So basically guys need to get their sh_t together- lol....-.0

I take everything said on any national news with great skepticism. News isn't news..it is propaganda...this goes for every single news agency out there. Nothing is objectively reported on anymore, it is all "opinion" generating.
People run the world...does it really matter if those people are men or women? The field is the most equal as it has ever been. And it gets more and more that way each day (at least everything I've seen in my life)....0 -
So this world is going to sh-t........0

modern feminism is something completely different from what it was 40 years ago and is a large contributor to many gender related issues.0

just comment to say that my husband just informed me as he was taking his women's studies midterm that women didn't burn their bras as much as the media said they did in the 70s. whaaaat
Who would want to... nothing says "I hate men" like having chaffed nipples.0 -
Silly girl. Your opinion is irrelevant. Leave the thinking to us men ok?
*Ducks and runs out of thread*

I like lime. Tastes good in my Bloody Caesar. But I prefer to use a knife.0 -
So, my 18-year-old neighbor was over at the house playing video games with my boyfriend while I was out one day. While I was gone, he washed the dishes.
Then, he mentioned to me that he washed the dishes while the neighbor was here, and he said that the neighbor said, "Whaaaat? Your girl doesn't wash the dishes?"
To which BF replied, "Well, she does, but I live here too, plus I'm not working right now, so I mean, I do it too..."
Then, neighbor-boy said, "F--- that. My mom washes all of the dishes at our house. That's a girl's job."
My oh my. I wonder what would make that boy feel that way? My BF is currently out of work. I work full-time and go to school full-time as well. I still do the majority of the housework because he sometimes waits longer to do it than I would (can't stand dirty dishes in the sink, etc.) and because I don't really mind, but I think that it's ridiculous that this young man was so astonished about him washing one measly little load of dishes. My goodness. Like it would kill him to get his hands soapy since he's a man.0 -
I don't often post and then only about weight loss issues. Recent comments, by people in the media that women working (and making more than their spouse) is the cause of the disintegration of marriage and family in America, just pissed me off. In the 70's, I burned my bra and protested for women's rights. Now I wonder why I bothered. I served in the military when it wasn't done. I worked my way through school to get a career. I had 4 children, none of whom ever saw one day of daycare, (please, this is NOT to disparage anyone who needs this service). They are all adult productive members of society now. I have been married to the same man for 43 years. How does any of this destroy the fabric of marriage & family in America? Why do we tolerate ignorant people like this that want women back in the dark ages? Sorry, just had to rant on this one.
I agree completely. The only thing stupider is the idea that gay marriage will destroy traditional marriage.0 -
I haven't read the stories, but do they say specifically that men initiate the divorce because they hate that their wives are more intelligent/hardworking/rich than they are? It could easily be a woman who works her butt off to support a lazy husband, then divorces him because she's in a horrible marriage. Again, I haven't read the stories, but it looks like just a statistic without much reasoning behind it. It may not be what you are reading on the surface.0

I think it's absolutely true that women working and earning a living wage has raised the divorce rate. But it's only because women have a choice now. Back in the "good old days" when a woman was completely dependent on her husband for money, she often had to put up and shut up. Now she doesn't have to.
As for women out-earning their husbands and it being a direct cause of divorce...I don't know if that's a real problem or a made-up one. The implication is that men can't handle the emasculation and are leaving their marriages, but 2/3 of all divorces are initiated by women. Among college-educated couples, it's as high as 90% initiated by women. In my own experience out-earning my live-in boyfriends, they were fine with me making more money and paying more of the bills, but they still expected me to do all the "women's work" too so I had to let them go. Maybe they wanted me to be their domestic servant as a way to make up for the monetary emasculation...? Nah, I think they were just selfish and lazy, wanting to pick and choose their women's liberation views to mean whatever would best serve them.0 -

Nah, these men are just jumping on the Divorce Money Train. "I want half" has worked for years for women, men are just following suit.0 -

Fears are being expressed by scientists conducting trials of the new "female viagra," Lybrido, a pill about the size of an aspirin designed to boost female libido, that it could turn women into nymphomaniacs and threaten the "fabric" of stable society.
With the worldwide sales of Viagra now in billions of dollars, scientists have long been anxious to further expand the market by introducing a version for women.
But with some experts warning that the drug could unleash an army of sex hungry women on mankind, researchers are considering lowering the potency of the drug.

