High Fibre / Low(ish) calorie
Hi, I'm looking for any meals/recipes which anyone may have that are really high fibre and quite low in calories. I only have exercise calories left (going to the gym now) so around 300-500 but I've realised now my fibre's only at 10g :/ The foods I have in that may be of use are: Peas Carrots Bananas Apples Oats Baked…

Support and Weight loss
OK so I've finally finished my dissertation study, and I know many people on here had taken part and were wondering about the results. The main things I was trying to find out was how does a person's support they receive impact on their weight loss, and is there any difference between online and offline support. Everyone…

400 calories a day - Cambridge diet.
I just came across an article just now which I'm really shocked about. I don't know how any newspaper (even the dailymail, and their love of celeb weight losses!) could possibly be allowed to what looks like promote a really unhealthy weight loss programme.…

Why BMI shouldn't be used.
Like a lot of people on here, I don't really believe it BMI. I think it can be a useful tool for the average person but shouldn't be so relied upon, and other measures taken as well.…

How does support impact on weight loss?
Hi, I'm currently doing an online study (questionnaire) for my dissertation at uni, and am looking for anyone who would like to take part - preferably those who've been using this site for 6+ months. The study is about social support and the impact it can have on a person's weight loss goals. I find this area really…

Deadlift Form
So, I need ideas on how I can improve my form on deadlifts. It's not the worst form ever but my back's definitely rounded. The problem is, to me it feels fine and I had no idea until my bf filmed it (he's not the best judge on form so I had to see it for myself) Another problem is, I can drop the weight considerably, to a…

Support with Weight Loss
Hi, Since being a member of MFP for some time now, I've decided to do my university dissertation on the topic of social support and how it affects a person's weight loss. I'm really interested in this area of health and would be extremely grateful for anybody who wishes to take part in my study. It takes approximately…

Social Support & Weight Loss/Management
I'm conducting a study for my dissertation at uni on Social Support and Weight Loss / Management. Since I've been on MFP for a while, really love it here and see topics all the time about people struggling with support, I decided this would be the perfect place to collect data. Note: I have had ethical approval to post the…

Women and bulking up
I read an article earlier today which was about women's views on bulking up and what they thought of when hearing the word "bulky". http://www.leighpeele.com/bulky-muscles-and-training-females-the-definition I found it really interesting and was wondering whether the women on here would agree with the population of women…

Trainer from Biggest Loser UK
I don't know how many people here have seen the UK version of "The Biggest Loser" before but I just read this now: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2065042/Star-ITVs-Biggest-Loser-falls-death-jumping-Beachy-Head.html So sad :(

Weightlifting belts
Regarding the belts that people use when lifting, such as in squats & deadlifts. How important would you find them for deadlifts and what would be a suitable weight to start using them? I haven't been doing deadlifts for too long (since around May regularly) and don't use them, but then I've never gone really high on the…

Low sodium/carb meals?
I have over 700 calories left to eat today and looking for ideas on what to have to eat tonight. I haven't got much sodium or carbs left (123mg and 5g carbs) - don't mind going over on them slightly but preferably not by much. Plenty of fat and protein left though so those don't matter. I also have meat in the house…

The Pill - changes in strength/muscle
I've been doing some research lately into the effects of the contraceptive pill on muscle and strength gains and whether they can hinder performance in this. I've found some interesting articles I thought of sharing for anyone who's interested. I'm not promoting anyone coming off this without alot of thought, but it makes…

Polar FT4 question
Has anyone who has this HRM experienced any problems with it reading your heart rate at all. Mine has working perfectly up until now with no problems at all but today it couldn't pick up a reading in the middle of my workout. I adjusted it a bit, wet it a bit more and eventually it worked again but 1 minute later it went…

Chicken Recipes
I'm looking for a meal to make for dinner tonight involving chicken. I've had so much of the same thing lately, chicken curry, lemon chicken, sweet and sour etc so I'm looking for something new. Not necessarily low cal, can go up to about 700 cals but the healthier the better still :) Anybody got any tasty recipes to share?

Gym Rats - Don't be that guy!
I came across this series of short youtube vids the other day and found them so funny I had to share with others. It's a bunch of guys filming about all the different types of people you get at the gym that you don't want to be like. Really great job, and I'm shocked at how many they have got going, there's a second…

Chocolate sponge calories
I had this chocolate sponge muffin while at work today and unsure what to log it as and how many calories it would be roughly. It was homemade and the only two things I can find on the database is 1 slice of chocolate sponge cake - 52 cals and 1 chocolate muffin homemade - 250 cals. One seems really low and the other seems…

Good Protein Shakes
I'm looking for a new protein shake to try, preferably one with about 25g per serving and that tastes bearable. Plus that I could buy either in the UK or online that can be sent to the UK. At the moment I have Casilan 90, it's good and flavourless so I can add whatever to it and really easy to drink but it doesn't have…

Simple lunch ideas
I'm looking for some ideas of what to have for lunch, preferably something quite high protein but I don't have any fresh meat in like chicken. I'd usually have a sandwich but it's gets so boring having the same thing over and over. Things I could make with tuna would be good apart from the usual tuna mayo. Main things I…

Insanity Nutrition
To anyone who's been following the Insanity Nutrition Guide at some point, did you ever change things up a bit with meals of you're own choice and what sort of things did you choose? I love the options they give, much more simple than I was expecting but I know at some point I'll want to mix things up again with something…

HRM chest straps
I want to get myself a HRM monitor today and found a few that I like the look of. As most seem to have chest straps with them I'm wondering if that would be comfortable when working out or not, I don't want to have something on me thats just going to be annoying me the whole time. This is the one I plan to get if anyones…

Recording Calories burned - HRM
When you record in here the calories your HRM says you burnt in a workout, do you take away how many you would usually burn in the same amount of time by doing nothing, or do you just enter all of what it says?

Elliptical or rower?
In your experience which do you find is best for burning calories. I'm thinking of buying one and like the idea of an elliptical trainer but I've heard rowing would be a better workout.

Fat/Protein/Carb Goals
I'm wondering what amounts people have set their fat/protein/carb goals to and what has been found to be useful. I was originally on the settings MFP creates but wanted to change things round a bit. I'm going over quite often on protein and so I might put that higher and carbs lower but I don't really know what's best.

Injury and break from workouts :/
I've somehow injured my foot and havent been able to do 30 day shred in a week because of this. This is incredibly demotivating as I was intending on doing it every day or at least most days in the week. I want to be able forget about it until it's fully better and then start the dvd over again, but this feels to me like…

Sat Fat Allowance
The whole time I have been with MFP, my daily goal of saturated fat has always been 15g, to lose a pound a week. This has never changed no matter how much exercise I did (which i always found kinda weird but i put it down to it being an unhealthy fat) However, today I log my food and exercise in like normal and I realise…
