It is not diet,it is lifestyle.I don't feel restricted by anything and don't have cravings for animal products....but yes you can make it restrictive and eat too little, but thats not the point. The point is to be healthy and help enviornment.
She didn't call it a diet. She called it a lifestyle.
If one goes full vegan - not just a dietary vegan (those do exist) - it is incredibly restrictive. You are limited on shoes, socks, belts, lip balm, gum, lotions, etc. on top of the restrictive diet.
You don't seem to have much knowledge about veganism or hiking so maybe you should do more research and listen to those who have been vegan for a long time before trying to share your "knowlage"
I like to think I am 'full vegan' as you say. I've been at it for over two years, and am still learning. I wouldn't even begin to offer passing on my 'vegan knowledge' to people even today. I would say if the OP thinks she can start passing on knowledge after 3 months, that's pretty bold.
I have found replacements for all of the above items you listed, it just takes a bit of knowledge and a lot of reading, and a lot of commitment.

Right. She hasn't done any research or she wouldnt have said 'thick soled boots' in response to the hiking question.
It's folks like the OP that bug most people and help give vegans a bad rep.0 -

No. Most people don't consider veganism because they don't want to impose what they see as unreasonable restrictions on how they live their lives.0 -

I've been a vegetarian for nearly two decades (with various stints of veganism every now and then), and I don't need a radical, often hypocritical organization that does more harm than good to tell me how to eat. You don't either.
Also, several of the meat and dairy substitutes you list are processed junk that is terrible for you. Learn to cook. It's easier than you think!
Your intentions are good, but don't use some crackpot organization as your basis. Do your own research and become better informed about both animal rights issues as well as your dietary choices. You'll be amazed at how much there is to learn outside of PETA's propaganda pamphlets!
Please explain to me the bolded part how and from where did you draw this conclusion that you had to confidently claim it.
I need statistical data from where you can back your claim.
BTW I'm no PETA Fan. But I'm a middle aged woman who is an animal lover.
Fwiw, there was a PETA demo at work last week (university). No middle aged women running that! In fact, they all looked pretty much like Emaybe (both the men and the women did).
Though I am curious as to why it's "lame" and offense is being taken, now that I think about it. Is "middle-aged" an insult? It's an age group. Just as "teenager" was used in the preceding sentence. In my experience with PETA activists, these are the two age groups most represented. I never said "all teenagers" or "all middle-aged women" fell into this category; the qualifier directly followed a mention of the age and gender...

What made you assume I had singled out the age group in isolation?

I'd totally go Vegan but I really like to eat meat and use wool socks.0

Ok, I am sorry that I wanted to help , I won't make that mistake ever again especially on MFP.Have a good life !0

I have no respect for PETA. I had no clue that they are taking credit for veganism.
Regarding wool: have you ever watched a sheep being sheared? Good grief they are certainly NOT abused. They are relieved (anthropomorphism, I know). Its like shaving our heads: it grows right back.
I wonder how vegans would feel about a highway trap-line to obtain leather; lots of dead deer lay along the road which can be skinned and the hides tanned. You can leave the carcass for vultures/coyotes if you don't want to interrupt the cycle of life.
Reminds me of one of my first trips to the Florida panhandle when I noticed dead armadillos alongside the road, presumably killed by cars. I remember thinking, "look at all those potential handbags".

The poster you quoted quite obviously took offense, and your post agreed with hers... Were you opposed to the statement about being incapable of communicating with other humans? Why?0 -
Wait, can vegans really not use wool? Not even ethically obtained wool? I mean it's not like leather where they actually kill an animal.
Vegans don't use wool. It's believed that humans don't have the right to "use" animals for anything.
ETA: I should really learn how to refresh the page before posting.
I believe that this is why vegans also don't use honey.0 -

I think I get it....if OP has been reading PETA materials and forcing herself to watch slaughterhouse videos, she's been getting really pumped up about her newly vegan lifestyle, and is all Woot! GO VEGAN!!!!!!
New vegans IMO, are usually the preachiest...
It should pass in a few more months, or OP will go back to eating meat. Because, lets be honest, the majority of vegans are only vegan temporarily.
Did I mention I loathe PETA?0 -

Besides - veganism is more about being ethical than strict "letter of the law" adherence. There is some debate amongst vegans what to do with a pair of leather shoes you had before converting. The options are:
1. Keep them for the rest of their useful life than replace with vegan shoes.
2. Donate them to charity and replace with vegan shoes.
Neither answer here is "more right", a a sampling of vegans will give you people on both sides of that fence.0 -

Yep. I kept mine. Also my son's baseball glove. Are there even good synthetic versions of baseball gloves? I dunno? Guess I need to do more research.0 -
Just wanted to add one last thing 1) I am not perfect and never will be 2) I posted this just because I though that someone might want to become vegan and need support and wanted to help,my mistake...no more help from me,note taken 3) this pics are from 2012-2013, I donated every piece of clothes that I had and where animal (fur, leather, silk), there is only one scarf that I won't wear but it is from my sis 4) it def is lifestyle for me, when I want something I do it.Just wanted to add that before I leave.0
