  • Okay, this may not seem an improvement over last month (and it technically isn't, because it's a photo I took last month). But this is actually a huge mental improvement, because I didn't post this photo last month as I was too embarrassed by it. But for Berry this month, here's the belly showing off my "lady apron."
  • Bumping, because I would love to see more honest MFP pics!
  • Louise, this is a brilliant thread! I've posted some after photos elsewhere on MFP, but none of them showing the bits I'm still a bit embarrassed about. But I have become firmly convinced through my time on MFP that we have to learn to love our bodies with all their "imperfections." This pic shows the lovely overhang I…
  • What a fabulous challenge to yourself! Run one for me please!!!
  • For myself, my hubby, our 6-year-old boy, and our 3-year old daughter I'm at the shops at least 3 times a week to restock our fresh fruit and veg. We usually get through 2 bags of apples, 3 large bunches of bananas, a pineapple, a coconut, a pack of pears/plums/peaches/kiwi (whichever is in season), a bag of grapes, 2…
  • Holy crappola! You and your wife are soooo full of awesome!
  • If you aren't really wanting to lose any more weight then maybe now is the time to work on re-learning to listen to and respond to your body's signals. If you keep to appropriate portion sizes, eat when hungry, keep hydrated, and don't overexercise then you should be able to now maintain your weight without having to log…
  • Work hard! Play hard!
  • It does come down to body fat %. You have to be quite lean to see good definition and look "toned." Where you carry the bulk of your body fat will also influence where you see definition. My arms and legs are quite lean so you can see the definition in them, but I am a banana shape (fairly straight up and down), so the…

  • On January 27, 2011, I started on MFP. I have learned sooooo much about myself, about fitness, and about nutrition. I have gone from couch potato to supermom (or at least I feel like it some days). I found out that I love to run (I also love to power walk, and I can walk 4.5-5mph which is some folks jogging speed). I love…
  • I'm not 40 yet, but I'm getting there. I'm also getting there with my abs! The horribly honest truth about abs is that in order to see the definition, you need to get your body fat down in order to reveal what's underneath. I'm at about 22% body fat, and there is hope. I've also have two children by c-section.
  • Well, I started my weight loss journey last January at 15 1/2 stone (217 lbs). I'd like to blame the weight on my two lovely children, but I can't, because I've been overweight and obese my entire adult life. In fact, I was at my previous lowest adult weight post-pregnancy with both kids. So, here's what is possible for…
  • Oi! You're not moving on without me! Okay, so I'm a day late, and my morning routine is out of whack, so these were not taken at the gym, but Berry, I have bared my belly for you! Just for comparison - this first pic is where I was when I started (no belly baring) at 15 1/2 stone (217 lbs) And here I am this morning at 8…
  • One of the trainers at the gym explained to me that heavy lifting with light reps is better if your emphasis is on building strength and power. So, if your running is sprinting, then heavy lifting is the way to go. However, for endurance, the higher reps and medium weights are the way to go. No one seems to recommend…
  • Oh, and job well done to everyone so far. Kyle, you know I just think you are sooo full of awesome, and think you should be really proud of what you have accomplished!
  • D'oh! I keep thinking May 1st is tomorrow. I'm already out of my gym kit and showered today, so I'll have to do piccies tomorrow (because I'm not getting changed again today (unless it's into my pjs tonight). Besides, I promised hubby that he could take shots of me in strange and unusual yoga poses until I get the pic I…
  • We're almost there! Sadly my belly still isn't where I'd like it to be, but it is acres better than it was at the beginning of April! I am still trying to figure out what my workout picture will be. I'd love to be doing a plank, but I've got a lot of lose skin around my middle, and it's really disturbing to see in that…
  • This is exactly how I feel. I know I'm never going to be an elite, competitive athlete, and I'm sorry, but in my mind you're either one of them or the rest of us (whether or not you run marathons). Stupid, arrogant people will always try to belittle you, but you know that you are way more awesome than that. Go walk, run,…
  • Not eating super low calories. I'm currently eating close to what MFP would consider my maintenance levels (1800 on non-workout days, 2100 on workout days). I power walk 2x's per week and weightlift 2 x's per week. On non workout days, I try to find ways to keep myself from sitting down for too long, as I think Non…
  • 100g prawns = 14g protein (and only 60 calories)
  • I have to say I'm not entirely sure. I started at 217 last January and originally aimed for 145. I've passed that and am at 125. I still feel like I have a bit more body fat to lose (the actual scale number isn't as important), so I'm not sure if I'll be looking at 120 or less than that to look and feel the way I want to!
  • Hmmm ... wonder if my buffalo chicken wings and chips tonight will help me toward my goal.
  • Grrrrr ... hate that I can't readily get pumpkin here, because that looks a fabulous treat!
  • Well, I've been hoping another month would make the difference I want to see. And I do need something to help me keep on track. So with some fear and trepidation, I'm in.
  • Started working on negatives a month ago and then just totally went for the real thing, so am dead chuffed that as of this morning the following are my stats: F/37/126/4/1
  • Stole the words right off my keyboard!
  • You are doing so well, and I'm glad you posted pics! I can definitely see how your efforts are paying off. Hope I can be a support to you on your continuing journey!
  • I've been on MFP since January 27, 2011. When I was in weight loss mode (and I've lost 91 lbs), I was eating 1400-1600 calories a day plus half my exercise calories (more when I was training for my half marathon). I'm currently in maintenance and eat between 1900-2300 calories, depending on exercise.
  • You are so freaking full of awesome and inspiration to keep working on my mummy tummy!
  • I get treadmill and proper outdoor running time when the hubby is around. When it's TheBoy and I (who's going to be 6 soon), we do (and have done for a couple of years now) what I call wacky races around the neighbourhood. We jog, walk, hop, skip, jump, and run at full tilt (something kids seem to take real pleasure in)…
