How do you keep records of races?
I just finished my first race yesterday (10k in 56:59) and I am planning a bunch more this summer (including one or two half marathons). How do you keep records of the races you do and your times? I know that as soon as I start completing more and more races, I won't have my numbers stuck in my head, so I'd like a place to…

Got to goal!! Pics, and need some advice
I can't believe it but I finally met my goal. I have never done that before. Sure, I've had success before, but I've never made a weight loss goal and actually met it. How I did it: I started off last year (around sept or oct 2011) on my own, and wasnt' very successful. Knowing what I know now about weight loss etc, I know…

NSV- Ran my first race!
I just finished my first ever race- a 10k! I just started running in January and I finished it in 56:59! I'm so excited to be a runner and so excited to start training for a half marathon!

My NSV with pics :)
It's my husband's birthday tomorrow and for once in my life, I felt like I was worth going out to buy a new dress! My sister grabbed a medium to give to me, and it fit great! I actually spent more than I ever have on a dress (I mean besides a wedding dress) because since I've lost 17lbs, I feel like I deserve it! Here is a…

What TYPE of weights do you use?
I use barbells that you put individual weights on to, and have to spin the piece to secure it. (Wow I wish I could describe that better). I like it because it allows me to use a variety of weights for this program, but it often takes me a little while to change from lighter (but still heavy) arm weights to heavier leg…

Deficit or no?
I have been working out consistently for about 6 months now, but I am finally realizing I need to do strength/lifting, so I start CLX tomorrow. I also run about 25k a week, and will continue that. My current maintenance calories are about 1900, and I eat at 1490. Can I still continue to eat at 1490, or will that stop me…

Running question please
I am in week 7 of a 13 week 10k faster program. I used to get shin splints all the time, but they went away. Today I started to feel them again (after a day of rest and crosstraining- and before I did my run). I am terrified that if I keep going they'll get worse. Week 8 is supposed to be a recovery week (easier, shorter…

Lifting questions please
As soon as I get some heavier weights, I'll be learning to lift heavy. I might try NROLFW (though I probably won't get a barbell, so I don't know), I might just do Chalean Extreme. I will do this 2-3x a week. I will be continuing to run 3x a week as I am training for a race and love to run. My question is- I know that you…

Am I doing the wrong training program?
I am working on training for my first race- a 10k. I have always been pretty active and could always jump on a treadmill and run 5k after not running for awhile. I found a training program that is called "run 10k faster" because the beginner programs looked too easy for me (I didn't want to walk, and I didn't want to only…

HR and walking on incline
I am the type of person that does not burn many calories during cardio- usually 200 for 30 mins of hard cardio. While I run, my HR gets between 140 and 170. Today, after running a tough, fast 30 minute run, I walked on incline on the treadmill for 20 minutes. I kept looking at my watch while walking (7 incline) and my HR…

Please post your 10K time
I am finally recovered from my horrible shin splints and ready to get back into training for races this summer. I am starting with a 10K because I've never actually done a race before. I can run pretty well (I ran 8K today with sprint intervals) but I want to make a time goal. I have no idea what to make as my goal so I…

Starting today!
I am doing day 1 today, which will be Fire 30 and stretch 10. I am pretty excited, although I'm not feeling great today. I gave myself a rest day yesterday knowing I might have a cold coming on, but I definitely want to start today. Is anyone else starting??

I love my new snacks.
I just discovered the joy of buying individual yogurts and sugar free puddings, and then freezing them. I take one out when I really need a treat, and instead of eating it with 3 spoonfuls, it takes a good 10 minutes to eat, just like ice cream. I have no idea if this is already an extremely known snack, but I thought I'd…

Ok, I'm convinced. A question about lifting.
After hanging around here and reading lots of articles, I have finally become convinced that I should be doing heavy lifting and weight training. However, along with training for 10k I am doing Turbo Fire which uses resistance bands for the strength training. Will the resistance bands provide the same benefit of 'lifting…

A myth or fact regarding pregnancy?
Is it true that the better shape you're in when you get pregnant, the easier it will be to get back into shape after the baby? I ask because I will have kids in a few years, and I'm worried that all this work losing weight will all go away when I have kids.

