  • Mine came out in emergency surgery on 2/8/12. I had two (now known) attacks and then 15 hours of back pain, stomach cramps and vomiting before I went to the ER. They kept me there until they were sure what it was and did surgery 9 hours later. The surgeon told me I would not need to change how I eat altho lots of people do…
  • I am 5' 5.5" and started MFP at 232. I am at 211 now. I promised myself a new headshot when I get below 200. I am a real estate broker and my picture is on my business card. people tell me they can tell but I haven't taken or posted any pictures yet.
  • Yes, take off the time goals and just have weight loss goals. You can't rush a healthy weight loss. One pound a week is considered sustainable, tweak your MFP goals so it says a pound a week and really use the calorie info for meal planning before the fact, not just tracking after the fact when you've already eaten the…
  • I you have an iPad or phone there is a cool app called iPeriod that is amazing for tracking your cycle and showing your ovulation, etc. I am just using it to get a reminder when it's coming.
  • Just having a tool like MFP for looking up food info is working for me. I am working wit a doctor and she gave me a food journal to fill out and I did that for two meals before going online and signing up here. She had another patient recommend it to her and I am glad because I don't know if I would have thought to go…
  • You lost it really fast, what's your secret? And I also noticed YOUR SMILE IS MISSING! Smiling girls look so beautiful!
  • Me! Westside indahouse! I've been looking for more West coast friends since everyone else I am friends with is hours away and always in bed- except 2 and my husband. I posted a comment about this once and one of the women sent out a message to other friends she had who lived in my time zone, isn't that sweet? I am 41 so my…
  • I am sorry you are sick! But I want to urge you to keep your bugs to yourself and stay home while you are sick. If you go to work sick and then make your colleagues sick. Don't you think they need money too? so maybe you will get your full check, but your co-workers are going to get sick and miss work. And then they will…
  • Your weight loss goals need to be based on science, and also aimed at a healthier future with LASTING weight loss. There are no quick, fixes. I do not have any time lines on my weight loss. I am working with a weight loss specialist, a doctor through my health care system. She asked me , how much do yo want to lose? I said…
  • Yep, more protein, more water, and more frequent/smaller "meals". And the attitude of mind over matter, you won't let this kick your butt. The longer you are overweight and the older you get the harder it is to lose.
  • *bump* just to see if anyone else has any input. Thanks!
  • I was on the pill for 22 years. I never credited it with weight gain, just less activity and whatever the heck I wanted. Now I'm off it but didn't lose any weight until 6 months later when I started working with a doctor to lose it, and keeping calories around 1200.
  • Take them to a consignment shop. You can buy new-to-you clothes with the money from selling your old clothes.
  • We met at 26, married a year later at 27. Bought our first house 4 years later. We never planned kids, and at 35 made that permanent thru surgery. Then the recession came. Our careers are in the toilet, we're fighting to keep our home (a different one), went thru bankruptcy, and last year I made what I made after high…
  • Pictures don't lie! I can't wait to hit 30 lost, also halfway of my current goal. I started at 232, so my halfway pic will look like your first pic. I am an inch taller. Keep up the good work!
  • I am working with a physician. She said I needed 25-30 g protein within 60 minutes of getting up. Eggs only have 6 g protein. The only way I see to get this much protein is with a protein shake. I recommend Syntrax Nectar Sweets. A huge variety in flavors, all have 23-25 g protein, and if you mix in milk you get that…

  • Interesting comments! Thanks for making me think about it. I do eat my calories back. For now my body is still adjusting to a lot fewer calories than before. And for sure a lot less sugar.

  • I agree with tameko2, If you weighed any less at that height you would blow away. You really need to go see a doctor. I am worried for you.
  • The physician who is supervising my diet said my protein intake needed to be higher than my carb intake, and my first meal needed to be 25-30 g protein. So my settings are 40% protein and 30% each carbs and fat. Daily goal is 120 g protein and stay under 100 g carbs, but in the month since I started my diet I haven't…
  • This is one of my inspirations and motivations for going on my first and last diet. I haven't seen smaller than size 16 since 1995 and have been in size 20 or 22 for 10 years. Congratulations on your accomplishment! You've come a long way, baby!
  • I am working with a bariatric specialist so consider this. Starting at 232 pounds, she told me to eat 1200 calories a day, that my first meal needed to be within 60 minutes of waking and be 25-30 grams protein. The only way to do that is a protein shake, and I really recommend Syntrax Nectar Sweets shakes for flavor and…
  • I went to an EcoStiletto event and Elemis was there. Last I saw them I was 25 and on a cruise and I had a facial and some zapping for blackheads. Now I am turning 41 and I sat with their West Coast trainer, Zelda or something similar, and she said from now on to never use anything to scrub my face, wash at night and…
  • Gee, I need to go buy some frozen spinach! Everything sounds grea!
  • I don't watch The Biggest Loser. I don't like the idea of competition for this and what they portray is not really achievable for the normal person who has a normal life. Heavy was very educational, tho, and helped me decide to arrest this weight gain and love myself.
  • We have 3 cats, and I adopted an Italian greyhound in 2005 as a walking partner. My husband resented it but my need to have a partner overrode his desire to not have a dog just because he prefers cats. he loves her, they are very cat-like, clean, don't shed, and love to cuddle.
  • I live in the land of Starbucks but had to eliminate caffeine a few years ago. My neighbor worked there and when I eliminated refined sugars from my diet she suggested I try honey in my decaf. I used to drink flavored creamers and several sugar packs a cup, ridiculous. Anyway, I love honey in black coffee, no creamer…
