I noticed that I don't notice other people eating. I used to be very cautious of the pace that other people were finishing their meals. I didn't want to be hogging through mine before everyone else.
Now, I eat my own freely and sometimes, in reflection, wonder if they finished theirs. Or, I notice when people are starting to stir because they're finished and I'm just pleasantly munching along.12 -

I lost shoe sizes! I've heard this a few times before but I always thought I didn't have any weight on my feet before losing weight, you could still see the bones in them.
I was out shopping with a friend and tried on my usual size 7, it was a bit tight so I was debating whether or not to get an 8 until my friend pointed out I was actually in size 4's!! It still confuses me so much. I went on to buy size 5's and vary between 5&6 now whereas before the 60lbs went I was between 7&8. My feet don't look any different to me and I almost convinced myself it was weird sizing in that particular store but have experimented elsewhere and it's the same story!
I also didn't realise how restricted I was with how I sat before losing weight. I love that when I sit on my shins the bottom of my feet cup my bum, and sitting crossed legged without looking uncomfortable. Tucking my knees up under my chin is a new experience too!24 -

I'm back after a long hiatus (my mom had brain surgery and nearly died.. it threw me right off the wagon) and here I am. Last time I lost 96 pounds (the pic there is my low weight pic) and I haven't gained it all back but I did gain back over half. At least I'm not starting all over again
Four things:- Being cold all the time -- I had the same thing and discovered that more fat in your diet gets rid of that. You have to adjust the fat-carb ratio to allow more fat less carbs, even if the food's less filling. I couldn't sit in an air-conditioned room in the summer without wearing those insulated underthings for skiing, 2 pairs of pants, a sweater and a hoodie in order to stay warm, and in all those clothes I was only just comfortable outside in the heat. That's just wrong. People without our challenges don't have this, so it says that there's an imbalance in the nutrient ratios required to lose weight or maintain.
- I looked older, but given my age (55) I suppose that's to be expected, turkey neck, wrinkles, sags and all. That said, the advocates of botox can bite me
- When I'm heavier, people say "You look well". I now understand that "You look well" is a gentle way of saying "I can't tell you that you look amazing or beautiful or sexy, so this is the least hurtful alternative". When I lost all that weight, the "You look well" completely stopped. I don't want to look "well". Looking "well" sucks.
- While I was losing the weight, I developed a corn on the bottom of my foot from walking in shoes that were all of a sudden too big for my feet, even with inserts. There's a bone in my foot that isn't quite right, I think. It hits the ground when I walk and that causes problems. It was covered in fat so it didn't actually cause any problems when I was heavier. The corn's gone away now because I stopped walking, but this time, I'm going to talk to an orthopedist about how to correct the issue with that little foot bone before it becomes a problem again.

My cheek bones look amazing and one that scared me was I can feel my heart beat in my stomach. I thought something was wrong but my doctor laughed and said it was normal in smaller people.18

I had a weird one....my feet lost weight.
lol- seriously, my feet slid around in my sandals and my running shoes no longer fit, properly.
Same here, but I noticed it first with my socks. My usual workout socks were way to big, but they were also fairly new (same ones I always purchased) so I knew they weren't stretched out, but all of the sudden they "bunched up" in my shoes! Very odd.7 -
I am so excited to see these comments. I was recently on another weight loss support board and tried to kick off the same thread. I got only one response - which was that they could clean up after restroom use better. Really -- this thread is so much more inspiring and EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks to everyone here!

Also shirts that I havent realized are too big either falling off my shoulders or revealing my arm pit and bra because the gap is sooo big. Umm, not minding getting up to walk my dog, I actually enjoy it now. Having to move my seat up in my car because I was having a hard time reaching the pedals, I still have no idea how that was possible with my ginormous belly (which is still big, but so much smaller than before haha) Finding out that I needed a bigger cup size while needing a smaller around size in my bra...never saw that coming. I cannot wait to update this list when I have some more!

Yes, thank you for starting this thread! I feel like it should be posted every time someone in a thread starts asking for or looking for motivation, because here it is! It is exactly this: all the "little" every day things that are such huge victories. I'm so enjoying everyone's comments.5 -
I don't need an extension for my seatbelt on the plane
I can put the try down on the flight and have it not rest on my belly
I don't have to request a table instead of a booth. I can fit in them now!!

