Thought I'd say a quick hello here. I've been know to "push my pedals" a bit here and there, and noticed a group of fellow enthusiasts talking about 'bikes'.

I'm both a commuter and a competitive cyclist, so I can speak both languages ;) . Currently I am looking for a in-house massage therapist who can get the lactic acid out of my legs from riding too much this week (if there is such a thing). :D

Happy riding, and I look forward to chatting with some of you on the cycling related topics.

Second time I had to fix a flat tire in the rear this month so far! Last Friday it was a real puncture; and aparently the new inner tube I put in had a leaky valve, so I had to exchange it again today :/

Between fixing my bike, I also did a little bit of riding, but mostly commutes or short trips. Hopefully I'll manage to get up early enough tomorrow morning to beat the heat and get a bit more cycling in before the temperatures get too horrible!

    2.7.17 - 30.2km Sunday ride
    4.7.17 - 36.4km commute + evening ride
    6.7.17 - 28.5km commute + ride to pub
    7.7.17 - 13.1km commute
    --
    108.3km (of 250km goal)

Commuted to work again today, so another 13.2 miles.

It really should be against the rules for the wind to shift in the middle of the day so that I have a headwind going both directions!

Managed to get out today but the heat was killer.

3 hours and 12 miles of trails with some hike a bike on some harder stuff

It's going to be in the upper 90s here all week again so I doubt I'll be able to get out until next weekend.

Late joiner, I didn't see this at the start of the month when I was looking for something to inspire me.

I try to hit the trails on my mountain bike most weekends. Some weekends I might do 3km, others it might be 20 and sometimes life just gets in the way of my ride.

I'm ramping up my road miles to improve my overall endurance so I can handle longer mountain bike rides. My long term goal is a mountain bike half marathon next year.

My goal for July is 400km (mostly road). Last week was a slow start, but I've sorted out most of the things could get in the way of regular commuting so I'm optimistic I can still hit my target.

    Target - 400km

    July 4 - 34.1km road
    July 8 - 12.7 km trail

    Total - 43.8

Best bike has gone in for servicing and repair.
Started creaking and at first thought it was my wonky knee! Then hoped it was my saddle but sadly it's the bottom bracket. New cassette and chain also required.

Just as well I have a spare (you can't have too many bikes after all....) as this weekend was warm but humid.
40 miler and 60 miler done but really hard to drink enough.
Bit of running around on my hybrid too, forgotten was a nice ride a hybrid is in an urban environment.

@sijomial I hope you get your bike soon. Nice that you have enough replacement bikes ready and waiting! I just have a "trekking" bike in addition to my road bike, and I don't like riding it AT ALL. Maybe I need to buy another bike?

    ---

Monday I rode to work in the rain and noticed the rear brakes were squeaking, so I did a bit of online reading and managed to centre them better. Pretty proud of myself - both for fixing the brakes and taking the bike to work despite the rain in the first place

    2.7.17 - 30.2km Sunday ride
    4.7.17 - 36.4km commute + evening ride
    6.7.17 - 28.5km commute + ride to pub
    7.7.17 - 13.1km commute
    8.7.17 - 46.7km Saturday ride (with 1200 m elevation B) )
    10.7.17 - 11.1km commute
    11.7.17 - 18.5km commute

When my bike got smashed by an idiot car driver I negotiated a like for like replacement - then later ended up repairing the broken one (now known as "Lazarus") with some fast wheels and new forks.

I'm cycling with a very good rider at the weekend and really need my fastest bike, she normally hands my *kitten* to me on a plate on every climb so hopefully I can catch up on the way down.... ;)

You always need to buy at least one more bike!

Rode to work Wednesday, so another 13.2 miles. It's really a nice morning commute--I leave at 4:30 and ride across a (mostly) still sleeping college town. The air is cool and still and everything is sooo quiet.
