Slightly off-topic, but is there any way to get to an author's posts like that, through the menu system? At the moment, I just come back to this thread and c&p/edit one of the existing links.

Logically, I would have thought you could get to it via the user's profile, but I can't see anything that leads there.

Its through the search link, then choose author in the drop down list. Type in author name (I have found it doesn't work if copying and pasting)

Ah OK. Though it does rather raise the question of why you can't get to the user's posts from their profile 0 that's such an obvious/normal BB feature, that I'm amazed it isn't available here - I don't think I've used another forum in the last 10 years where you can't do that

Use to be able to link to a members posts via the forums, the link was where it said Posts under the member name. Members were able to disable the link though and make it available to only friends.

Can't see the point of being able to disable that, if you can reach the same point through another, less convenient, path.

I suppose it's a deterrent to casual stalkers, but seems a pretty weak barrier

We gained some features but lost a few as well with the October 2014 forum software update. I just always assumed removing that feature was unintentional, but based on you guys' comments it may or may not have been

On iPhone I use text replacements, which help me type most of the link, just not the username. Is there an equivalent feature on your device? If you're on a computer I might save it in a file or create a bookmark, just so whenever you start to type in the URL it pops up the full link and you could copy it from there

Its because the front end is a completely different software than the forums. That feature used to exist on the old system and i miss it. The mods do have that capability through our dashboard though.

Bizarrely, they don't post in Chit-Chat or Fun&Games - dunno whether they haven't found those boards yet or whether even the spammers shun those boards as too puerile to be worthwhile

Actually, this new guy seems to just be fixated on Introduce Yourself, presumably because it's first on the list. The 119ers have more varied interests, they post all over the place

Without wishing to tempt fate, mind888 seems to have stopped or paused. 119ers still posting but much slower than the other guy

There's a pretty active mind888 right now. An IT friend once told me that the spammers get paid per post, so that's why they are persistent.

Dunno what they gain from it - they post, it's gone within 30-60 seconds. It's not even there long enough to link to. It's in Korean(?) on an English language website, so it's not going to attract any clicks. What's the point?

I always just assumed that since it's a bot, once you write the program all the work is done. I'm not really picturing someone sitting down and doing anything manually?

The new one might be a bot, but I'm not sure - the message formats changed part way through, but that may have been set up ahead of time.

I'm pretty sure the 119ers are people / a person posting the messages. They keep changing the message format to try to beat the anti-spam bot that's deleting them :)

Even if it is a script - what does the person creating/running the script get out of it - there has to be some purpose to it or why bother?

What anti spam bot? It's an advertising link, I imagine they post it on as many sites as they can get on?
