    He doesn't want you to get more attractive and leave him, it's a pretty common reaction. Unless he wants to improve himself also you'll probably end up apart.

    A spouse, absolutely not. That's for life. If I was in a relationship that wasn't that serious yet and I found out we had different fitness goals AND different values about other even more important things, I would break up with them.
