I'm getting to really like rowing... I'll log 10 sessions by the end of the month I hope!

Good for you. A lot of people don't really give it a shot. The concept2 in my gym just sits there (although I'm glad because it is always available for me to use). I'm going to push a little harder to get it fixed. When I first started, I could barely do 10 minutes. You can do this.

  • If you are new to rowing, I highly recommend this website -- http://indoorsportservices.co.uk/training/guide -- which has lots of tips on learning to row and training. the concept2 website -- http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training -- has three or four really good videos on technique. watch them and you'll avoid developing some painful habits.

    row 12. rowed 5007 m.time 25.19.spm 26. cals burned 275.level 7.
i tried rowing at a slower stroke per minute rate to focus on technique.really helped,as time was still on par with average even at increased resistance.

Bookmarking those! I have a used rowing machine with a broken display so I don't know the meters, but I aim for an hour at least 3 times a week (not all at once--my record there is 42 minutes).

    thanks for the links.

i just used the logbook there ,and notice they have a charity challenge on concept c2 website to row 100k between 27 november and 24 december.c2 will donate 2cents per km rowed.
i have already joined, but seems like a win/ win for everyone.
    thoughts?

Thanks. It has really strengthened my body. First, I take kickboxing classes and I always suffer when it gets to the abdominal exercises. Not any more. Did my V-ups and Russian twists like a champ. In addition, I have always done poorly on a leg press machine. I really amazed myself when I tested my strength yesterday. I don't think I ever pushed twice my body weight.

    row 13. rowed 6010.time 30.30.spm 26.level 8.

after a rest day, then leg session of weights, was tough to get rowing.
find that its better at higher resistance as i work up the levels.

seems we have similar weight loss profiles and goals too,i am hoping that rowing with other training will help me reach them by my assessment date end of year.

Sorry, the 25k was actually two sessions that day - 90 minutes is about all I can take at any one time. I probably should have logged it that way... 90 minutes + 30 minutes.

Thanks! It sounds like you're on the right track... good luck.

I hope you carry the challenge over into December - now that the weather's getting nastier in my neck of the woods, I'm sure there will be more opportunities for rowing! :)

as it happens, the concept c2 charity holiday challenge runs from thursday nov 27th to dec 24 th.
i urge as many to register as possible to raise funds for the selected causes.
concept are donating 2 cents per km rowed for first 100km,then 4 cents for additional kms rowed over that.
i am registered, and will incorporate challenge into decembers thread starting tomorrow!
thanks to all for contributing so far.
