To everyone who participated. Whether you stayed on the whole time, or cut back, or at least made an attempt...I hope it help make you aware that there are other healthy alternatives to unwinding the day or that you don't have to always drink to have fun with friends and loved ones. Not saying to not enjoy an occasional…

Lent Encouragement/Scripture
Thought I would add a few verses about being sober and of sober mind :) Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of…

Mocktails
Feel free to post alternatives to alcohol beverages! My favorite go to drink when I'm out at a bar when I'm not drinking is cranberry juice with Sprite and a twist of lime. Nobody asks why I'm not drinking :) Fre alcohol removed wine is also nice to have with nice meals when you are looking for something dry to compliment…

Catholic or not, giving up alcohol for Lent
With Mardi Gras weekend coming up, it got me thinking of the original point behind Mardi Gras and those who are Catholic will give up something for Lent starting the following day of Fat Tuesday. Alcohol adds in so many extra calories, not to mention the things we eat under the influence, but also to help us perhaps find…

Destress alternatives
Trying new ways to unwind at the end of the day. For myself, I find a short 20 minute walk can clear the head out. Yoga works too. Hot tub. Reading. Listening to relaxing music and not doing anything but listening. Herbal teas.

Week 1 March 5th-11th
First week will probably be the hardest, getting out of old habits. How are you doing?

Remember December
Congrats on everyone who got through or at least cut back for Sober October challenge. Anyone up for trying to cut out or back on alcoholic beverages for December (Maybe starting with Thanksgiving through NYE? Americans tend to gain most of their weight during the holidays and spend the next year trying to lose it. Alcohol…

Congrats!
For those of you on the 30 day challenge, get through today and you have it made! Great job for those who stuck through it :) I hope the challenge brought about awareness of our alcohol intake, and that we have found alternatives and ways to cut down or out the negative calories in our lives. Perhaps for some the negative…

Week 4
Home stretch! Sadly the group dwindled, however I kinda expected it. Giving up alcohol is not easy, and many don't want to admit that they might need it more in their lives than just a casual treat. I've watched too many friends and family members struggle. ""We sell our dreams and our potential To escape through that…

Week 3
How is everyone doing? Make it through the weekend and Octoberfests? I've been festive with apple ciders sparklers, but admit I miss a good amber beer. I think O'douls has an amber that I may pick up for watching the baseball games. I have a migraine from hell this morning, not from a hangover, probably more weather…

Week 2
So, how did you do with the first 7 days? Make it through the weekend? I went to a bonfire on Saturday and had grape spritzers (it was a white trash party, so instead of having Purple Passion, I picked up some juice to mix with seltzer to cut down calories and sweetness) and it was actually nice to be fully engaged with…

Sober for October?
Anyone in for doing a challenge for 25-30days of not drinking any alcohol beverages? I say 25 cause I know Halloween weekend one might want to have a few spirits of their own to enjoy. If there is interest, I can set up a group and get things rolling. This is not an I am an alcoholic group, however if you are, maybe this…

Destress
Instead of drinking to relieve stress, I will (fill in the blank): Do yoga Go for a walk Sit quietly on the deck with a spritzer with a splash of fruit juice

Red or White wine?
I have found for special occasion dinners if I'm skipping wine, I will try organic grape juice for red, or white peach juice for whites. I mix it in with seltzer water, so it cuts the calories and sweetness and so far seems to pair well with dishes. Cheers!

Ready Set...
10 days till the challenge starts, so drink up! Gives you plenty of time to get ready in the mind for it, planning healthier alternatives for socializing and I guess for some of you, to wean off the booze :) Drinking at social events seem to be the diet killer for me, so many extra calories, food boundaries go down, not to…

Just how many calories was that?
Sobering reality chart: http://www.barnonedrinks.com/tips/reference/calorie_counter.html That's per ounce, without mixers added in! Or the poor food choices that often go in hand with drinking. Or if you over indulge, the lack of activity the next day (maybe days for those of us older who don't bounce back like we used to!…

Hang in there!
Ok weekend warriors, this is the hardest part to get through (at least it is for me with friends and family) But we can do it! Stuck to my usual green smoothie for breakfast and had a veggie stir fry for lunch. I put off my weights yesterday for the evening and gosh darn it, lost the mojo, so will be hitting that today!…

Wk4 Apr3-10 The Final Stretch Plan
What's your game plan for the last week? I went through my calculators and decided to cut back to 20%TDEE(was 15%), cut even the small amount of sugar/honey I added to my teas, set my daily sodium lower and plan to shoot for 400-500calorie burns for 6 days in this upcoming week. 2lbs is alot, esp for someone who has less…

What's your plan today?
Figured I'd start a topic to check in daily with each other about our plans for the day for workouts. Today here, it's going to be beautiful 75 (I know my Florida friends are complaining that's cold, lol!) and I'm going to get in a walk, rented out a wii dance game to take over to my mom's and probably spend more calories…

Breakfast: Apple, Blueberry, Banana, and Kale smoothie with coconut water and flax seed. Lunch: Spinach salad with balsamic vinegar. Hard boiled egg. Dinner: Eating light…

CPM Knee Machines
Worth renting out for after an Patellar ACL reconstruction or not? Seems the common thing I hear from folks who have had this time of surgery is the complaint of not being able to bend the knee more than 90 degrees, however I have heard if you start on this machine within days of surgery for 2-4weeks and highly recommended…

ACL Graft Choices
I am going to have to get my ACL reconstructed, along with a few other things for a knee injury, and I have a couple of different options to go for. Just curious of those who have had this procedure, which did you choose, why and how has it been working out for you/pros cons. Mainly I'm down to Patellar graft and…

I'm seeing more exercise logs, mainly those in the UK, about this program. Have yet to see anything about it in the States. Anyone try this?
