  • It sounds like you're working steadily at making good changes. Yes, one day at a time is the best we can do. Good luck and be proud of how you're doing!
  • This site has some great features and if you track your meals and exercise, you should find success! Good luck. My doctor was even impressed with how the site worked.
  • Doubly impressive that you held to the same weight over the holidays. Now to tackle that last 17 lbs. which I have a feeling you'll do as you step up your efforts.
  • This is the way it goes for most of us. It could be as simple as heavier sodium one day resulting in water retention. I always do the same, up, down, up, down, settle in at the lower weight. Then it starts again. Once I realized that's how it went, it didn't bother me!
  • I recall I got some new items (actually I went to some resale shops) after I lost about 20 pounds. Some friends nicely commented that it looked like things were about to fall off me! I found some fabulous clothes, some that still had tags on them. I didn't want to spend too much when I was still losing but did buy some…
  • First of all, so glad you're getting therapy to deal with your issues. That support can be invaluable. One thing that helped me was to create a few planned days of balanced meals that allowed me to take some days off from thinking about "what can I have"? Otherwise, I found that I became weary of planning daily. Or create…
  • As others have stated, put that 5 lb. a week out of your mind as that is not a healthy way to go. Your body is probably adjusting so you will begin to lose if you just stay the course. There will be good weeks and sometimes a bit of bouncing around in your numbers, but that's part of the process and to be expected. Just…
  • I notice my eyesight seems to change a bit with my sugar level, but your problem sounds like a different situation. I agree...call the doctor and tell them about the double vision, etc. They can determine if they need to get you in quicker. Good luck.
  • Maybe do a backwards countdown...365...364...etc. As others have said, you'll be amazed at where you are in year but you have to start to get there! Good luck.
  • Hi Robin...I just caught your post! It sounds like you've got a plan and determination and both of those are valuable. I've been type 2 for several years and finally decided to get the excess weight off. It has improved my numbers yet they still aren't quite where I'd like them, so I'm a work in progress. You mentioned…
  • What great improvement in all areas! That's bound to keep you on track, very encouraging! Congratulations and keep doing what's working for you.
  • What an impressive improvement! You don't always think of those kind of benefits when you lose the pounds. Well done!
  • I did the same, beginning to snack more and overdoing...thus a 10 lb. gain here, too. The hardest part was to stop eating without thinking after dinner so I'm concentrating on eating dinner and maybe have some fruit later, and that's it! Dropped 3 of the 10 in about 1 week and the evenings are getting easier. The main…
  • That's a wonderful success and I'm sure you'll have many more coming your way!
  • Believe me, we've all been there, but the important thing is how you use your "pissedness". Use it to fire you up to stick to what you know works as your 30 lb. loss shows. You'll have more times that your weight will fluctuate but you can be more stubborn than the pounds!
  • As others have said, it takes time to go from a size 20 to your goal 12...but it is worth the time and effort involved. If you keep working at it, no matter where you are in a few months, you will see such an improvement in how you feel and look it will encourage you to keep going. I went from 22 to 10/12 in about 15…
  • It sounds like you've got the mindset needed to stick with this. And it might be handy to post a picture of something regarding your cruise on the fridge to remind yourself of how you want to feel and look by November. Kind of sets that goal right in front of you and remind you each time you go to open the fridge!
  • It's normal for many of us to bounce around on the pounds but just keep working steadily and they will drop off. I found, when I began, that walking was a great exercise if you can't do anything too strenuous. Also, if you have a place available where you can swim or work out in the water, it's great and low impact on the…
  • Congratulations and you should be very proud! Keep on doing what's working for you and let us know when the next magic number is reached!
  • Unfortunately mine comes every evening, a bit after dinner. I plan on a snack but many times I end up just grazing and find it hard to stop. I have to be very mindful or before I know it, I'm way over! I do ok for a couple days then it rears it's ugly head again! I know it's just habit because I'm not truly hungry.
  • I may not actually count calories every day but I will be a lot more aware of what I eat. To make things easier, I have some "set menus" where I know the calorie count and can just use those so I don't have to reinvent my day. Or you can do multiple meals with a calorie count and just pick and choose to stay within your…
  • Marie, you seem to be on to something! I agree that downsizing the dinnerware really helps. I use an appetizer plate for most of my meal and then usually add a larger bowl for my salad. It's showing in your "numbers". By the way, your spinach cornbread muffins look divine! Looking forward to your next "report"!
  • It's a great feeling when others notice and comment...helps us to keep moving forward! Nice loss and it sounds like you're on the right path to making the improvements you want for yourself.

  • I'm sorry you're being treated in this way and no one deserves this "demand". Once you reach the magic number, I have a feeling there will be some other new demand. Start your weight loss by returning the ring (if there is one) and move on. Not easy, I know, but the added stress to lose like this can hold you back and this…
  • Rather than concentrating on a particular number (size and weight), concentrate on being in the best shape possible. Insanity should help with that but maybe switch to eating well, too. Not sure your present eating plan will get you there. Concentrate on eating some lean protein, vegetables and a bit of fruit each day.…
  • Congratulations on your loss and even more on your attitude! People start all "gung ho" and when they hit a rough spot, totally cave in. Your comments put things in perspective and will help many. Relax, stay with the program, and keep concentrating on staying within the "lines" most of the time (there will be less…
  • That's great and it will give you that extra boost to help you continue on! A nice comment "out of the blue" is truly a gift.
  • Marie, Once cereal that comes to mind that has no sugar is Shredded Wheat...the plain ones. And things like Cheerios have 1 gram, Kix have only 3 grams...Grape Nuts, 4. With lentils you usually have a 1:2 proportion...1 c. lentils to 2 cups liquid. Rinse lentils first then put in pot with liquid, bring to a boil then just…
