What diet/healthy food could you not do without?

I'd be interested in finding out what food you really couldn't do without whilst watching your weight/dieting. Might help give me some ideas on what to eat :-)
I think crumpets are good. Only 98 calories and they're practical for lunch.

I'm not in to "good foods" and "bad foods", but there are some go-to's that I always have on hand. I stash Taste of Nature bars cut in half and Premier Protein shakes just in case I am caught without good choices around.
Once, starving in the afternoon at work, I finished off a Costco muffin because that was all that was available at work other than candy bars and chips. What is that sucker, 1,000 calories?
I make home-made Hummus and freeze it in to tablespoon size cups. I spread this on Finn crackers, my favourite cracker right now. I also buy a large block of low-fat old cheddar and pre-cut it in to 30 gm squares, and freeze it. That's one of my milk portions taken care of for the day.
The other milk portion is from greek yogurt cups or cottage cheese cups.
I shop several times a week for fruits and vegetables in season. They are much more palatable when super-fresh. I keep frozen fruit and veggies in the freezer also just in case.
Then there's the dried beans and lentils I keep on hand for those weekends I feel like getting creative. A crock-pot recipe can make up a lot of high-fiber portions pretty quickly, especially when it is just hubby and me.
For meats, I have a bulk bag of cod fillets and chicken breasts in the freezer.0 -
... and I had to go look up what a crumpet was in the first place. lol. Seems like something cool I could try making on the weekend.0
