Do people at your work bring treats on days like today? My work has never done anything for Halloween, but I guess that's a thing, especially in the US and Canada. I'm having another hungry day, so I am sad and happy that there are no treats for me to stuff my face with eat today.
I plan on making up for it at the Halloween party we're going to tonight.0 -

We have a potluck and costume contest, and the social committee does a desk drop of candy too. But my office is definitely big on social stuff like that.
I'm a voluntold member of said committee and am in charge of organizing our holiday season charity stuff (we do a Food Bank volunteer day, a Santas Anonymous gift-wrapping volunteer day, and collect donations for food-and-gift hampers for underprivileged families.) It's all optional but I usually get at least a 1/3 of the office able to volunteer for one or both events and can sponsor 4 families with food and gifts, so it's pretty popular and I like it a lot better than the candy/meal-centered stuff we do.
I also organize a smoothie day in the spring where we get Jugo Juice for everyone but that's just because my boss (the CEO) loves smoothies and if I'm the one to organize it then it happens on a day when she's in the office...
We usually have stuff more or less monthly here - the charity stuff in Nov/Dec, then candy drops on Halloween, Easter, etc., plus some free popcorn days (we have a theatre-style machine), Office Olympics, a couple potlucks, and a BBQ on our roof terrace. Lots of food events, and it's no wonder almost everyone is heavy (~60 people.)0 -

Usually there are a few people who have candy at their desk... but they tend to be the ones who ALWAYS have candy anyway, regardless of the occasion.
Nobody in costume here today. It's been years since anyone has dressed up at work.0 -
No one in my hallway is dressed up today, but I just walked into our member education department and discovered Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Hahaha.0

We had our work party yesterday (a lot of people travel and aren't in the office on Friday.) We had pot luck with a costume and decorating contest. I won a $15 Walmart gift card for my costume and a $10 Starbucks gift card for decorating my boss's cubicle with the spider web.0

We have a small social committee that brings in some candy/chocolates for the staff & customers. This is the first year that they've really allowed/encouraged people to dress up. I didn't dress up, but quite a few people did, to my surprise.0

That is so cool! I loved your costume, and I was going to steal it, but I don't have time to pull it all together. Maybe some other time.0 -
We get all these weird social things because we're technically a non-profit, so salaries aren't really competitive with private sector stuff and so they have to make the work-life balance stuff really appealing. I get paid less than I would elsewhere but I get lots of free food and office parties (and 35-hr weeks with flex time, generous vacation and overtime and unlimited sick time, and great health & wellness benefits.)
Sometimes it occurs to me that I have given up actual money for free coconut-oil popcorn, but honestly, it's really great to not have my work take over my life (as in I still get to have a life outside the office.)0 -

Our Halloween party was yesterday. There was beer and wine.
This place has a lot of events, and a lot of them involve food. Blessing and a curse.0 -

I printed out the logos on regular paper (at work- shhhhh!) and used a glue stick to attach them to the black t-shirt. I've had the wings since my daughter was in Middle School.spacequiztime wrote: »We had our work party yesterday (a lot of people travel and aren't in the office on Friday.) Thanks to all the compliments on my cake and costume!

People at my work randomly bring in food, there is just more of it if there is an actual reason.
Sometimes things are organized, but usually not.

Today was our United Way picnic. BBQ, as usual. And flag football.0 -

Sounds good to me (well accept for the candy corn)
Tonight for dinner I had a Lenny & Larry's Pumpkin Cookie & the rest of my Giant (store brand) Peppermint gelato. I at least drank some unsweetened Cashew milk.0 -

We have snack days for any occasion. It is a morale booster at least.

We had several witches and wizards and a team of convicts.

My company does nothing. Ever. They did have a Halloween Jam on Thursdays. They do this every Thursday in the summer where people from work who sing or are in bands can perform. It's a big building so lots of people!0 -

Wow. That is some party company. We don't even have a social committee at my company. Not that I want one... I am not social but still. ...0 -

Sounds so good, I would have to take something like that to work also, or I'd be doomed.
Speaking of bananas....
I have a food dryer that I love. Many years back I had bought 3 lbs of very ripe bananas for real cheap and put them in the dryer. That many usually takes 2 days to dry while flipping them once halfway through. I was very happy with the results. I quickly threw them in a zip lock bag and only took a small amount with me to work. People were curious about them so I shared them knowing I had a bunch at home that I could enjoy.
When I got home I looked everywhere for them. EVERYWHERE. They were not to be found.
When hubby got home, I asked him if he had seen them.
His eyes widened and said "BANANAS, Oh don't even talk to me about bananas. I came home after work yesterday and I was starving and I saw the bananas and just started eating them. I ate the whole bag." I commented to him that he had eaten what used to be 3 lbs. of bananas. I was more than a bit peeved. He continued "I suddenly got real thirsty, so I drank a lot of water." I knew what came next. "Oh, the pain. I thought I was going to explode. I had 3 lbs. of bananas looking for a new home!" It was punishment enough.
To this day, my dried bananas are safe from him.
OMG! LMAO! How long did it take him to eat a banana after that ordeal?
he doesn't0 -

It didn't get on that fast either. The trick is to learn new eating style that is sustainable, treats included. If you do that you will never have to think of dieting again. It takes a little getting use to, But you will succeed.0 -
My current boyfriend is a polar opposite of my ex and I'm finding it hard to lose weight and drop the re-gain because he is so darn sweet. He tells me how much he loves me and how beautiful I am and how sexy I am. I was 192 and losing, when I met him and I'm once again pushing 210. I'm horrified by myself and how badly I let myself go. I tried to blame him but he doesn't feed me. Now with School and work and kids and living together I'm finding it so hard to get back onto the wagon. I'm tottering halfway between.0

If he is truly supportive of you, he may help you with your goals. Just bust out the food scale and start monitoring your intake. You don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight but you do need to be at a deficit and he might be very encouraging. Maybe ask for a nudge in the right direction. Mention that you appreciate that he finds you attractive but you want to be healthier and then give him ways that he can help you on your journey!0 -

THIS!
@lakersfan89 If he is supportive, he should be supportive of your goals.
My hubby would be fine with me no matter what size I am. He also says that if my goal is to be smaller, he will change his diet to match. He encourages me to work out and has joined me. He still eats a lot more than I do (he has a hard time keeping weight on), but we are eating out less and eating healthier more.0 -

This is very good advice. I agree with this!0 -
Not exactly a confession, more of a rant. I almost hit three young drivers yesterday because they pulled out in front of me. One of them ran a stop sign. Two of them were turning into different grocery stores. What the heck is so important at the smurfing grocery store that you would cut off an SUV in your compact car. (thanks be to God for the good brakes on my SUV)0
