  • Thank you, this is very kind hearted and helpful.
  • Thank you all so much for your insight. I appreciate it! I’ve begun eating more cleanly and with less sugar wheat and dairy, so I will see how that goes. Thanks again!
  • I think there has to be responsibility around it. You can be a work in progress, happy with yourself and your efforts, knowing that you are making personal strides to better yourself. But, I find it offensive (and damaging) to suggest that people who are fat are (or should be) happy with their bodies. "I'm fat and I'm…
  • This was always floated as an option to me, but I never took the bait. The reason? For me, personally, 99% of my issues are mental. Stress, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, depression, anxiety and self-hatred will not be cured by gastric bypass. It would likely exacerbate my issue. I think if you have a sound…
  • I buy two seats whenever I fly. It only took one comment of "I have to sit next to THAT?" for me to know I never want to experience that again. I'm fat. It's my fault. I pay the penalty with an extra seat at my own cost.
  • I'm a huge admirer of Dr. Peterson, and knew of his daughter's experience with carnivore before I saw him on Rogan (of whom I am also a fan). Throughout the interview he states that he's not an expert in nutrition and also that the only reason he tried it in the first place was because of the incredible results experienced…

  • Great job on all of your hard work!! One thing my husband and I do is keep a running ziplock in the freezer for veggie scraps to make stock out of. Trimming the tops of celery? Throw it in the bag. Have some husks from onion peels? In the bag it goes, carrot peels (washed) into the bag! You'd be amazed at how quickly the…
  • For anyone that is interested, I have created a private group called "Rainbows, Kittens and Glitter Farts" - for those of us that want a softer approach to support. Judging by the 43 friend requests and 16 emails from like minded people I had this morning, I'm not the only one who feels this way. Thanks everyone for the,…
  • Just because I don't post much doesn't mean I'm not an active member - I have numerous friends and such that I support through MFP and they support me in return through private messaging. And really look at my original posting. All I was saying was that there is a ton of negativity on the boards and this thread proved that…
  • I was referring more to negative attitudes and snappy responses people have to what I would take as someone genuinely wanting to know about a subject (say low carb diets). I'm not going to go looking for specific examples, but having been back for 6 days after a six month lapse in tracking it just seems like the forum is…
  • I find it interesting that some of the commenters suggest that sugar addiction isn't a real thing. I'm sorry - but it absolutely is. If you get sugar "highs" and sugar "lows", get massive headaches if you don't eat it and instant relief if you do, if you crave it and get miserable and grumpy if you don't have it - it's an…
  • I'm an Edmonton cat lady myself - about 125 lbs to lose.
  • This is my approach this year. Calories in/ calories out - not eliminating food groups or anything like that which I've done in the past. My goal is around 155... 5'6 and currently 281 pounds. It seems so far off, but I started at 350, so it's progressive. I would aim for chunks of weightloss until your body decides it's…
  • I'm here too, for good this time. Been up and down a bit in the last four years but still down 57 pounds. Time to get focused and serious. I went for a walk around the mall yesterday and was in serious pain. I'm 284 pounds and ready for a change. We are all in this together.
  • Hello! I've just turned to veganism for health reasons and am loving the results so far! I love tto come up with some creative recipes :)
  • Thank you everyone for your replies! It's wonderful to have such a great community. I had a talk with my husband last night who suffers from alot of the same eating issues but none of the health issues. We recommitted to giving it another try, supporting each other and taking it day by day. I did some research last night…
  • This. Just last night my husband broke his toe and we had to eat out. We stopped for italian and I got the chicken parm. As soon as it came I split the whole meal in half and only ate one portion. my husband ate all of his and at the end of the meal he was stuffed, while I was happily satisfied.
  • I'm looking to eat healthfully each day and not buy and food that I have not prepared myself. No on-the-go smoothies, no after-work cheeseburger "snacks", none of that. I am also going to log my meals each day and aim for at least a 20 minute walk in the evenings and at least 10 minutes of stretching.
  • I have HS as well. For me, no dietary changes I've made in the past have done anything. Nothing at all. I've had them since I was 10 and 25 years later I've realized they are on their own sort of cycle, and nothing I eat makes any sort of difference at all. It sucks.
  • I have never understood the eating back of calories that you burn. Yes, I've read all the posts touting it, and the explanations of MFP already creating a deficit. But, in my opinion, if you eat a decent amount of calories (for me it's about 1800) and you exercise and burn say 200 calories, its counterproductive to eat…
  • I went wheat free for health reasons. I have colitis, and read that wheat is very inflammatory, which also helps for my osteoarthritis. I read Wheat Belly, and while alot of what he touts makes sense, I think the best advice he has it not to replace your old favourites with gluten free replacements. It just leads to…
  • I told my husband that I didn't like his dinner (that he spent an hour making) because it was full of sugar and grease. It was pork riblet stew roasted in diane's barbeque sauce with potatoes, carrots, onions, celery and mushrooms. It was literally swimming in grease. I had to break it to hubby, that even though it's his…
  • Pretty much all you can eat is lean meat, veggies and fruit. It's incredibly hard to stick to...
  • I weight every morning. For me it is motivating and is a great way to stay accountable and not fly off the wagon. This morning, for instance, I weighed myself and noticed that I'm gaining again, not surprising considering my new job, hubby's new job, a terrorizing new kitten and other life stresses as of late. First thing…
  • Thank you so much, everyone! Today is my first day back eating regular food after the rip-my-colon-out-cleanse I had to suffer through. I found it tough to even WANT to eat this morning, but so far, here's how my day has gone: 1 cup skim milk with 1 cup honey nut cheerios. So far so good. 3 scrambled eggs. Only made it 2/3…
