I'M IN!!!!! So where do we all go from here?0

I'm 49 and have been lifting since 1987. I maintain 10% BF and would like to hear ideas, comments and thoughts from similar minded and motivated people.
I don't call myself a bodybuilder (has a mixed tone here in Germany). I prefer the simpler weight lifter.0 -

I'm interested. I am 43 and have lost 92 pounds since July 2011. I have lifted weights in the past and had great results. Illness and two surgeries since Sept. 2013 have left me a bit giggly where I don't want to be. I have never weight trained to the extent that I need to and now that I'm getting older I see that it could greatly benefit me.0

I'm in…I'm 45 and have been working w free weights for 3 years 2-3x/week to complement my running. Training for my first 1/2 in July. I don't usually participate in the message boards much, but am looking for a supportive, less "dramatic" environment.0

I'm 61 and female, but think consistent weight-training has kept my muscle mass although I agree with the chance of injury increasing with age. I also deal with osteoarthritis in my thumbs and shoulders which means changing how I do weight training, but not necessarily decreasing the amount of weight.
If that pic is you, I am very impressed. I am interested in this group too. 52 and trying to ease my way into it again after many years away.0 -
This is SO true. Once I am done with my grad degree in June I'm going to take up Yoga again. It makes a world of difference.I was having trouble with powerlifting. I'm 48. I started practicing yoga, and OMG, the difference was immediate. It's unbelievable. For anyone in my age range that is lifting heavy, you should seriously try yoga a few days a week, I have more power and energy in the gym, and I've become more aware of my body too. Yoga makes you think about your body and how it's moving etc. it's been a life changer for me. I've only been doing it for maybe 3 weeks and it's been amazing. As I said, the results were immediate, not gradual or overtime, but right away in that first week.
I spoke to one of the instructors at the studio I joined, and she said she hears that frequently from athletes.
The reason I looked into yoga is that I was having. A lot of tightness, crazy tightness, around my hips, and I was experiencing some pain in my joints, like wrists, elbows, etc, and it was thinking I needed to either back off the weight, not figure out how to release all this. I'm not 100% yet! but I'm getting there. It really works.
I don't know, sorry for the high jack, I just see a lot of folks my my age range talking about injuries, and it's true that once you injure something, it takes forever to recover. I think, for me, yoga helps with that recovery.0 -
I am 46 , I can maintain what ive had with my size and strength but having a hard time gaining more size and more strength , if I do gain weight its usually fat , so my calories need to be cut back , this would hinder muscle growth as well so I am in a catch 220

I will go back to what I started with , which is a warm up set , then a 1 rep hold of max weight and then a 75% max set to fail , this worked 5 years ago and broke my roof0

I'm 56 and have better definition than I've ever had, since I started lifting in Dec. 2013...it's been less than 3 months, and already I'm seeing great changes in my musculature. I just had to check how long I've been lifting--I thought it was longer--so I'm even more pleased with the progress I've been seeing. Though I don't want to compete, I do want to get a fitness model physique, just for my own satisfaction. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I'm enjoying the journey!0
