Unfortunately, the hour I have is a stretch already. I have 3 kids, 2 jobs and a partially disabled wife. Adding 30 more minutes of cardio, and its really not 30 minutes with warm up, cool down and shower/etc - closer to an hour, just isn't something that I can do. I appreciate the thought though.

I have 1 hour a day, M-F. Jack, do you mean do A twice a week, B twice a week? Cherimoose, I do cardio outside on days I dont lift (running). At least until the weather here in Florida turns unbearable again.

Speak with another doctor to see if he agrees. Part of the problem is what you eat. 4 ounce piece of steak isnt going to fill anyone. But 10 ounces of chicken breast has roughly the same calories. Add to that 2 or 3 cups of broccoli and all of a sudden you have a fairly substantial meal. Yes, the first few weeks you are…

No no no no no no no. They are not an answer to anything. If you feel they are an answer, speak to a doctor. Or two.

I dated this girl for a while - super thin, great curves, sexy as all get out. We broke up and went our seperate ways. A few years later she emailed me saying she was in town. We decided to get together for dinner. When she came to the door I saw she gained 30 or 40 pounds. Want to know how I handled it?

I understand what you are saying, but never forget, many many people believe that there is no greater sexy than fit. As for me, I cant stop touching myself. Not in that way! Just feeling the muscle definition that I have never really had before, the tightness of my ab muscles, the distinct lack of flab where there used to…

Its a vacation. Take a vacation from your diet too. Enjoy yourself. Do you need a second dessert? Nah... but have one anyway. You earned a vacation and paid for it... enjoy it. The weight will mostly be water and will come off. Ive been on 2 cruises while losing and was back on track in less than a week each time. I sail…

I weight myself first thing every morning. Why? Because I am a big honkin' geek who likes numbers and spreadsheets. :)
-
I always exercise before eating. I would have a hard time eating first.

Totally faked pictures. If you look closely in the picture on the right, the shirt is backwards. :-D Awesome job! Keep it up. :)

Most people fail to lose or gain in week 3. The first 2 weeks are primarily water weight. As you get used to your new diet and exercise plan, your water stabilizes. As for the other site, MFP and it probably use different formulas. For instance, MFP does not include exercise calories in your daily food - it adds them in…

I'm gonna turn this around on you - this is my list compared to yours about losing and getting healthy: 1. THe non-scale victory of getting that favorite clothing item to fit again. 2. Going to a party, eating like a bird and having your friends look at you and say "damn - that girl has strength" 3. That first time you put…

My ideal weight will still have me overweight in BMI. Ive calculated it out and if I were to drop into the 'normal' range for BMI, my body fat percentage would be right around 15. While it would be nice to have those abs, I dont think its realistic.

Its not what you do everyday that matters, its what you do most days. We all have bad days. Some of us even plan for them. No worries - one box of donuts isnt how you got overweight in the first place and it wont undo what you have accomplished so far.

At 6' 223lb male, I burn just about 1000 calories per hour according to my HRM. I ride a mountain bike at 14-15 mph.

+1 for Stronglifts or New Rules. Both great programs. Personally I follow stronglifts. But I am not a woman... but I hear good things about it. Both the book and women. :)

Bring a less attractive date. :)

2399 using the TDEE-20% method. This is giving me 1.8lbs/week over the last 5 weeks.

On the road to sexypants!

When I was in the army I smoked 2-3 packs a day and ran 6-10 miles a day. Yeah, you will cough up some awfulness, but you really want to get that all out anyway. Have at it!

Normal: yes. Go down: yes and no. If you weigh every day, you might notice yourself a bit heavier on days after lifting (i.e. days you are sore). This is your body retaining water to repair the muscles. My advice: step away from the scale for a few weeks and only use a tape measure to measure your progress.

Because I want all of my wife's friends to think I'm hot.

I do 5x5 and log about 150 calories per workout (at 6' M 222lbs)

If you want results you will push through. Its really as simple as that. Gym - a chore. Yep. Sure is. But sure feels good and looks good afterwards. Im sure there are many things you do in life that are a chore and you do just because they need doing. Have you tried Crossfit?

Set MFP to maintain. Keep logging. If in a few weeks you are still losing or gaining, adjust it manually 100 calories every other week or so in the right direction until you level out. And congrats on nearly reaching your goal!

Do you own a hammer? Go get it, go to your scale and start hitting the scale with the hammer. Once the scale is in at least 5 pieces, stop... and go have a snack. If you have suffered ED issues in the past, owning a scale is akin to an alcoholic owning a pub.

Wait - so the 3 minutes it takes in a day to count calories is more effort than the 2-3 hours a day it will take to exercise off your bad diet?
-
You cant outtrain a bad diet.

You dont have that much to lose... I would drop it to 1lb/week and add in some weight training. Lifting weights has huge benefits both in weight loss and physical ability. You will quickly find just about everything is easier, from loading groceries to walking up the stairs.
