Mixed signals on appropriate foods
So I've been doing some research - mostly for a class project - on the caveman and/or paleo diet and I've run in to a few mixed signals. The biggest one being bacon! Some people say that bacon should be avoided because it's salty, other say it's okay in moderation, other say to embrace it whole heartedly. Where do you…

Running in the winter in Oregon
How do you guys do it!? I know up here in the valley, it rains just about every day. I don't run in the rain. Period. I'm too broke for a gym membership, so I want to know how you guys do it, if you do! Do you just tough it out?

Very interesting article by Prevention
This was a pretty good read. What kind of eater are you? I thought there were two types - healthy and emotional, but I was SO wrong! http://online.prevention.com/obsessedwithfood/index.shtml?cm_mmc=Eat-Up-Slim-Down-_-725660-_-11072011-_-13-Signs-Youre-Overthinking-Mealtime

NSV! SMALLER PANTS!!
YES!! It finally happened! I fit into my old pants. I haven't worn these comfortably since JANUARY. Ten months!! I grew out of them by March of this year, and THEN I grew out of my new fat pants. So technically, I'm down two pant sizes, although I never brought myself to actually buying big ones that fit, I just wore…

Running NSV!
I ran five miles today, like it was no big deal. I've done slightly longer distances, but they take me awhile, and I usually stop to walk a couple of blocks. But today I didn't stop! I didn't even need to. My mind told me to turn around because it was cold and raining, but my body just kept going. I felt like an athelete…

My first NSV this time around
Sometimes you have to take what you can get in this journey, and today I'm taking the fact that I fit back into my jeans!! I haven't worn jeans in over a month - been sticking to loose dresses and sweats :grumble: - because the biggest pair of jeans I ever owned (aka my fat pants) no longer fit. I INSISTED on not buying…

How long do I have to wait to eat after running?
I'm trying to run every morning, and I know you're supposed to eat after a work out, but I'm not much of a morning eater. I've been told A LOT that I need to eat right when I wake up (OK guys....I get it  ), but what about after a run? I usually down two large glasses of water (I get really thirsty) but have no…

When do you eat breakfast?
This has been plauging my mind for a few weeks now. I'm not a huge breakfast eater! I love breakfast food - bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, hashbrowns (mmm....hashbrowns...) - but I don't like to eat in the morning. I'm just not that hungry! Here's my typical routine - wake up around 830 or 9, have coffee (waaaay too much…

Exploring Paleo
I'm exploring Paleo as I have heard great things about it, and I always seem to eat waaay too many carbs and sugars. I love meat more than anything in the world, but I also love dairy and grains. SO Paleo people, I have a few questions: -How do you kick the cravings for grains (if you have any)? -Do you still track your…

Chicken Fajitas
I am on a blogging adventure where I try 80 recipes in 80 days! Follow along at: http://casey-thelazychef.blogspot.com/ The other night I made chicken fajitas, and they were kind of awesome. So I'm sharing! Shopping List: 4 Chicken breast halves (I used 1.64 pounds of chicken breast tenders because I’m lazy, and didn’t…

Stuffed Potatoes
I was in the mood for twice baked potatoes, and I found this recipe! The recipe doesn’t call for cheese or bacon (because it’s healthy!) but you can always add those in if you want. I was afraid of the dill weed, because I’ve never had it before, but it gave it a little something extra that I very much enjoyed. And I…

Chicken Noodle Soup
Super simple, gentle flavor. I've been sick, and things with a lot of flavor have been surprisingly hard to eat. I made this tonight, and it's a gentle flavor, good on the upset tummy! One whole roasted chicken from your local grocery deli 3 large carrots (mine equaled out to about 13 ounces) 3 celery stalks 8oz of eating…

To blog or not to blog?
I am tempted to blog daily on here, instead of weekly. I usually use my blog as a place to debreif the week, track progress, and make obsurd comments about things I notice about my journey through weightlossland. I like the once a week experience because then I don't appear to be an obsessive blogger. But sometimes it's…

Chicken in a foil packet
I'm making non-boring chicken tonight, and I wanted to roast it in a foil packet with some flavorful veggies. I have some questions though! How long do I cook it and at what temperature? Should I poke holes in the packet to avoid soggie veggies? Any good veggie suggestions? Any info will help

Weighted Balloon
Every time I gain weight, it's as though I just balloon up. I don't gain it in one particular area, all areas just get bigger. This is my third attempt at MFP. First time, I made it five weeks. Second time, I made it four months. This time, I'm going for gold! After losing almost 20 pounds last year, I've gained it all…

Discouraged
When I finally hit a healthy BMI, I told myself I was going to drop my goal per week to 1lb. Which I did, and felt pretty good about getting 200 cals more a day! But since then, I've gained 2 pounds! I have no idea how! The first week, I knew I probably gained because I was working at a summer camp and every idea of…

Does anyone ever SAY anything?
Okay, I'm not looking for a trophey, or a gold medal, or anything, but does anyone ever SAY anything? I've lost almost 19 pounds, which is 10% of my body weight. 10%!! And no one has said anything. Not even "You look nice." I know I'm not losing weight to get noticed, or for other people's benefit, but it would be nice to…

Anyone Have a Non-Banana Smoothie Recipe?
I'm allergic to bananas, and a LOT of smoothies have bananas in them. Does anyone have a smoothie recipe staple in their mix that doesn't involve bananas? Thanks

Not Just About the Scale
This actually happened to me Wendesday, but I'm posting today! I've been on MFP for six weeks now (this is my second go around), and have lost 8 pounds. I have been slightly discouraged from time to time - two weeks ago I didn't lose anything, and last week I only lost a pound - BUT I remembered it wasn't always about what…

Dreyer's Yogurt Blends
Has anyone else tried the Dreyer's Slow Churned Yogurt Blend? EIPIC!! I got the Chocolate Brownie one. OH. MY. GOD! It's amazing! 120 cals for 1/2 cup, 3.5g fat, 40mg of sodium, 19 carbs. Not too shabby and tastes EXACTLY like ice cream!

Shout out to Multigrain!

HOLY COW!!
I stepped on my scale this morning expecting to see a loss of two, but hoping for three. It was a loss of FOUR! Four pounds in one week! I think actually I lost more than a pound last week, but the scale begged to differ. But my hard work showed up this week!

Attack of the Sodium!!
I can't seem to hit my target of sodium. I'm always over, either by 100mg or 1000mg! I can't seem to get away from it. I've lost weight, even though I've gone over, but I'm worried about maybe the long term effects of a sodium overload. Also, how much is too much sodium? Is 100mg an "okay" amount to go over?

SUPER Easy Taco Salad
I like food that's made quickly, so I was extremely excited to stumble upon this taco salad recipe. It took me all of 20 minutes to make, and since I'm only one person, it gave me lunch for the next two days! Super Easy Taco Salad (Makes 3 Servings): Ingredients: 3/4 Jar (I think mine was 12 oz so...9oz) of Salsa (however…

Bad Feet
Okay, so I have bad feet. They're pretty flat and I have bunyons (an inflamation of my big toe joint due to the awkward way I apparently roll my feet when I walk). Anyway, these suckers have been doing pretty well on my walks (I'm working my way up to jogging), but recently are crapping out on me! Mostly it's my bunyons…

Alternative to turkey bacon?!
I'm going to just come out and say it - I hate turkey bacon. The smell lingers in my kitchen for WAY too long, and it isn't very satisfying. Regular bacon is my vice (and I'm talking thick, meaty, fatty, farm grown slices  ), so is there anyone out there that knows a good...compromise?