I try not to take a lot of the news seriously anymore. I am the sole breadwinner for my family and my husband stayed home and raised our son who is now a healthy happy college Junior. We have been happily married for over 21 years and are still going strong. I think a lot of this news is just skewed to get a reaction from people.0

We;;. most "studies" promoted by ideologues are crap, taken out of context to suit the ideological agenda, or simply fabricated.
Then again, if it is true that women working does increase divorce or marriage dissolution, then it doesn't necessarily have to have an ideological agenda behind it. Science isn't kind to ideologies, religion, cultural practices, or beliefs.0 -

Oh lord, if there's anything that frightens traditionally conservative men more than women who don't need them, it's female sexuality. This is the same mentality that "circumcises" women in Africa so they can't have orgasms.0 -
From what I understand, men still have the need (for pride's sake) to be the family breadwinner...I think the only issue is pride, which is silly reasoning, but it's still there.
And I'm completely fine with the concept of being a "house husband". Unfortunately, the reality is that many of us knuckle-draggers have no choice but to be the primary bread-winner. That's called life, not something to berated us for.0 -
So it's CNN and not FOX. Not surprised.
I honestly don't give a crap what the idiots in the media say. They're the most prejudice, knee jerking hipster doofusses out there. Why people let the media sway them (especially politically) is beyond me.

I think any man, despite his ideology would fear women not needing them, being dependent and needing are two different things. Men would celebrate women's independence, then the women can fight the wars, shovel the coal, and not receive any alimony. "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.".0 -

I was just commenting on how much crap is on all of the "news" stations. After MSNBC edited the Zimmerman 911 call, or the Romney footage of his amazement over touch screens or their editing of the Sandy Hook heckler...well, I wouldn't get my news from them. All of the mainstream news is self serving, filled with crap "journalism".0 -

I honestly think men are afraid of their wife making more than them. I know my husband would be. A few years back we had some problems in our marriage and saw a marriage counselor. After talking to both of us individually, he basically told my husband that if I had to, I could raise the children on my own. On the other hand, he (husband) couldn't. He told him that either my husband step up and help me with the kids and house, or he would end up loosing everything. It worked for a while but I still have to get mad before he helps me (especially with the kids). I will be working for the school district coming this fall and I honestly think my husband is a little nervous about me making a better income than before. It's still not as much as his but it will be at least $2.50 more an hour than I was before.
Do I think women should make as much as men? Absolutely. Why should a man get paid more than a women for the same job done? Do I think women should put work before their family? No. BUT NEITHER SHOULD MEN!!!!. My mother was a stay at home mom. Not because she had to be,but because she wanted to be so that she could be home when we were (there were 6 of us kids). My dad worked very hard as a professor at the university. There were times he would bring his work home but for the most part, he left it there. When he did bring it home, he would let us help him correct papers. We actually looked forward to that. The only time I remember that we couldn't bother him was when he was working on his dissertation. I guess we were kind of spoiled to have both parents there when we needed them. We still are
I don't necessarily "have" to work, but I like to have a little extra each month so that my kids can participate in extra curricular activities and so that we can go and do fun things as a family. I also like my children to be able to earn their pocket money by doing chores around the house and outside. I have worked a minimum wage job to do that but it was at a daycare so my children could go with me and I still got to spend time with them. Now that they are all going to be in school full time in the fall I decided to quit my job and spend the summer with them and then work for the school system so I could still be with them when they are out of school. To me, family is the most important thing.0 -

Well, since you still won't be making as much as him, why exactly do you think he would be nervous about you making more money than you are now? Is it because he's afraid you might make more demands on him since you're bringing more money into the household?
And maybe this is the crux of the problem altogether. Women who are contributing equally or more to the total income are generally going to expect more out of their partners in terms of household duties, and if they don't get it there's going to be some resentment. And if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.0 -
I think it has less to do with women working/making money than it has to do with people coming home from work tired and shoving their kids in front of a television and letting the boob-tube be the babysitter. That's what's wrong with society. Parents not spending time with kids and letting them learn their "important" life lessons from "Facebook", "Call of Duty", and "Walking Dead".
What happened to actually TALKING to your children?
My mother ALWAYS made more money than my father. Did it affect my life? NO. Dad worked 12 hour days on a two-on, two-off rotation. Did he spend his days off WITH ME? Yes. I was taught to use power tools... golf... weed gardens... play guitar... by a man who said "TV goes off at 10am, stays off till 4".
Stay-at-Home Dads are also an option, you know.... really. Society won't fall apart if it happens, I promise. I'm a well-adjusted adult with a post-secondary education that works for the government. And I spent the majority of my childhood playing with/being raised by DADDY.0