Big overnight loss?
I tried searching but couldn't quite come up with my question. I try to weigh in once a week because otherwise it can really affect me if I get a temporary gain. Sundays are always my weigh in days. Yesterday, I cheated and jumped on the scale- it read the exact same weight as last weigh in. Whatever. Like always, I get on…

How do you know this time is THE time?
I, like many others, have tried many times to lose weight. I have been successful in the past but have easily let it all go to crap while I gain it all back. So, how does this time around feel different to you? For me- here are the reasons I can tell it is different: -my most used website in the last few months is MFP -I…

Could my hrm underestimate calories?
I was doing insanity with my hrm today and after the pure cardio video I had apparently only burned like 180 calories for 30 mins. I checked my hr several times throughout my workout and it was in the higher end but a few times it was very low (like 80 or 90) which must have been wrong since I could barely breathe. Is…

Help- should I eat more?
My daily goal is 1500 calories- today I burned 542 so I was able to eat about 1700-2000 today if I wanted. It's almost 9pm and I'm only at 1275 calories eaten, which is only 733 NET. I have been eating so well today that I didn't realize I have so much left. After dinner, I didn't feel very good so I ate more (dinner was…

A small victory
I only started on here a few months ago, and it was slow going at first while I figured out my numbers. I feel like I'm full force into it though, and here are a few reasons why. 2 weeks ago we left for an all inclusive Mexican vacation. I actually took the time to workout a bunch of times while I was there! While we were…

workout program question
Im very familiar with most workout programs and I own most of them. I have done insanity and lots of different videos as I feel like it. Id like to start an actual program but I can't decide what to do. I don't want to do insanity yet because I want to take it slow this time but I'm not sure if something like 30dshred…

HRM and Hiit
I read somewhere that your HRM is no long accurate as soon as your workout is over. I have a HRM that seems pretty accurate, and it has a chest strap. Today I did a HIIT workout, and left my watch/chest strap on for 10 minutes after my workout, and my HR was still around 130, and the calorie burn increased significantly.…

Clarification on ST please
I read am article yesterday on the importance of doing strength training only on days of shorter cardio. Can this include my 30-45 min HIIT cardio that I do or is it too much? Also is circuit training like 30d shred considered strength training or can I do this on long cardio days too?

Going over in protein?
I seem to go over my daily goals in protein often. I just really like tuna, salmon, and chicken in my diet. Is this bad? Can too much protein be bad? I am trying to lose weight.

Another HRM Question
I ordered a HRM online and it has a chest strap- I've read this is the best way to calculate calories burned during workouts. However, the brand isn't the most popular brand, so I'm worried that it might not be as accurate as I hope. Will the fact that it has a chest strap help make it more reliable than if I had gotten a…

P90X Question
I'm really sorry if this question has been asked before- I did search it but there is so much on P90X I couldnt get through it all. I've done insanity before and loved it, and decided to try out P90X as a new workout routine. I'm really interested in the strength training aspect of it that Insanity didn't have. Cardio has…

Does this seem right to you?
I am 5'7 159lbs. Ive been working out 6x a week and following mfps calorie goal for me which is 1200 without exercise and usually about 1400 or 1500 with exercise. Ive been doing this for 3 weeks and nothings happened. After reading advice to others, I changed my goal from 2lbs a week to 1lb a week. It now has me eating…

Strength training/lifting question
My workout routine consists of: 3x a week running (45 mins- sometimes interval running) 5x a week I do a different workout dvd that includes hand weights (like Ripped in 30 or the focused Turbo Fire videos for upper/lower body). I switch it up so I am not overworking any muscles. I think videos like Jillian and Turbo Fire…

Jillian etc videos- not enough cardio?
This time around I decided to start doing Jillian Michaels workouts (BFBM, NMTZ, 30DShred, RI30) to lose weight. I did these in combination for 3 weeks 6 days a week with a few times a week at the gym on the elliptical as well. I tried calories at 1200 and then tried to up them when that didn't seem to work. I don't seem…

How many calories per meal
I am wondering how many calories you usually eat per meal and if you have a bigger breakfast or dinner.
