In my quest to find the ultimate Heart Palpitating Scariest Movie ever.
They aren't really scary.
Thus far I have been thoroughly enjoying the search.
The Story Lines are great and the Actors are great, but Im not hiding under a blanket afraid of the next scene.

I like Texas Chainsaw but was unimpressed with the fright factor.
Im watching Sinister right now. Um its kinda boring.
I have The Collector for tonight as well.

Should I switch teams and go for the Gore instead of Fright?

HALP..Me find a Crap My Pants Scary Movie. :drinker:

    The Ring Is more Fright.
What is The Skeleton Key? Gore/Fright?

Back when they came out, The Ring and The Grudge had me on the edge of my seat. Most horror these days really aren't about trying to scare the audience with creepy story lines and suspense but seem to strive more to upping the gross factor. "Horror" like the Texas Chainsaw movies, the Saw movies and Hostel are more torture porn than horror imho.

IMO, The Skeleton Key was super predictable and not really scary. More psych thriller than anything. And not gory.

As controversial as it is to horror buffs, I really like Paranormal Activity, just the first one. It was one of the only movies to make me actually jump and/or scream. But then the rest were predictable. Quarantine was a good mix of gore and fright, as far as new movies go.

Oh don't you make those lovey eyes at me. Ok, do. But I'll leave the torture porn for my husband and others that enjoy it.

You could try some popular Asian horror; they gravitate more towards atmosphere than gore. It's why we made American versions of The Grudge and The Ring but the originals are better; aside from Ringu's convoluted backstory anyway. The original version of Quarantimne wasn't bad, it's called REC. Although not so much scary as...wtf is going on? But if you've seen the remake, don't bother; the stories are pretty much identical.

If you haven't seen Grave Encounters, check out a trailer on youtube. It falls under the "found footage" genre but isn't to bad for being low budget. Just make sure you can stream it for free or relatively low cost. I think most of the bad reviews are from people who paid a lot to see a low budget movie.

This, plus The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It wasn't jump out of your seat scary, but I believe that those types of things can happen, so anything that has to do with possessions/demons/spirits freaks me the **** out. lol

Agreed EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE was pretty f'n creepy.

I'm not much in to torture porn either. Meh. Buckets o blood don't do it for me unless they were in Carrie. :-)

Ow! So how low budget are we talking?
That can be a movie turn off, imo.

    That's why Im not afraid.

Im truly sick of dreaming about puppies and men tho. This is why I started the Scary Movie search. :ohwell:

It's tolerable, check out a trailer on youtube when you have the chance.

And it's my pleasure to serve; I get to see the world on the government's dime. Currently stuck seeing nothing but the middle east right now but it's tolerable. Although the lack of good beer blows.

Try the Possession of David O'Reilly. I am a horror buff and usually nothing scares me, but for some reason it scared the heck out of me, at least at certain parts.

If it is a newer TV you should be able to use the VGA cord unless your video card is HDMI ready.
    Do you have a Wii?

Haha, I guess that's a good thing. But I stress that the problem is "good" beer. We're allowed three drinks a day here but the choices are very limited. Best thing they have is Frankziskaner or Leffe; I need a good IPA.

I believe the guy told me I had to purchase this cable separately.
Will this cable hook up from my Notebook to the TV?
