btw I'm on the Tapeworm Diet. It's the only one that works. Period.
Funny! You are right though. Life is short and people should just be happy. However, it saddens me how people on here stress themselves by overeating 100 calories here and there thinking that is what is causing them to hold onto weight when it's more than likely something hormone related (raised cortisol from lack of sleep, stress, etc).
No, what's sad is people blaming their weight on things like lack of sleep, stress, etc, instead of realizing it's all about how much you eat. I'm insulin resistant and am under treatment for severe sleep deprivation - I'm also in treatment for depression and anxiety, AND I have a serious brain condition that just really screws *kitten* up for me (motor skills, balance, speaking, eating, swallowing) - I'm fat not because of any of these, I'm fat because I used to drink 6 Dr. Peppers a day, and 5-6 sweet, sugary cups of coffee a day - those used to be my choices. The other stuff I listed - those are excuses.
It's personal responsibility.

While I agree with your general point about personal responsibility and overeating weight loss and health are not always simple or black and white. As a general rule calories consumed vs calories burned is probably the largest factor. However, our bodies are complicated and different things will affect weight including sleep, stress, types of foods consumed etc. One person may find that lack of sleep or stress does not affect their weight while another is affected by it. Everyone is different.
Thanks for this thoughtful and on target post.