I discovered that I really like clothes. I mean.... REALLY like clothes... My wife gave me the stink eye the other day when yet another box showed up from the UPS truck. There were no words to describe the loathing I had for clothes and shopping at 318lbs. It's a really interesting change.
^THIS. It's been 20 years since I was of a size to appreciate clothes, but MAN am I making up for lost time!

For me, since reaching my goal weight (more or less) I'm ALWAYS cold! I've begun taking a jacket with me everywhere I go and staying away from fans and the A/C vents.1

So, so many!
* My bottom hurts when sitting on a hard seat.
* I am *always* cold!
* I have visible collar bones, cheek bones and hip bones.
* I had to have my rings resized
* I am so much more adventurous - mainly because I'm no longer afraid someone will tell me I'm too fat to safely try something!
* I actually enjoy going to the doctor for my annual physical and seeing the number on the scale. (and then my doctor and I both do the "happy dance")
* I have so much more self-confidence
* I'm more outgoing
* I do have way more loose skin than I ever imagined though. Ick, but I'll take the loose skin rather than the extra weight any day
* I had serious acne problems that were caused by the drastic reduction of body fat screwing with my hormones (my doctor fixed that problem for me though)
* Mammograms are so much easier and my doctor can read them easier!
* I no longer snore
* I sleep so much better
* I can't remember the list time I had heart burn

That's a major goal of mine, to just eat with my friends instead of being focused on comparing my food to theirs and wondering if everyone is thinking about how much I'm eating.

I'm in for the knees touching. I find it annoying sometimes because I'm used to squishy pads of fatness between my knees. Not complaining though.
I keep finding myself reaching for my old shoe size. I've had the same shoe size since junior high and now I'm a full shoe size smaller. THAT hasn't sunk in yet.
Wandering away from the plus size section of the store is weird because I still have a lot to lose but plus sizes are quite baggy on me.
The biggest is random people at work taking note and saying things like, "It's time to donate that sweater or those pants." I was in the cafeteria yesterday and a lady asked me if I'd be willing to donate my cardigan to her because she knows I'll move right out of it.14 -
I'm 53 and I was hit on by a couple of 20 something girls on the beach last summer. I was a deer caught in the headlights and kind of embarrassed at the time. What did I do? nothing, i was too stunned (and married)25

I still have a long ways to go on the weight loss but do have a few to add!
- Not having to worry about walking between tight tables in a restaurant for fear of bumping/getting caught on people/items.
- Not having to worry about fitting into chairs with arms.
- Including MOVIE SEATS!
- Seat-belts fitting with lots of room to spare
- 6 yr old rings fitting me again!
- Struggling less with physical movements10 -
My arms swing up and back, not side to side, when I walk; I use less soap and less lotion at shower-time and it takes less time to do it all (every second counts and is counted in my life); and - lol - I buy a different size undies - and cute ones! It didn't even occur to me that there were different sizes of undies ...10

with a loss of only 20 pounds:
-I get cold more easily
-I can now reach the middle of my back
-I can easily maneuver between the toilet and the stall door in public restrooms.
-I can breathe and tie my shoes at the same time
-I can climb stairs without getting winded
-I'm a lot stronger than I thought and stronger than I look.
Lifting weights will result more in a loss of inches rather than pounds.10 -

I am loving this thread. So much good stuff. For me, it's the re-emergence of a defined chin, wrist bones, and collarbones. And now even a hip bone is flirting with me. It's having to make myself *know* that I am a size 10, and that somehow something that is size "M" will actually fit. It's only getting better and better. Congrats to all who are posting here, assuming that they are all good things being reported.9

After losing 100 pounds I still don't recognize myself sometimes. One big change I recently noticed is similar to others here, I seem to have gone from seeing myself as smaller than I am to seeing myself as bigger than I am. It's a strange feeling to sometimes feel larger at 185 than I did at 285. The brain is a strange thing or maybe I just indulged in a few too many recreational substances in my past.14

The last time I got on a plane I instinctively loosened the seat belt as far as it would go to buckle it then sat there confused for a minute when I had to tighten it up. They used to cut into my stomach. That was an awesome feeling. I can remember that like i'm still there now.15
