Changing or adding a serving size?
Does anyone know if I can add a different serving size to a food that is alreay in the database? I had the green giant rice pilaf for lunch but I didn't have the entire package. They have a serving for 1/2 cup and that is what I had. I don't want to make a duplicate entry, I would just like to adjust the serving size.

Swerve
I was surfing the net on my lunch break today and looking for low carb options on desserts due to my diabetes. I came across a site that had lots of receipes and but the woman used Swerve as a sweetner. I was wondering if any has tried it and whether they like it or not. I was able to order a sample pack (3 packets for…

Bug bites and minor wounds
Ever since I have been diagnosed, I have noticed that little bug bites take forever to go away and continue to itch like crazy for a very long time and take a while to heal. I have also notice that very minor wounds take awhile to heal too. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just weird.

Stevia Plant
Being diabetic and a chocolate/cake/cookie/candy (you get the idea) lover is a difficult combination. I have been looking into a making my own sweetner from the stevia plant. Has anyone tried this? If so, what were your results? My husband and I are gardeners/farmers during the summer so buying a plant for $1.78 and…

So I think I might have a problem
A few weeks ago I went to the podiatrist because I was having issue with one of my toes. He basically looked at it and said he didn't know what was going on but didn't think it was a big deal. For the past week or so, my toe has gotten worse. It is very sore, angry, red and puffy. Last night it broke open. It didn't bleed…

Not so great check up
So I had a 6 month check up and it didn't go as I had hoped. My A1C is 6.3, my fasting blood sugar was 132, cholesterol was 232, HDL 67, Triglycerides 55 and my LDL 154. My liver and kidney functions are normal. My doctor said that I should continue with my diet and exercise program and see him in 6 months. No changes at…

Weird event last night
Last night my husband and I were out for our anniversary. We were walking around a local town for their fall festival for a few hours. We stopped at a little restaurant for a small bite and a drink. I had a pumpkin martini but I only had one and we shared some soup and an appetizer. After our break we walked around some…

Not sure what to do now.
So I have been at this eating more losing weight thing for over 12 weeks and it's not working like I had hoped. I haven't lost any weight nor have I lost any inches. I am maintaining my weight and inches. I am not at a total loss as to what I should be doing. Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas?

Am I doing something wrong?
I reconfigured my diet about 6 weeks and have been eating more. I try to average about 1729 calories a day. In the past 6 weeks I noticed that I am little tighter but I haven't lost any inches or any weight. I am doing something wrong? My diary is open and for the most part I am consistent in logging. Here are my numbers -…

Should I be consulting with an endo?
Hey everyone, I wanted to get some advice because I am a little unsure of how I should handle this. I am currently only seeing my primary phyiscian for my diabetes care. He has never recommended I see an endocrinologist. When I attended my diabetes classes, the nutritionist asked me what type of medication I was taking and…

Old Coffee
Don't you just hate it when you get coffee out and it has been sitting in the pot that really tastes gross. I am not a strong coffee drinker so today when I got my coffee from starbucks and it was still dark after the barista put it in my cup with my creamer I knew I was in trouble. Now I am drinking strong bitter coffee.…

Can I be successful with heavy lifting?
I have been reading a lot of posts/topics about eating more (which I have started doing) and heavy lifting as a way to build muscle and lose inches. I want to do more research and see if this will work for me. I have 2 issues that I am not sure will hinder my progress so I am looking for some help. #1. I am newly diagnosed…

Unrealistic goals?
I have trying to figure things out and I am not sure I am going about it the right way. My goal is to get my A1c down from 9 to the levels of a non diabetic through diet and exercise. I have been very diligent in watching what I eat and I have been exercising too. I had a 6 week check up with my doctor where we talked…

6 Week follow up from 1st diagnosis
I had a 6 week check up with my PC this morning since being diagnosed. My appointment went really well. My blood pressure is normal and according to his scale I have lost 9lbs. (according to my scale, it's more like 12lbs!) We talked about my testing numbers and because for the most part I can keep them in the very low…

Diabetes classes
It has been a month since I have been diagnosed and I start my first educational class tonight. Are there any questions I should be asking? I do have a a few but not many. Or is this something I should go and listen to then ask questions as they pertain to the class?

As a diabetic, what do you track in your diary?
I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes but I have not started my classes yet. I will start them at the beginning of April. I have been doing some research on things I need to keep track of of but MFP does allow me to track everything I want to track. So as a I diabetic, what are you tracking? Carbs? Sugars? Fiber?…

MFP Runners Club 5/28
Good morning runners. I did 4 miles this morning at the track around the park. I thought it was going to be an ugly 3 miles but after first horrible one my shin felt better and I decided to keep going and ended up doing 4. It was overcast and a little drizzly but nice running weather. Hope everyone has a great…

MFP Runners Club 5/4
Ok so I didnt get to run the Broad Street 10 miler yesterday and I was kinda bummed about it. When I told my husband I was upset about not being able to run, he laughed and said "You're upset about not being able to run 10 miles? Where the heck is my wife?" What can I say. I did go down and cheer my fellow runners on…

MFP Runners Club 4/9
Howdy all you runners out there. Did a very slow 3 miles today. (50 minutes) I ran with the slowest person in our group to keep her company since I am injured. Tried to push her along and do a little more but some people already think they are pushing themselves. Oh well, I can only be a motivator to a degree. No more…

Do you need a pair of running shoes?
Hey all you runners out there. I have deal for you! I recently bought a pair fo Nike Air Max Moto+6. These shoes have no stability and are just straight cushion. I need to goback to the shoes with stability because the new ones make my shin splints worse. So here is the deal I have. I bought these shoes for $95.00 + tax…

Good Morning Runners. I did an easy 3.5 miles today. I ran with the usual running group but none of my counterparts were there to run with me so I adopted someone who needed help. I let her set the pace and ran with her and then at the end I forced her to pick up the pace a little more to get her out the her comfort zone…

MFP Runners Club 3/19
Come on out and run today. It was a really nice morning and good temps for running. 41 at 5:00 am. Ran 6 miles before 6:00. I can't say that it was good but it wasn't bad either. I hit a good pace around mile 4 where my breathing and my stride all came together. I am not sure what the pace was but I thought it would be a…

Can someone check my numbers please
Yesterday I had a fitness analysis done at the YMCA. While I know these #s are not exact I would like to rely on them somewhat to see if I can get over my 9 month plateau. (Yes I have not lost any weight since May 2008). Ok so here goes. My fit analisys calculated my bmr at 1432. So if I use 1432 x 1.2(Harris-Benedict…

MFP Runners Club 3/12
Wake up everyone and get out and run. :smokin: I ran today for the first time in almost a month. It was a little under 3.5 miles and it was rough. I can tell I lost some time since I haven't run in awhile. Just know I wasn't slacking off, I have been sick with an upper respitory infection and various colds and sinus…

Is it burnout or something else?
For the past couple of months I have really been feeling unmotivated. I do a bootcamp class on M-W-F at 5:30 am. I don't want to leave my bed at all but I do get up and go. I don't feel like motivating anyone and dread having to motivate others. I also run on T-TH-S-S. I am not motivated to do that either. Yesterday was…
