Get chills after working out?
I'm just wondering if anyone else gets chills after working out. I've been doing a lot of cardio (walking) the last week, usually 1 1/2 - 2 hrs a day. I'm sweating for most of my workout and warm enough that I don't want a jacket even if it's cool and foggy out. Once I get home, I'm fine for about half and hour and then…

Random nutrition musing
I LOVE bacon. I love it when it is crispy and crunchy and all golden brown and delicious. My family always gets thick sliced, apple wood smoked bacon and in the cooking process a *lot* of fat cooks out. We're talking 1 slice probably produces 1/2 tbsp of bacon grease. Our usual technique is to pour that grease off. We…

When do you decide that LCHF just isn't working for you?
I having a really hard time right now. I WANT to be thinner. I'm working really hard at it. And NOTHING. This is going to be long, but I just need to be able to talk to someone. My weight has always been an issue, I can't even remember my first diet, but over the past 12 years my weight went from 267 -> 210 -> 240 -> 200…

Sweeteners for baking/desserts?
I've been trying to come up with some good "treat" substitutes to have while my family is gorging on cookies and candies this Christmas. I've noticed that some of the low-carb/keto recipes call for Splenda, some for erythritol, some for liquid stevia, and some for Truvia. I've also read on the forums that all sugar…

Dieting on dates?
How soon into a new relationship do you tell someone about your diet? I'm doing keto, so one "cheat day" can effect me for a week. I met someone today for a first date (coffee and a small lunch) and it just happened to be at a bakery. There was NOTHING on the menu that fit my diet, but I didn't want to be difficult about…

What do you eat when you're sick?
I've had a stomach bug for a day or so and have really been struggling with what to eat. My mother, a nurse, has said no fats or meats because they are harder to digest. And a past doctor told me that is you're feeling nauseous to stick to toast, rice, and other carbs. What do you eat when you have a sick stomach?

Keto "bread" that's freezer friendly?
Does anyone have a recipe for a keto bread or muffin that freezes well? I'd love to have something that I could pull out when the rest of my family decides they want something sandwich-y for dinner.

How do you meet people (both as new friends and possible dates)?
So far I've tried online dating (25% successful) and meeting people organically (I can never tell if they are interested or just polite). I'm actually really shy until I know someone, so it's hard to break the ice. And I'm also agnostic, so church is out. Ideas or suggestions?

Would you move for the chance of finding love?
I actually am very comfortable where I am. It's close enough to family that I can see them regularly (and get there quickly in an emergency - aging parents) but still far enough away that I have my own space. I really like the people I work with. Even though my job might not be ideal for long term, it's fine for me at the…

Has anyone tried Hazelnut Butter?
OMG It's amazing. And at only 2g net carbs per ounce, it's legal even for keto. There are only 2 downsides: it's ridiculously expensive ($18 for 13oz at my local specialty foods store) and I could literally eat the whole container in 2 or 3 sittings. :p (Note: this is just pure hazelnut butter made from ground hazelnuts,…

Keto while sick?
I just got struck down by a stomach bug/possible food poisoning. The doctor gave me a suggested menu for the next two days which consists of bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and decaf tea. With the exception of the tea, all of these things are generally on my forbidden list for low carb foods. What do you eat if you're…

Scared about getting intimate with someone new after weight loss and saggy skin...
So I've been of the dating scene for about 2 years and am just now starting to date again, but even though I'm looking pretty good in clothing, without clothes there is all this baggy skin and lumpy cellulite everywhere from losing weight. I mean, it's BAD. I've lost about 40lbs since September and have 60 more to go to my…

Low Carb Key Lime Pie?
I've been doing Keto for several months now, but recently I've had a hankering to make Key Lime pie. I've always done the traditional kind (key lime juice, egg yolks, and sweetened condensed milk baked in a graham cracker crust and topped with whipped cream). The fake green Jell-O colored ones aren't worth it. The egg…

Why MCT oil?
I've read a lot of posts on the LCHF and Keto forums talking about MCT oil and I'm hoping someone can answer some questions. What is MCT oil? What does it come from? How do you use it? What are the benefits of using it over, say, coconut oil? Is it worth the roughly $1/oz price? Thanks in advance!

What are your high carb cravings and replacements?
I know for me, I crave cheesy snacking things ( I probably should have owned stock in Cheetos and Smartfood). I tried one of the no-carb cheetos recipes out there and it was basically an unsweetened meringue with tiny shreds of cheddar folded in. I just couldn't get past the texture. I do like these low-carb "goldfish"…

Ladies - measuring Ketones and TOM?
Guys, you probably want to duck out now... seriously. Girls, I have a question about using ketostix. Are they at all accurate around that time of the month? I haven't even bothered to test the last few days because a) it's kind of gross right now and b) If the ketostix measure anything based on protein, will they even work…

Kitchen equipment you can't live without?
Hi folks! Since I started eating keto, I'm finding myself doing a lot more cooking from scratch and getting really excited about trying some recipes again. The problem is that I live in a ridiculously really small place and my kitchen is miniscule tiny (about 4 sq ft of counter space). While I would love to have all the…

Flirting tips?
I need help! I'm absolutely dismal at knowing if a guy is flirting with me and at flirting back. It's been 2 years since my last relationship ended and I think I'm hesitantly finally ready to get back out there in the dating scene. Any pointers?

Keto Calorie question
I just recently went from a high protein/low carb diet to true keto and I was curious. I was already at 1,200 calories before and had plateaued on weight loss at that. My MBR is 1,765 cal/day and at a sedentary exercise level they estimated that I was using 2,118 cal/day, so 1,200 was where I needed to be for steady 2…

Knee replacement and diet after
Hi guys! About a year and a half ago, my rheumatologist told be that I need bilateral knee replacement. While I've been going through all the fun insurance hurdles (shoot me now), I've also been working really hard at losing weight. It's all had to be through diet because I literally cannot bend my knees at all and am not…

"red bed" and Stretch marks
Does anyone have experience using a "red bed"? I think it's an infrared, heat bed type thing. It doesn't tan. They have one at our gym and recommend it for joint and muscle aches and "to increase collagen production in your skin" (make it firmer and reduce flabby skin and stretch marks). Has anyone noticed a difference in…

More moody with weight loss?
This is just something I've been noticing. As I lose weight I getting more moody and emotional about stuff. I used to be very even emotionally, I didn't even get PMS. Now everything sets me off. It's like my emotions are at PMS levels at all times. My nutrition professor was talking about sterols (like cholesterol) and…

Chapped lips
I've been noticing recently that my lips are really chapped, even to the point of cracking when I smile. I'm drinking all my water (and then some) so I can't be dehydrated. Could it be from drinking TOO MUCH water? Has anyone else noticed this?

Question about Basal Metabolic Rate
I've seen quite a few posts about eating *at least* your Basal Metabolic Rate to keep your metabolism up. My BMR is 1619 calories/day My net calorie goal (on MFP) is 1200 calories/day That's a 419 calorie difference Some days I easily burn 700-1000 calories through exercise, other days I'm in the 400 calorie range; and…
