  • I have two tattoos - one on my back so not visible unless in a swimsuit or naked; and one on my wrist. So clearly visible if I am wearing short sleeves. I met my boyfriend at work and despite his deep hatred for tattoos, he 1) never even noticed my wrist tattoo until I physically pointed it out to him; and 2) started…
  • I like MFP for the food tracker. There's just more food readily available, and it seems easy (and the app is easier both on my phone and ipad). As far as support system though, I stick with SP for that. It takes a while to build a support system there, but I've met many of my support system there in person, and they are…
  • I'm currently training for a full marathon that will take place in October. Once that marathon is over (assuming I can still walk!), I just plan to keep a base mileage of between 8-12 miles. I dont plan to re-start a training plan. I like the Jeff Galloway training plans (even though I dont use his method). Hal Higdon has…
  • I like going to Road Runner Sports. They do the gait analysis and they also make custom inserts for your shoes. I have really high arches (like literally, the middle of my foot is missing from the paper when you do the wet foot test! And the custom inserts seriously help me a lot. I was originally fitted back in 2010 for a…
  • I definitely brought flashcards to the gym while I was studying for the bar exam. I could easily flip through them while on the stationery bike, and in between sets on the weight lifting machines. Granted, I wasnt making any sort of progress at all at that time, but it did provide some much-needed stress relief, and hey, I…
  • I was so sore after doing Week 1 on Monday of this week, that I decided to hold off and start the 4 week program next week. I am running a half marathon this Saturday, and dont know how I would be able to do that if I kept doing this dvd the week leading up to it! Yikes! So I am going to restart on Monday and then do it…
  • It could be your IT Band. Whenever my IT Band is tight, I feel it on the side of my thigh closer to my hip - rarely do I ever have IT Band pain near my knee. I use a foam roller - that think is super annoying, but it helps. I also sometimes get tight quad muscles up in my thigh, and the foam roller helps with that too.…
  • I did the first day of Week 1 yesterday - planning to only do it 4 days per week. I was pretty surprised by how much I was sweating during the workout - and I was pretty tired later that night! I definitely slept well!
  • I dont work a night shift, but I am a habitual snacker. Especially after lunch - the afternoons are the worst for me. I started making fruit smoothies and that has really helped with the snacking. I plan it in to my calories for the day - a glass of water blended with vanilla protein powder, and then I add fruit - lately a…

  • I have compression socks that I really like. I only real wear them if my calves are feeling particularly tight, but I think they help. I know a lot of people will wear them AFTER running a half marathon or marathon to aid in recovery.
  • I have chronic patella femoral syndrome, which is often referred to as runner's knee. Granted, I was born with my knee caps slightly tilted laterally, which doesnt help, and according to multiple orthopedic doctors and physical therapists I've been to, I have extremely weak quad muscles. My most recent battle with it (in…
  • My boyfriend and I gained about 15lbs during our first year together. We went out to eat A LOT and just didnt watch ourselves. We both workout pretty regularly, but if you arent watching what you eat, it can creep up no matter what type of exercise you are doing.
  • I used to eat them as an after meal snack because I love chocolate. Unfortuantely, there is something in them that gives me serious stomach problems. Same thing with regular Fiber One Bars, Vita Tops, etc. It seems like anything that has some "added fiber" makes me feel like my stomach is in knots, and it is just not good.…
  • I had the original Nook Color when it first came out. It worked fine but then I got an iPad and started using that instead. I DLed both the Nook and Kindle apps, but found there were more free/cheap books for the Kindle so started using that exclusively. Eventually reading in bed with the iPad became a pain bc its larger…
  • I cant stand when I see dogs off leash. I havent had this issue while running, but I also go hiking a lot, and recently brought my 7.5lb dog on a hike with me. I had her on a 6ft leash, with at least a third of it wrapped around my hand so she wouldnt get too far away from me, but it felt like every quarter mile, we would…
  • I always think that if I am paying for a gym membership, then I will use it. But the reality is, I dont. And my boyfriend gets so annoyed with me when I join a gym and pay for it and then never use it - I really am just throwing money away. That being said, I also have access to a free gym on the military base I am…
  • During the day it is set to 76 degrees. Around the time I get home from work it will reset itself to 74 degrees. And at bed time it resets again to 72. I like being colder when I sleep. If it wasnt so expensive, ideally I would keep it in the high 60s!
  • I like having an after-dinner snack, so I plan for it. But other than that, I just keep myself busy until I fall asleep. In the evenings I will read a book or work on a craft project - keeps my hands and my brain busy. And has the bonus of relaxing me before bed, too, so that I fall asleep easier. :)
  • I'm training for a marathon and I only run 4 days per week. I cross-train and strength train on two of the other days (usually biking) and ALWAYS take one rest day.
  • I ran it in 2011 and I am running it again in 2014. It was my second half marathon, and my mom came to Disney with me gor a girls' weekend - we live on opposite sides of the country, so that was something special for us to do. You can get discounted hotel rooms for the race weekend. We stayed at the All Star Movies resort…
  • I have the water bottle belt that holds four 8oz bottles My boyfriend laughs at me and tells me I look ridiculous, but I find it the easiest for me. Boyfriend likes the wear a camelbak, but honestly the last thing I want is something strapped on my shoulders to my back.
  • If you have a 4-year degree, you should definitely consider going to OTS and becoming an officer. I commissioned out of law school, and I went through OTS. I dont know what enlisted basic is like, but my OTS didnt really require much of anything other than being able to run for a half hour, do pushups, and do situps. I…
  • I generally prefer working out in compression capris. Though its been really hot lately, so when I go on long runs outside, I've been wearing compression shorts. I only have two pairs that I like and they were kind of expensive, but they dont ride up as much. I prefer the capris though because they definitely dont ride up,…
  • I'm registered to run the Princess Half! I ran it in 2011, and injured my knee pretty badly as a result of bad training - wont make that mistake. But its a great race, and I cannot tell you how excited I was when I ran through Cinderella's castle. I actually have a great picture of running out of the castle with this huge…
  • I did the online dating for a while - initially during law school one summer as boredom relief - my friends and I had a bet going to see who could go on enough dates to earn back the registration fee (i.e. however much money was spent on the date). Then after I had a really bad breakup (not with someone I met online), when…
  • I sign up for races. I was struggling earlier in the year, and signed up to run a race every weekend in April. I've been motivated ever since! Also, I have a really stressful job (I represent crime victims) and sometimes the only time I can zone out and not think about the horrific stories I here is when I am running. In…
  • I went to college knowing I wanted to be an English major, because I love reading and writing papers, and thats all I really wanted to do. Unfortunately, I didnt know what I would do with such a degree, so I started out taking education classes also. Decided I wanted nothing to do with teaching and decided to go to law…
