. It's one day in your life. That said, just don't start making excuses and stop the fitness journey all…
  • Shoes are critical. They provide stability, cusion, support, and protection. Go get fitted. As for the cost well... they don't have to be THAT expensive. Also, a lot of stores offer discounts if you are a member of your local running club. They may have year end models that they're trying to get rid of, etc. If cash is…
  • Chilli.. a whole lot of Chilli. I'd recommend something easy on the stomach - cheese, peanut butter / toast, etc. Just don't eat a lot. You don't want to feel sick.
  • Horrible. I did what you shouldn't do and didn't listen to my body. Now I've got a stress fracture in my leg and can't run, so I've substituted swimming as a low impact alternative. The only good news is I have until September to train... so hopfully after 4-6 weeks I'll be good to go and can resume training. I miss…
  • I'm sorry for your struggles. Please, please, please seek counciling NOW. With your husband as well. We all need help every once in a while and what you're family is going through is more than tramatic. Get to therapy. There is NO SHAME in askng for help. God bless and good luck.
  • Heart... I love me some Heart. Seriously, don't know why either.
  • You look great and probably feel exceptional. But nothing feels better than new underware! That's the victory right there.
  • I say focus on finishing the thing and don't worry about time. I'm training for mine in September and am super pumped. Let us know how you did!
  • When you exercise the body retains water. Also, depending on what you ate the night before can impact it. For instance, the other night I had ribs and steamed veggies. But the ribs were VERY salty because we ate them at a restraunt. So despite a 500 calorie deficit for the day I retained a ton of water and weighed 2lbs…
  • Well, I was training for a half marathon and developed a stress fracture. I'm so fixated on the goal of the half marathon (non-negotiable) that I'm borderline depressed. So the only way to fight it is to keep in mind that it's a short term set back. As for your knee... swimming. Great work out and a ton of cardio.
  • Absolutely. Once you hit the 5k mark, you'll be amazaed at how easy it is to tack on miles. You have plenty of time to train. Msg me and I'll send you a good program to train.
  • As soon as my stress fracture heals I intend to integrate that into my training for a half marathon. If you have any routines or suggestions I'd love to hear them.
  • Vitamin B. It's a natural diuretic. Also, drink a lot more water. Piss a lot. On the hour, every hour and you'll flush it out.
