Tips for recreational biking
Hi all! I bought my bike back in 2015, but unfortunately got sick right after, so it was never really ridden. I have recovered significantly, and my friend just tuned my bike up the other day. I rode it yesterday and today just around the block. It's about 1/3 mile, low resistance, and mostly flat road (just one uphill),…

How are you all?
Hi all, just checking in to see how everyone is doing these days? What do you think of this article https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/09/160920151435.htm#.V-M3qraoEU8.facebook

Higher weights, lower reps?
I think I know the answer to this, but I figured I would ask to make sure. I am doing pretty well with my workout routine, and have made some significant gains. However, there are some workouts that I continue to struggle with (mostly shoulders/laterals). My sets have been 3x12. Would it be okay to stick with that with…

low carb - are carbs easier to digest after a workout?
I eat low carb (100g net) due to digestive health issues, and all my carbs come from fruits and vegetables. I know there are some benefits to eating carbs after a workout, and I am wondering if they are easier to digest around that time as well.

Anyone maintained after trying to gain weight?
I became severely underweight after an autoimmune flare last year, and I have been dealing with yo yo weight since my teens when I first got sick. Thankfully, I gained 33lbs (now 125), and my goal weight for now is at 140-145. I know I have ways to go, but I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. A bulk/cut…

Transferring Libra data
Hey all, I use Libra right now, but my phone is on the verge of combusting. I haven't decided what kind of phone I will buy next, but I am wondering if it's possible to transfer the data if I happen to get an iPhone (or any phone that doesn't use Libra). Thanks!

Commercial Line: "Sugar is the enemy of protein" ??
I saw a commercial the other day (I think it was Atkins), and the actor said, "Sugar is the enemy of protein". I tried looking up information, but I could not find out what makes this statement true (or false). How does sugar impact protein?

Sweating
I had my 4th PT appointment earlier today, and it was the first time I broke into sweat. My weights obviously haven't changed, but does that mean I am already getting more fit relatively speaking?

Anyone with success stories/progress from being underweight?
Hi ladies! I finally started working with my pt again after a bad flare up last year. I lost a lot of weight, but now i am eating enough to gain .5lb per week. I was wondering if any of you started lifting when you were underweight? I see a lot of success weight loss stories, but not the other way around.

Online Resources
What are some good online resources to read about general health and fitness? I like reading studies and articles, but anything reputable would be great!

Logging meat drippings as cooking fat?
I save beef fat to cook with eggs and other dishes. Meat drippings is actually in the USDA database, so do I log when I use it?

Changing weight goals over time?
Hi, So right now I am ~100 pounds at 5'11" and started lifting again with my personal trainer. I have worked with her in the past before, and had amazing results - I just fell off the wagon because of a bad flare up last year. We discussed weight goals. I told her I looked my best around 140 lbs. She says it would be a…

Atlanta - any gluten free/paleo friendly all day breakfast places?
Hi everyone, I am going to visit my sister in Atlanta next weekend. She wants to go to an all day breakfast place (for dinner) for her birthday. Are there any options that are paleo/at least gluten free friendly? It would be better if they were a little conscious about cross contamination.

stretching
I am starting personal training again after about a 2 year hiatus. I am obviously a little rusty, so should I stretch before the work out, or just do some light cardio (i.e. walking for 10 minutes). How about after the workout? I will discuss this with my personal trainer as well, but I would appreciate some input from you…

Hungry the day after workout
I used to be really hungry the day I exercised. I stopped my diet and exercise due to health issues, but I am slowly getting back in the game. The funny thing is, my appetite is relatively normal the day I exercise, but I am ravenous the next day. I am gaining weight, so it's not a problem as long as I monitor my carb…

Trying to gain weight
Hi! I have to eat low carb (around 100-120g net daily) for Crohn's Disease. However, my goal is to gain weight as I am underweight at the moment. I was just wondering if there is anyone else trying to gain, and what are some tips that you may have?

logging peeled apples
I have to peel apples since they're difficult for me to digest. I can't seem to find consistent information in the database, and google/usda didn't help. Is there an accurate way to log peeled apples? Does it make a difference if I log them as regular apples? By the way, and I do weigh them.

Two separate questions regarding logging recipes.
1. I make home made broth using the bones from chicken carcass. How do I enter the bones only into the recipe (I can find stock, but it's always in cups and fluid ounces). I have been weighing them as the same chicken brand I have been eating, but I don't think that's correct. 2. I also like to make homemade applesauce. Do…

I'm thinking of getting a food scale to make sure I am eating enough. I have read threads about them benefiting those for weight loss but not weight gain. Have they helped any of you?

fast heart rate. thinking about getting an activity tracker.
I have sinus tachycardia (fast heart rate) due to anemia. It's not life threatening, but I am wondering i should consider getting a monitor to track it? Anyone have similar experiences...does tracking it actually help?

Crohnie just keeping a food and exercise diary
Hi all, I am glad I have joined this community. I have been trying to find the right one that will calculate nutritional information most accurately - as someone who makes almost all of her own food due to the Autoimmune Protocol, this was so difficult. Myfitnesspal seemse to be the most user friendly. I also want to get…

Heart rate jumps during steady walking. Do I trust the treadmill?
Hi all, Just FYI, I typically have a high heart rate, but it gets stronger when I work out more consistently. I just started going to the gym again after being sedentary for most of the year, and yesterday I was able to walk for an hour on the treadmill at a steady pace. There were times when my heart rate was 82, times…

Salaam All!
Salaam sisters! I have a bit of a different story than most people on here. I have trouble gaining weight due to an autoimmune disease, so I am just trying to stay healthy while on a restricted but delicious diet. Hopefully the weight gain will come soon. I did really well last year until I had a flare up and was…
