  • There's actually a "Bipolar for Dummies" book out there. A good friend of mine who's been living with her diagnosis for years said it was helpful. It might be a good place to start.
  • I go to the local YMCA. And I work with a personal trainer who's fantastic. She's supportive and pushes me out of my comfort zone, but not to the point where I'm a crying bloody mess. We're not Facebook friends, but she does check in on me sometimes after a particularly rough session. She's caring and knowledgeable and I'm…
  • Do you measure your food? Do you wear a heart-rate monitor? That's a pretty serious workout burn you're projecting. If you've changed what you're eating and how you're working out for a significant amount of time and not seeing a difference, I'd get factual with your calories and your burn to make sure they're being…
  • I was wearing heels daily (and loving it) when I was 60lbs heavier. I think some women just have a harder time in heels than others regardless of weight; I've never had an issue but have skinnier friends who do.
  • These stories all make me sad. I have some of my own, and the internal scars that come with, but I don't want to share them and relive them. I'm just going to work my butt off at my training session tonight and hopefully never have another such story happen to me again!
  • Yes, it counts.

  • Happy wedding day tomorrow! You're going to feel and look fantastic. Enjoy your day!
  • The right sorority will understand and be cool with it. Good luck with rush!
  • I feel you, Spullano! I have one month from today. I'm realizing I'm not going to lose or tone much in that time but am trying to stay healthy and on track - and work through the stress!
  • Right there with you. I have 40ish days until my wedding, the first fitting was Monday, and I have been stuffing my face every day. I'm still working out, and hard, but my body is not ideal and I still have work to do...yet I can't seem to stay away from food in high quantities. Feel free to friend me if you want, I don't…
  • Totally. My mind often transposes the numbers - so say if I now weigh 225 but I used to weigh 252, I have to stop and check and force myself to remember that I'm not at the higher weight anymore.
  • I don't eat it as a cereal, I eat it as a rice substitute. I've only made about three different recipes with it but they've all been fab.
  • I am not doing either. I feel the same way as you with the garter toss and am not even planning on wearing one. I always hated the bouquet toss when I was single and do not want to push my single friends (which is a small number to start with!) into something they'll be uncomfortable with.
  • The store I bought my dress from recommended buying 9 months out. This was written on the paperwork I had to sign which made me nervous because I didn't have 9 months, I had maybe 7. My dress only took 5 months but I was still nervous. My alterations place told me they recommend starting that process no less than 6 weeks…
  • I think price varies a lot by region and offerings. Mine is cheaper than that, but we have more time with them and no books. It's hard to quantify when you're comparing apples to oranges, but I agree that this is one place to splurge! Hope you gel with them and have a great meeting!
  • With just over 4 months to go I know exactly how you feel. I'm trying to balance a desire to "be healthier" with "look good for wedding photos!" I know I've made progess, though not much on the scale, but I've had a few great non-scale victories lately that I need to keep in mind and use as motivation. Have you had…
  • Everything I've read (and seen on here) indicates that running less and weight lifting more is the way to go. I've also read that getting in shape is 70% diet and 30% exercise, which sucks for me since I'm better at exercising than I am at eating healthy lately!
  • Hi all! I'm definitely sending some friend requests out! My wedding is October 5th of this year and my dress is on order. I've lost about 20lbs and almost 10" since ordering it earlier this year and am planning to keep that trend going. I'm doing strength training 2-3x a week and my personal trainer knows "bride arms" are…
  • It might sound like a lot, but I only spend about an hour a day, plus travel time, so add 20minutes, give or take. And I feel SO much better about myself when I work out.
  • I do cardio about 5-6 times a week. I mix it up - elliptical, running/walking intervals on the treadmill, a spin class once a week, another self biking session during the week. I do a minimum 30minutes a time, no more than 60 (except for last Tuesday when I did 95 minutes and was dead for the rest of the week!). I usually…
  • I've pinned a recipe for chickpeas that is similar, and they turn out great. My problem is portion control. You can use all sorts of different seasonings. I haven't needed to season them before I cook them, either. I will say to be careful about storing them - I put them in an air-tight container and they got soggy.
  • My trainer sometimes uses are whole 30min session for tabata. She has me throw punches, do pushups (varying hand positions), mountain climbers, squats (with weight), sprints, situps (varying leg positions), heavy lifting.
  • Aurora, glad you guys worked it out! Sounds like a nice compromise. Bbtano, hope you guys are able to find a workable solution! I'm just having one attendant and she was great with agreeing to wear whatever I wanted her to. It probably helped that I want her to feel good and comfortable! We found a floor-length black dress…
  • I my FitBit, though I really only use it as a pedometer. I've read from other people that they have issues with theirs tracking steps while driving, etc but I've never had that happen.
  • It looks like it's in great shape! And I'll tell you, mine cost a smidge over that price (ahem cough) so way to go!!!! Does yours have the bra-band type hooks in the back? The sample I tried on didn't zip either but those hooks made me feel so damn secure I kept forgetting I wasn't zipped in! I need to lose some belly,…
  • Shut up...THAT'S MY DRESS!!!!!!! I think I was told I couldn't do a corset with it but I don't remember exactly. I was also told I could have some beading under the arms removed so they don't rub, which I think I'll do. Are you not ordering your dress in a different size?
  • Yay Bunniculette! Definitely getting someone else's perspective helps. My matron of honor, who did a lot of dress shopping with me, loved one dress on me that I hated...but she definitely agreed with me on the one I chose!
  • What's your plan, Stina? I have a lot longer than you but completely understand your pain, I am already feeling that way. You can totally make a difference in a month, though!
  • I work from home permanently. Key for me is what another poster said: keep the junk out of the house! It's hard when you live with others but I try to avoid bringing my triggers home. What do you do with the rubber band??
  • I usually alternate a teaspoon of honey (per 5 or 6 oz yogurt) with blueberries. Sometimes I take whole strawberries and dip into the yogurt and eat that way.
